1598 Tasting Notes
So I can see where this blend is going, trying to be all mild and vanill-y and delicate, but it’s too delicate for me. At the end of the night I want something stronger before bed.
I’m not too upset though. There are plenty of Butiki teas that I adore and I cannot afford them all anyway!
So a few of you are telling me to put maple in this tea and that tea and I don’t have maple so that’s a real bummer, but I’ll tell you what I DO HAVE:
MAPLE CHAI PU-ERH.
amazon is the only way to buy nina’s in north america just yet..they haven’t opened their direct online store here. :)
Terri – I can always pick some up the next time i order tealux. I found a black tea from there i think you might like..it reminds me of bolder breakfast but with no flavouring!
I think the verdict so far, after 3 days of oolong sampling, is that I’m just not that into oolongs. This is nice, and smooth, and just a bit floral and vegetal and it’s fine, but… I just don’t see that I’d crave it very often.
It’s good, but what would I ever do with an oz of it?
I’ll rate it when I drink the second pack!
This poor tea! This is my third cup and every time I try to review it, something prevents me. This last time I just lost my note because I opened up 8tracks in another tab of my browser and crashed the entire thing. Stupid, stupid me. I know 8 tracks crashes Opera. I just wasn’t thinking.
Anyway, thank you Little Red Cup Tea Company for this generous sample. I have to say that I really like the marketing and packaging for this tea. It’s distinctive but looks great.
As for the tea, I haven’t had a lot of experience with Keemun’s, but I do enjoy this. It’s brisk and smoky but not as smoky as lapsang souchong. (My throat doesn’t feel like it’s being grated). There’s a bit of natural sweetness to this that I enjoy and there’s no sign of astringency. It tastes ok cold too, which is good to know as I let this sit too long!
I need to get some! I didn’t bring syrup with me when I moved and haven’t replaced it yet!
But… this weekend?
Ok, so I’m probably just the biggest whiner ever but I cannot handle not getting enough sleep. That’s the surefire best way to grump me up, and I gotta say that at 5:20 AM, with only 1 hour of sleep under my belt, I am very grumpy.
It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have a telephone interview tomorrow at 9:30. It could have been ANY other day this week and I would have just shrugged it off and played video games all morning. But life is like that.
Long story short – this is just further reminder of why having one kid is just great, and how I don’t want to go back to the days where we didn’t sleep at all. Ever. :P The older this one gets, the easier everything becomes for us.
I’m hoping this will knock me out, and I’m considering putting some into a bottle for her too!
ETA: Of course when you’re grumping it up, it’s always wise to keep in mind Batman’s Inspirational Words: http://themetapicture.com/batmans-inspirational-words/
oh, batman. :(
hope you managed to get some more sleep! I had an early morning with K heading off to Sudbury. Mornings are gross.
Awww. Hope you’re able to make up for it later, Indigobloom! (Grumpy twins! Yay!)
TUrns out it was for naught too as the job they interviewed me for was for a call centre with wonky hours. No thanks.
And I HAVE had jobs where I’ve fallen asleep – back when I was going to college. I was supposed to work upstairs and sell clothes at a surplus store but we rarely had people come up so I would have hours where no one would talk to me. And I’d doze off (or do homework!)
Oooooooh. I love this tea but I don’t think I’d had it with brown sugar at all before! And just the slightest tiny bit of it makes it so amazing.
TRY IT. JUST A LITTLE.
The lesson is that I really need to stop being such a damn tea purist. Sil and OMGsrsly keep talking about adding maple to black teas and so now I want to grab maple agave next time I’m at DAVIDsTEA. I’ve got about 6 oz of Russian Caravan that is just calling out for it!
haha i’m with you on that…i don’t add anything to 98% of my tea unless it’s a cold brew and sometimes…you really do miss out.
I, on the other hand, add sugar or maple syrup 98% of my teas. For sure all the flavoured ones. I used to feel guilty. I don’t anymore.
This is good, but not strong enough for me I think. I think cheesecake is just too delicate a flavour to begin wtih, but I do think it adds a little to this latte.
I think this matcha works best as a secondary matcha to mix with something else. It was amazing with both the pumpkin and Belgian chocolate so I will keep mixing it in the future to help stretch the life of those other flavours out!
I think it’s just the regular. These were all the contest prizes so I didn’t have any choice but the pumpkin is distinctive! (Which I’m really happy about!)
remind me next time you’re over to try the cheesecake i have. i think i still have some robust in the cupboard…it’s delicious lol
oh jeez i was just at their website last night making lists /o\
…cantaloupe cream…
Mmmm. I want more of the new carrot cake or whatever that one is. It’s a black tea – limited run.
cavo…. do NOT order it without us doing a joint order woman!
:p No worries! I’m not ordering anything!
Sadly.
