Goodbye, sample!
Today I woke up early to see my bf and his Dad off as they drive across the country with our stuff. My job is to take care of the child and the cat but I just can’t wake up.

This tea was tasty, but didn’t give me the zip I was hoping for!

Sil

You flying out here with the little one?

TeaLady441

Yep! We arrive Thursday afternoon!

Terri HarpLady

When you girls meet up, I want photos!

Sil

She’ll be the photogenic one and ill be the one with my tongue out or my face scrunched up hahaha

TeaLady441

I don’t know about that. I feel so awkward with photos! We’ll have to include the baby and then there will be less focus on me/us. :p

Indigobloom

Squeeee! So exciting :D

Sil

i love your pics! you’re just so darn cute! grin Just finished splitting up the rest of the teas that i have that you and i split..not touching the ones you split with the girls. Little bag set aside ready for you to pick up whenever :)

Just what I needed after moving out of our place and driving 5 hours with the cat and baby. I added a bit of half and half to make it fancier.

Oh man, I hope that whoever decides to hire me isn’t looking at my Pinterest site because they will know how obsessed I am with Sherlock, Doctor Who and other things. And I really try to restrain myself too! I try not to pin pics that are just “OMG look at those eyes” and “I want to ruffle his hair” cause that’s too obvious, but there are still a lot of pictures there

Tumblr is great because of the gifs etc, but the OCD part of me just likes pinning to boards much much more…

And hanging around there led to me drinking this tea, and thinking happy fuzzy warm Johnlock thoughts because even if the show doesn’t go where I need it to go (now, damn you fanfic!), I still have the fiction to fall back on!

And this tea too… Well not really, it’s a sipdown, but I WILL need to get some Sherlock teas to drink while I think Sherlock-thoughts.

Obsessed much? Yep. How does this even happen? Oh right – the Kindle Paperwhite with the built-in light that lets me read waaaaay past my bedtime…

Right and this tea is good. It does start off strong and muddied but it evens out at the end of the sip. It’s dark with bursts of cinnamon, but then the bergamot and vanilla tone things down, and maybe, maybe things will work out.

No mustaches in this reunion though. Not that I’m anti-mustache – I love how everyone flipped out.

Thank you Heather Martin for the sample and thank you Shmiracles (I might have known!) for passing some on to her! :D I love how teas get around.

Lo! I can’t get on pinterest right before bed or else I’ll be on there far too late It really is addicting! l

Shmiracles

falling face down asleep on my kindle 10 times until i finally go to real bed is the story of my everyday life.

Shmiracles

(i’m having some empty tins appear in my cupboard…it’s possible i’ll be trying some avengers teas? maybeee?) i’m saving what’s left of the 5 sherlock teas i have for new season! and of course my season 1 & 2 rewatch.

tea-sipper

This one sounds amazing! Hojicha with earl grey and almond? I think I’ll have to try mixing hojicha and some earl grey later today.

Told. You. So.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Lol! Sometimes short reviews are the most expressive!

ifjuly

you guys sound a bit like Christian Grey ;) just joshin’

Terri HarpLady

LOL, speaking of Mr Grey, Tony & I were dog sitting his best friend’s dog, who’s name is Mr Grey. Tony decided to nickname him ‘G Dog’, & I nicknamed him, “Fifty Shades”. He responds to both, LOL. He’s a Jack Whippet, BTW.

Terri HarpLady

Oh BTW, Mr Grey isn’t named after the book, he is named after the bad guy in the movie ‘Dreamcatcher’, so Dan, his daddy, calls him ‘mistew gwey’, doing an ‘i Duditz’ imitation. I love that movie.

This tea is the anti-lemon myrtle from Granville as this has mate to kick me awake. That’s the idea at least, but so far it’s not working. Gimme my other cup!

But wow. This tea is just so bright and creamy. Where does this cream come from? Maybe I’m mixing it up with the lemon? Either way, I’m getting honey and lemon notes and it’s very refreshing and enjoyable. I only snagged 10g but I’m happy I gave it a shot. This seems like it would be great when I want a bit of sunshine in a cup.

