Herbal Infusions Tea Co.

I was a bit hesitant to buy this because I loathe ginger, but the thought of creme brulee won me over. And I can definitely taste creme brulee in this tea. It’s obviously a chai, but a creamy version. And happily, I can’t really taste the ginger.

Though I am still not a huge chai fan, and probably won’t buy this again. I can see chai lovers loving this, though.

sipdown! thanks missb i LOVE the way this one smells. Brewed up it’s also really quite tasty! Such that i may need to think about picking up a small quantity of this in future. :) It’s tangy without being pucker face sour and it smells wonderful! I have a feeling this wouldn’t be too bad as a cold brew either :)

Ugh I’ve continued to be super busy and have a feeling that won’t let up until husband goes back to work on the 7th…don’t really mean to complain; I’m having a ball hanging with friends I don’t get nearly enough time with normally, but it does mean I’ve been enjoying a ton of new teas but haven’t had the chance to log them properly or at all, alas. The ones that REALLY stand out I’m going to backlog whenever I have 5 seconds free time though, just to note they’re awesome so I remember, and this is one of them. Likely my favorite chai now, not too hot spicy or metallic-ly clove-y. Big fan.

I’m really not a fan of the Herbal Infusions base tea. To counteract the ick-ness, I steeped for 2 minutes at 185F. For a black tea. Yeah.

Thankfully that, and overleafing, allows the flavourings to overpower the base to make a tasty cup.

Sweet, sugary, pretty mild chai. More like cinnamon bun, really. It does smell good, and it’s not bad this way, but I’d rather buy teas with bases I like so I probably won’t be getting this again.

I finished this one off this morning. I never really got creme brulee out of it, because there was a very strong presence of black pepper. The last cup of it was a shocker, because it was comprised of all the bottom dust of the bag, and so it was like drinking straight black
pepper! Just a warning! :P

I’m slowly sipping a cup of this tea, trying to delay my Sunday chores. ;) It’s quite peppery today, but I think that’s what makes it so unique.

I always have too much to do on Sunday – run, groceries, laundry…and I’m trying to decide whether to hook up our TV so I can watch Downton Abbey tonight. I was so upset about last season, so I don’t know. :P

Wow, this is a really unique chai! You can see I’m going a little nuts trying all my new teas. Will have to stop soon, or the caffeine is going to make me nuts! Haha! This is really good. The spices in here are wonderful. They blend together well. I think the uniqueness has to do with either the cardamom, black pepper, or may I say nutmeg? The latter isn’t on the ingredients list, but it might be in there. It sounded like another reviewer found that spice as well. This is also a sweet custard-like tea, although it’s not particularly thick in mouthfeel. I think it would be great using the stovetop method…next time! Mmmm. :)

Cold steeped all day. I used Fjellrev ’s suggestion, and just used a tea bag. That way I could put the lid on my mason jar, and avoid spilling. It worked wonderfully! Thanks!

This is really good. Orange-grapefruit, some tartness from the hibiscus, and a hint of cooling eucalyptus. It is DEFINITELY something I’d consider getting in a future order.

However. It looks almost exactly the same as Tealux’s Orange Lemonade. So since I’m doing a Tealux order within the next couple months, I’ll just get that one instead. I can always grapefruit it up with my grapefruit seed extract, or the food oil I have.

Thankfully the bag has all the ingredients listed. It’s just a sample, but I really appreciate that. Apparently all new packaging will come with full ingredient listings… although there still aren’t steeping suggestions. :)

I saw there was hibiscus in this, so I only steeped for about 3 min at boiling. 2 tsp in a 12 oz cup. It smells like delicious orange before steeping, and after steeping it takes on that herbal/medicinal scent. I added a bit of honey, and I’m glad I did.

The flavour of this is so neat. Fresh, bright oranges, sweet grapefruit, lemongrass, and yes I can tell there’s hibiscus here. Definitely on my shopping list. I hope this does well iced and as a cold brew!

