1598 Tasting Notes
I really like this tea. The mint is so refreshing while the chamomile is calming. I probably should have chosen it for later in the evening as I could use more caffeine right now. Gonna sip all night!
Sipdown! Oh yeah! I finished my last bag of this! :)
It was great but it’s so very similar to Paris and I think that would be the one I would re-stock in the future.
Oh and I found 1 oz of Ruby Pie while I was digging through my cupboard! :O I’m pretty stoked on that! Happy days!
I just drank a cup of Vicky’s Sponge Cake, then finished up the last of my Green Hot Cinnamon H&S sample (which I didn’t log but whatever) and stuffed a ton of teas into a box for Ozli now that she’s no longer lurking. :P
Or lurking as much. :D Now I just want to sort through my entire cupboard and see what’s left. I think I’m at 127, but I definitely want to get lower. For the most part, 90% of the teas I have are ones that I enjoy while 10% are just… still there. But that ratio is much better than when I started and I’m not buying 2oz on whimsy anymore so it’s easier to get rid of that not-my-fav’s.
This one IS pretty good. I think I’m halfway through my 1 oz pack. I’m pretty certain I’ll be placing a Della Terra order for Black Friday. It’ll be fun.
You and I are almost at the same place, at almost the same numbers! Gotta get through all those teas that are just there because they are leftover from early indiscriminant buying. :)
hahaha BUTT. But yay! Teamail! :D
This sounds good! Della Terra makes so many good teas for me. Do you think this one measures up to DT pumpkin chai? I think the pumpkin chai might actually get me to enter the mall…..
I think Grandma’s Pumpkin Chai tastes better than Davids Pumpkin Chai – I hope I sent you some of that? :( Guess you can tell me! But for some reason I thought the DavidsTea version was less spicy – I. Think they removed the cardamom from the blend. All I’m trying to say is maybe get a little bit to start! Also if you go in on a week day, it should be too busy. :)
This tea was part of Operation:Backlog. After being inspired by Sil I’ve decided to try and drink my older teas up so I can rotate everything better. I think this one has been in a plastic ziplock for 6 months now? Whoops.
I dove in and gave it my best. And I have to say this was an unusual oolong from the brief experience I’ve had with them. I got a lot of floral notes, as well as some fruit – either a peach or an apricot. Each sip left off with a strange aftertaste that wasn’t unpleasant, but hard to identify.
Interesting! I can’t wait to investigate further with the 2nd half of my sample.
Thanks CrowKettle! (I’m assuming it was from you? :( I rec’d this before I started logging who gave me what)
Sipdown!
This was much needed to as I had 9 samples come in from Teavivre and my total tea count is at 130. I still think I can get to 100 for Black Friday though. I’m more worried about getting a good job first! :P (Otherwise I will be very sad as you all place huge orders for awesome prices and I avoid the internet for a few days! Hahah.) I just had an interview yesterday, and I applied at an interesting place today so I’m not discouraged yet!
Anyway, thank you CrowKettle for this! Took me long enough to drink it all, eh? But I enjoyed it.
Also I’ve now organized ALL my teas in my spreadsheet so that if I don’t have the exact date, I have an estimate of when I bought it – time to sip down those old teas!
Preparation
I managed to eliminate most of my old teas during mine & Sil’s sipdown showdown, which really was the best part of it.
For some reason I always feel a little guilty about leaving teas sitting there forever in limbo…except for puerh’s, of course.
Thanks Incendiare for the sample!
I was a bit nervous about trying it because I’d never had tuocha, but after reading what everyone else did, I feel fairly confident I’m doing this ok.
And wow – it really smells like sticky rice! It does taste as deliver, with the slightest tackiest mouthfeel and a slightly sour aftertaste. This is… unusual? I’m happy I tried it but I don’t know that it’s for me. :P
I drank this this morning, along with a cup of Bolder Breakfast. You can see the comparison here: http://steepster.com/cavocorax/posts/195610
Preparation
In my mind I can’t really remember the differences between Tea Spot’s Bolder Breakfast, and Chocolate “O”. Both are strong rich blends with chocolaty notes, but if I could only order one, which would I have? :O
I steeped both at boiling for 5 minutes, and poured a little of each into bubble cups for easy comparison.
Bolder Breakfast:
-smells like: earth, rich flavours, chocolate, honey
tastes: very warm, rich, chocolatey, lots of earthy depth, sweet honey – very complex!
Chocolate O:
-smells like: malt, chocolate, honey
-tastes: malty, honeyed, slightly gritty/earthy, lots of chocolate and a hint of caramel
Conclusion: Both are very good teas but I’m happy that I have a tin of the Bolder Breakfast and only 1 oz of the Chocolate O as the BB seems to be more complex and rich than the Chocolate O. I guess the puerh makes the biggest difference here!
Thanks to Terri HarpLady and Sil for the joint order on these. :)
Preparation
I’m getting close to the end of my sample so I thought I’d do a quick note.
This does taste a bit like chocolate and orange but it’s not really my thing. Not enough chocolate? (Is there ever enough?) Ah well. I might give up on Chocolate Orange teas – I think I’m expecting actual chocolate orange. :P
Preparation
oooh! an opportunity to sow seeds of budgetary insurrection: you could always ask stacy at butiki to create the blend for you… and you could be really smarty pants about it and suggest it for the custom blend contest and then maybe you don’t even have to pay for it. =0P
JustJames – that’s a great idea, but as the others have said, Two Friends is basially that. And it still wasn’t the chocolate-orange I was hoping for. (Well I had Three Friends, but I imagine it was close?)
But I like the idea of suggesting blends to Stacy! I really should come up with something for the contest!