And here goes the 5th tea!

I steeped this for the full 7 mintues because it’s almost midnight and I’m hoping to do more cleaning etc but I’m just really sick of scrubbing the walls and what if the landlord doesn’t really care that the place is this clean and I’m wasting my time? But I need this tea to get me off of this chair and doing… something.

I love the smell of it!

Ok, so it does sorta remind me of Glitter and Gold, BUT, right at the end of the sip there’s the wonderful gingerbread burnt sugar note that just lingers on and on. It’s delicious. Do not be afraid to steep it for 7 minutes!

If I were rating any of these new teas, I’d probably stick this in the high 80’s based on how happy I am with it right now. It’d be wonderful as a latte too!

And, after drinking all 5 new seasonal teas I have to say that getting 30g minimum of each was the right choice. I enjoyed all of them but I think Sugar and Spice, Pumpkin Chai and the Cocoberry were the ones I’d want to re-stock, while I will have to think more about the Pistachio Cream and Mom’s Apple Pie. No regrets on a day dedicated to DAVIDsTEA

I sometimes get frustrated when doing move-out cleaning for the same reason. I’m always super thorough but wonder if it would be all for nothing. That said, I hope you’re not staying up too too late fussing, because chances are the landlord won’t be as meticulous as you.

TeaLady441

Yeah, no worries. I’ll probably head to bed in the next half an hour or so. Mostly I’m just dismantling furniture at the moment. The bf is worried we won’t have enough space and he says to just dump it and we’ll re-buy it in TO, but… but… if it’ll fit why not try? :P

Tomorrow I will worry more about washing the floors/walls or whatever and drink tons of mate!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I always go on a cleaning frenzy when I move too. For some reason I have this fear that the next person living there will think I was a slob! I dunno why that should bother me though. I probably will never meet them!

Sil

I was going to say, not sure if you guys have a Costco membership but if you don’t and want stuff there we have one.

keychange

+1 to Costco memberships!
Also, this tea sounds right up my alley. I was a little disappointed with the way the rest of them sounded (especially because I wish there were more blacks), but this tea has me excited. Plus I tend to like all my tea fairly strong, so I’m totally down with steeping it for like a year.

TeaLady441

Thanks! I’ll keep that on mind!

Gabriela

Lol.. I was the opposite. Loved pistachio cream, bought 50 grams already. Also really liked Moms apple pie… The rest where just okay for me.

Ok, DT’s Fall Collection – 4/5. I’m a completionist, so I’ve got the fifth one sitting in my other timolino for review.

This one though… not sure. It makes me think of Forever Nuts, except this is more apple-y? And I can see the apple pie connection. I wonder if I need to have those two side by side in order to figure it out?

Backlog from when I was at the mall today:

Woo! Good. I still like it! I wasn’t sure because some of the ultra-crazy-sugary blends no longer appeal to me as much now that I’ve discovered the beauty of Butiki and Verdant teas, but THIS is one I still love.

It’s just… fall in a cup. I break all the rules for this one. I love it as a latte with brown sugar, but will settle for some with a dash of milk.

I started this season with 50g. I’ll probably buy more later, but I didn’t need a free tin, and would prefer smaller foil bags right now.

OMGsrsly

My goal is to empty a tin for Pumpkin Chai. :) I had this one iced today. Did they give it to you iced, as well? So different.

TeaLady441

Ummm.. shoot. I can’t remember if my sample was iced or not! But I had a go cup with milk so that erased the sample from my memory. :P

Hmmm, I’ve never tried ordinary brown sugar in tea. Do you think that’s the kind of sugar they’re talking about? or the special rock variety? and, I’m still playing around with quantities and times and such for this tea myself. I think I’ll use double the leaf next time.