Ohhh, this is good. The sample packet sadly hadn’t fully sealed (nothing escaped!), so I decided to open it first.

So good. Yes, I’m drinking this hot. It’s delicious! And my BFF agrees, since she’s sitting on the floor drinking it with ice cream. :)

Definitely a straight rooibos honeybush blend as advertised. No additional flavours or ingredients. Since I’m not a big fan of rooibos, this isn’t one I would have again. I drank it without milk. Since they indicate that it does well with milk, I might try it again that way to see if it improves it for me.

A sad sipdown, however I will most definitely order more whenever I decide I need more Herbal Infusions. :) A tiny bit overleafed just to finish off the bag, and so delicious when it is! Juicy grapefruit with just a hint of eucalyptus to help open the sinus and feel “cool”.

Double leaf this one, I dare you all! It’s amazing. Like syrupy, sweet juice that’s still light and refreshing from the faint eucalyptus. Amazing! Had this yesterday, however I think I may need some more now.

This is a surprising cross between Tea Gschwendner’s Bamboo Pomelo and Zen Tea’s Bamboo Integrity. Take the bite of Zen’s (from the eucalyptus and carrot), the sweetness from the grapefruit (like tgtea) and some fun additions… I quite enjoy this. It’s better hot than cold (I found, however sweetened and cold may be better). Slightly tart yet sweet at the same time, I’m loving this. Even after finishing two full cups, I’m contemplating brewing another.

Bah, I oversteeped this by 20 minutes, which made it smell lovely but it got all bitter and drying. Silly me!

This smells identically to a creme brulee sitting next to a fragrant chai. Stunning, and surprising.

There’s something even more surprising in here, something I can’t quite find. Nutmeg, perhaps? Something spiced, deep, full bodied. I only had one sip before I made it into a chai (Truvia, coconut milk), and didn’t taste any of that. Once as a chai though? Holy moly. This spice, whatever it is, is unique and wonderful. There’s a hint of sweetness to it that comes at the very end and after the sip, sort of like egg custard tha’s been sweetened or even burnt slightly – in a good way. There’s something smoky in there too, with zero heat, yet spice.

Truly delicious blend. Dexter3657, I’ve already put some in the box headed your way next week.

This was a sample in my recent Herbal Infusions order, woot.

I’m really not big on citrus teas. I’m finding I’m exceedingly picky when it comes to fruit and tea. Anything fake it a deal breaker. Upon smelling this one, I was a little wary.

So I brewed it up, and surprisingly it’s not so bad. There is no fakeness or overwhelming sickening sweetness. In fact, it’s almost low on flavour, but to be honest I’d rather low true flavour than more fake flavour. There is a hint of almost carbonation of the end of the sip from the grapefruit and eucalyptus mix which is fascinating. I have a feeling this one would be even better iced. Perhaps I’ll use the rest of my sample to cold brew.

Update: This one IS much better cold. I just poured the rest of my mug into a cup and put it in the fridge rather than cold brewing. The grapefruit really shines as a cold tea.

Great tea. Smooth. I prefer it to a straight Earl Grey because it is not overbearing. Flavour is there, but comes across smooth, just enough. Goes well with milk.

My new favourite tisane. Holds up well to a long steep time. Water temperature should be less than a full boil. I will boil the water and wait 2 mins before pouring it over. Fruity but not sour. Wouldn’t even know there was eucalyptus in it. Very enjoyable at any time of day.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I don’t usually like flavoured black teas. It has pieces of strawberry in it. The strawberry taste was nice and strong, plus a smoothness from the vanilla. A milder tea than a straight black, but nice even with a bit of milk in the evening.

Had a mug of this last night before bed. Steeped a bit long, so the licorice was strong.

backlog: Steeped it for less time, had less of the sweet licorice flavour. Threw in some lemon verbena from my herb garden ;)
