Received two tea bags as a sample. I’ve been looking at different bagged teas that are easy to bring to work and wanted to try some out so I contacted tetley and they gave me some samples :).

This tea is alright, kinda standard. Main taste is cinnamon followed by licorice root. Would drink it, dunno if I would buy it.

Good blend of different mint herbs! I like the string that squeeze a bunch of the water out of the bag. Good standard blend for work or when I feel lazy.

I’m not loving the amount of licorice in this blend, but wow this tea is effective for helping me get sleepy, and that was what I was after.

I wanted to like this more than I actually do.

The flavours are very present, but I am not sure I like the balance of the three prominent flavours together. The sweet licorice is on the nose and present throughout, but might be the flavour that throws off the balance. It makes the orange blossom taste candy-like and medicinal, and the warming spices taste a little pot pourri like.

It’s not something I will buy again.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Licorice, Orange Blossom

drank Mojito Mint Lime by Tetley

This is spectacular iced! I like making a pitcher of it or freezing into a tea popsicle.

It does get too strong if steeped more than a few minutes. The lime zest has a bit of bitterness to it, but whatever the base is, there is no bitterness there. The mint is nice, the citrus lime is nice. The flavours go together really well.

Flavors: Bitter, Citrus, Citrus Zest, Fruity, Herbaceous, Lime, Mint, Peppermint, Tropical

Iced 1 min, 45 sec 17 OZ / 500 ML

As far as grocery store teas go, greens are the worst bet. They are almost always astringent no matter how you steep them. Not only that, but they are served at resturants using boiling water. BOILING! For a green tea! Madness…what kind of establishment doesn’t know how to put a teabag into water properly. /rant

This is a fairly low end green with a lot of plain (and somewhat unpleasant) flavours. It is a tiny bit fruity, but mostly just grassy in a tropical way. I think it is similar to the flavour of raw green beans. Tends to be astringent and tannic. Can be improved with honey + lemon or by making a soy milk latte. I find soy milk + matcha or green tea makes a better latte than with other types of milk.

Flavors: Astringent, Biting, Bitter, Fruity, Grass, Green, Green Beans, Vegetal

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 0 min, 45 sec 1 tsp 15 OZ / 450 ML

drank British Blend by Tetley

I know this sounds improbable, but I was running low on tea at work—there’s the big random tin where I keep odd ducks and scraps and last-bags-in-the-pack, but sometimes you just need Just Plain Tea. Un-goofable Just Plain Tea that’s hardy enough to survive less-than-pristine mugs, an impotent work microwave, and sitting untended during the million petty interruptions that make up a “normal” work day.

This fits the bill. Smooth, didn’t get nasty when I accidentally oversteeped, not too sharp and acidic. Nothing stellar, no singular stand-out flavor, but I think it’ll Do What Needs to Be Done.

This was recommended to me years ago by the mother of some of my students who was actually British. This was our main tea until we found out about WHOLE leaf and sachets and fancy pants stuff like that! It was one of hubby’s faves for a long time.

Working in a century-old school building (literally), the heat operates about 30% of the time, so tea gets cold in about two minutes; sometimes a cup gets reheated two or three times, so my main office tea criteria is “takes abuse.”

Thanksgiving at mom’s continues. Day 2, tea 2, Tetley’s English Blend.

Not really sure what English Blend means. Blend is easy, it’s a blend of teas from different places. Now for the English? Is it an English Breakfast? Just an English? What exactly is an “English” tea? Hmm..

Well, for starters, this is much better than I thought it was going to be. I love the simplicity. Much like the Bigelow teas, this is a solid, simple, straight up tea with no gimicks, no extra flavors, it’ not trying to be something it doesn’t need to be. Unlike the Stash and Tazo teas I’ve had the last couple of days that take the idea of a certain type of tea and then add all kinds of crap and flavor to make it “better”, only in the end they ruin the base of the tea itself.

I really like this Tetley stuff. Simple, old school, no gimicks, just straight up really good English Tea. I would buy this 100 times before teas like Stash and Tazo and any other modern, hip, “new” tea blends.

Wonderful.

I received two tea bags of this new tea as a free sample. I wasn’t expecting much as I’m not usually a huge fan of regular grocery store teas. Really, it’s just a tea with a fancy name but doesn’t taste all that fancy. Oh, it’s fine and all, just nothing special. I can taste mostly cinnamon and fennel. Even though I have a coupon that came with the sample, I won’t be buying a full box.

drank Lemon Chamomile by Tetley

On the one hand, this smells like chamomile (I guess).

On the other, it is so good swishing this around my mouth. There is just something really pleasing about the flavour balance. The lemon really isn’t that strong. It doesn’t overpower. I bet this would made a good iced drink. I am doing tea shots.

drank Superfuits Blueberry & Açai by Tetley

This tastes kind of like blueberry, something acidic (rose hips and hibiscus, probably), grape?, and pastries. It is quite dessert-y if not brewed too long. I enjoy it cold over ice.

Flavors: Berries, Blackberry, Blueberry, Brown Sugar, Cranberry, Fruity, Graham Cracker, Grapes, Pastries, Peach, Pleasantly Sour

There’s something weird in here that’s detracting from the peach/orange. I think it’s maybe hibiscus or beetroot or licorice? I have no idea. It’s, like, pulling me away from being able to concentrate. I keep swishing this around in my mouth like “hmmmm.” It’s okay to make iced tea with, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

Flavors: Artificial, Flowers, Fruity, Hibiscus, Orange, Peach

drank Pina Colada by Tetley

Tried this 2 ways so far:

Way one: 5 tea bags in 2L of water, cold brewed 12h

Way 2: 1 tea bag steeped 2min in 200F water, put in freezer to cool down quickly.

The first way was the best way. With the first way I can taste a lot of coconut flavoring with a bit of the tartness from the apple. Delicate, light flavor. The second way I found it was a lot of tart apple with very little coconut taste. Altogether a decent brew. It doesn’t wow me incredibly, but I do appreciate the lack of hibiscus sourness. I should have no prob using this tin up; we’ll see if it’s a repurchase.

Grabbed this a few weeks ago and promptly forgot about it.
This morning, I realized I was going to be out all day, so I threw together some iced tea using this and a bag of Lady Grey.
Wow. GREAT combination. This is EXACTLY what I want my iced teas to taste like. Super rich berry flavor. Boom. Plus a tiny bit of orange peel to balance it out.
When I was hiking over the weekend, I plucked and ate tons of blackberries. This tea brought me right back there.
I only steeped this about 2 minutes. I imagine it would have been even tastier if I’d left it a bit longer, but I was trying to get the dog to cooperate so I could get out the door.