OMGsrsly

Keychange, I’ve used ordinary brown sugar, but brown sugar is different depending where you are in the world. The stuff I use is the kind with molasses added back into it, so it’s really soft and sticky and packs well.

keychange

oh wow omgsrsly, I didn’t know brown sugar wasn’t just the same everywhere. I’d never heard of it having molasses in it—that’s interesting. Maybe i’ll try a bit of the ordinary (non molasses) version in my tea. Their website doesn’t really suggest what kind of brown sugar they’re getting at. I feel as though I always need “permission” to experiment though, as I’ve never actually used brown sugar for anything other than baking LOL.

OMGsrsly

The only reason I know is from cooking shows on YouTube. :) What I see as turbinado here is what’s called brown sugar in other places. It’s a free flowing crystal, that’s brown instead of white. Food names are so weird.

Ok, so tea 3/5 of the new collection!

I really like Mulberry Magic, so I thought I would try this out. It smells divine! I’m not a big pistachio nut (ha! see what I did there?) but I do enjoy the creaminess to this tea. I may even prefer it to Mulberry Magic because of that. It’s very soothing and comforting. I wonder how well it would re-steep?

ETA: I re-steeped it for 6 minutes but it was bland/flat. Most DT’s don’t resteep well so I’m not that surprised.

So, am I the only DAVIDsTEA fangirl who rushed off to DT today to look at the new stuff? I even popped online last night to see the new stuff in advance!

I ended up trading a brand new perfect mug in for the Heat Sensitive Nordic Mug. (http://www.davidstea.com/leaf-outline-heat-sensitive-nordic-mug?&TF=D36B1B50DFA0&DEID=) I love the shape and feel of the Nordic Mugs more, and… heat sensitive? OH YES. It still doesn’t replace my trees PM from last fall, but this will do. I wanted to get the animal print one, but they didn’t have it in store yet (http://www.davidstea.com/multicolor-animals-mug?&TF=D36B1B50DFA0&DEID=). For $20, maybe I’ll grab one later on – maybe as a reward for finding a job in ON once I get over there. :D

Anyway, on to the tea? This one reminds me of a fruity coffeeish drink. It’s roasty and warm, but the cherries sweeten it up, and there’s a lingering mate taste. I think this would be a great cup for mornings when I need a kick, but don’t actually want coffee. The nice thing about this is I can drink it plain; coffee I always have to add milk and sugar in order to gulp it down. Tea wins!

Well, I guess this tea has sugar cane it in, so it’s cheating a bit, but it’s still probably better than just dumping in a tbsp of sugar, right?

I’ll hold off on rating it until I try it again as right now I’m just squeeing about everything DT. I should know better, but it’s fun being excited. ;P

ETA: This DID re-steep well!

We suck so much for rushing over to grab the new stuff haha.

Stephanie

Glad to see reviews of the new fall stuff so quick! I don’t live near a David’s Tea!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Lol! I did the same thing! :-)

OMGsrsly

This one smells SO good, I just really wish it didn’t have coffee beans in it. Oh well. :)

Indigobloom

Wow this sounds good! I’m wary of the coffee though lol

mrs.stenhouse12

Youre definitely not alone lol i ran off to there after my appointment today, only picked up sugar and spice and my beloved pumpkin chai, and some redberry tonic, i’m waiting for the TOTM :) then I’ll go back lol, oh and I splurged on the leaf Nordic, i love the shape too!

OMGsrsly

MissLena, the staff in my local store were testing out the tea of the month. They said it’s fantastic. :) My fingers are crossed!

TeaLady441

Eeee! I want to try it!

Plunkybug

I am gonna try this one in the morning before work. I only got 12g or so of the 3 new ones and I tried the others tonight, but wanted to wait on this one. It looks like it has so much good stuff in it.

CHAroma

What! Heat sensitive leaf cup? How did I miss that?!!! So jealous. What colors do the leaves change to?

TeaLady441

They turn reddish-orange and yellow. Its not as nice as the forest print they had last year but I like it.
