Ok, this is my random oolong sample for the day! I was pretty excited to try it as I’d heard of “Big Red Robe” in other tea reviews and was curious.

I’m on my second steep and having trouble describing it. It’s orange in colour, and tastes very much like oolong. It’s roasty, and just a tad floral, with a bit of a darker vegetal aftertaste. Interesting!

The second steep is even darker and roastier. I prefer this over the first steep. It’s so sweet and roasty, dark and full, yet not like a black tea.
I think I get peach notes too!

I’ll wait until I have the second sample of this before I rate it (and by that time will have had all of them!).

I’m drinking this because I saw Ozli had it and I have no mind of my own sometimes. That and this tea is just so amazing that being reminded of it meant I needed it YESTERDAY.

Ok! So this was the Earl Grey I was craving this morning. :P I enjoyed my cup of Mount Grey but wanted to follow up with this just to get it right. I’m finishing up the last of my sample now (114) and it is as slightly creamy/lemon custardy as I remember. YES!

The rest is getting stuffed into a little envelope for Ozli who loves EG’s, which SHOULD go at the letter price as it’s just one flattened bag. If they say it’s too thick and charge me for a package I’ll just take it back home with me. >:|

So the other day I had an Earl Gray that was fresh, sweet and almost lemon custardy, and I wanted more today.

Too bad I mixed things up. It wasn’t this one – it was Justea’s Kathryne Kenyan Earl Grey. Oh. Colour me disappointed.

This IS a good tea though, and I’m not at all disappointed, but I was craving something creamier.

Oh, Ozli was totally right when she recommended adding brown sugar and a bit of milk to this. Just… wow. This made my evening! I wish I hadn’t eaten that chocolate bar earlier because this would have probably satisfied my sweet craving. Probably.

I can’t believe I’ve only got enough of this left for a cup! I’ll have to get more in November for the big sale!

I grabbed this one randomly from my Teavivre sample box in my quest to get a better understanding of oolongs.

I steeped it for 2 minutes at near boiling water. The result is an orange-brown liquor. The description says that sweet potatoes notes are predominant but it sore of reminds me of peach. And grape.

And… I wish I could get into this further, but everything is working against me today so I will leave this there and hope for more time with the other sample packet.

I’m drinking this while eating pocky sticks and the chocolate/chocolate combo is rather nice. The baby ate half my sticks though and now she’s giving me these wide blue eyes begging for more. That’s fine. I’ve got this tea. She can have the last stick.

We’re watching Hannibal (tv) and it’s pretty neat so far. Also, really gory and awful. The really cool thing about it is that my sister-in-law does a lot of the make-up/props for the show, so dead bodies, body parts, wounds etc are done by her and her co-workers. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to visit the shop she works in as it’s just in Toronto!

I’m not sure if I made it wrong, or what but I’m not really getting any coconut or strawberry from this. It just tastes grassy. Almost like a grassy oolong? It has a slight strawberry smell though so I know I have the wrong tea. I’ll just have to try it again in the future!

Mmmmm. I decided that I wanted one more tea, after drinking a few that I didn’t log. (Whoops). I thought this was really nice with the peppermint notes but I felt it was lacking just a bit.

Then I added a touch of sugar.
OH. I get it now. :)

This tea tastes so sweet and artificial and all of that but I don’t care because sometimes I want a fake tea like this. It’s like drinking a pop after being healthy for so long. :p
