1598 Tasting Notes
And another sipdown! (236) Probably my only one for the day.
And I feel I wasted this tea. I enjoyed the cup of it but I drank it so quickly, and while we were doing our roleplaying game that I didn’t really get to savour it and pick apart all the flavours like I like too.
Thanks Sil for sending me a cup!
Say what you will about Teavana, but this tea is tasty, and it’s not one that I know you can find anywhere else. It’s refreshing and delicious iced! I cold steeped it for only 3 hours, and it was just perfect.
Lavender and Sage are unusual herbs but they combine rather nicely. Thx OMGsrsly for telling me about this one.
Preparation
Yes? Yes. This is a really great tea. It has ‘real’ banana flavours and just a little bit of chocolate flavoring on top of it. It really makes me think of the chocolate covered banana chips I buy from the bulk store. DELICIOUS.
I wonder how well Lupicia teas re-steep? I’ll have to find out.
They’re not overly resteepable, in my opinion – I feel it’s the same tea, but weaker and with less complexity, overall.
It’s pretty good for me, though – I’m not big on resteeping, and I sort of feel, ‘Okay, done with this, moving on,’ like the leaf is spent and that’s it. So those oolongs and whatnot that you can resteep forever always come off as very daunting to me. Because what if I don’t have time, or feel like another cup?
Anna, I am with you. I am not one for the resteeps. Mostly because I like to have a billion flavors a day. Sometimes I feel wasteful but other times I realize I have soo much tea that if I always resteeped, I would never get to a lot of my teas before they went bad and that would be even more wasteful. (and yes, I am aware my logic doesn’t really make all that much sense but shhhh because it comforts me :P)
Yeah, I totally get that. I hate feeling pressured to resteep fancy teas, and feeling guilty for ‘wasting’. I do appreciate those teas when I’m in the mood but even then 3 is the most I resteep. My cups are 12-16oz, so that seems reasonable. How much of one tea can you drink?
Anna – where do you get Lupicia teas from? I saw that you live in Italy and I know the US store doesn’t ship internationally… Do you just rely on connections? Or do they have other online stores?
I think my cupboard is mostly samples too and there are drinks I want to have but can’t help but feel like I should be drinking the swap teas first.
Yeah, I’m mostly focusing on samples. If I have teas that are sealed, I don’t want to break the seal yet, even though I’m really excited about my sealed Nina’s or Lupicia.
I have to open all the teas when they arrive so I can smell them all and decide which to try first.
I have a hard time with the resteep 6x teas too. I just get bored and it feels like it goes on forever.
Sipdown! (236) – Probably my last for the night.
And I think that’s it for the Doctor Who samples from Sil! I think I like this one the most out of the other ones because of the orange and cinnamon. I mean, how can you go wrong with orange and cinnamon?
Although, it would be nicer if it were stronger orange/cinnamon. The black base is a little bland and Donna needs more pepper! Or fire!
Poor Donna. Poor, poor Donna. :|
But I’m happy I could enjoy this tea.
Also, here’s a good gifset for Donna: http://stefficr.tumblr.com/post/80312280193/screw-writing-strong-women-write-interesting
How about that? Sil told me to try this because it’s good, and I tried it, and it was! It’s good! It’s got a nice bit of sweetness and a nice bit of smoke, balanced wonderfully.

So, Sil is sending all the samples I sent to her to you? LOL, that’s one way to rack up the sipdowns! :D
Terri – where there was enough for me to have 2 cups or 1 sil sized cup AND have some left over, then Cavo gets to try it too since she has been my recent tea buying buddy lol. if there was only enough for a sil sized cup…. she did not get to try them haha
Hahaha. And that’s totally fair. :) I appreciate what I get, and now that I’ve dropped my numbers a little bit, I feel I can relax a bit more and savour each cup properly. Phew.
More sipdowns! (238)
I’m happy Sil sent me this because I was curious how I would like the lavender with bergamot, but I really truly do. It’s a nice fruity black with the lavender adding that special pop to it. It’s quite relaxing.
Thanks!
Sorry Ten! I wish your tea was more memorable! It just tastes like a plain black tea with a little tiny bit of banana.
I’m happy Sil sent some over for me. I would have been disappointed if I’d just bought 3 oz of it!

I’m thoroughly confused by this tea too, as I’ve got a blend with fairly similar ingredients and it’s chock full o’ deliciousness. Must be the proportions in which they’re blended. Poop.
That being said, Adagio’s discontinued the guanabana tea, so who knows? Maybe the creator will reformulate and come out with a tastier replacement. A fandork can dream.
Oh gosh, this caramel cookie tea is exactly that. EXACTLY.
Thank you Sil! Thankfully I have one more bag of this so it isn’t a sipdown. :D
Haha. I’m so happy Sil was able to give me a few bags because I was going to buy some in our joint order and they were sold out! /smalltragedies/ I could see popcorn in it too – just all that wonderful caramel…
I know! I heard about that and felt so bad. All you adorable Cookie-deprived Canadians. Heartbreak.
I e-mailed French Lupicia and asked if they’re ever going to carry Cookie, and they told me they would before the end of the year. I was, so, so excited.
Yeah Katiek a was awesome enoug to send me a wHOLe bag of cookie tea bags! Not loose leaf but so utterly awesome.
I had this today too and we had two completely different experiences. To me, this tasted like a subpar black tea :(
I saw that! That’s part of why I drank this now. That and I want to finish this tin off this week. Too bad you didn’t care for it. I find it’s good if you steep it for awhile to make it nice and dark.
I can understand not liking puerh though. It took me a bit to get into it, and I’m starting to really enjoy it now, although the really ‘dirty’ ones I don’t like. Or the fishy ones. Eek.
Dirty and fishy are two words I don’t want describing my tea.
(LOL Think subterranean or earthy and marine rather than dirty and fishy…)
(Lol, you forgot “leathery” Dexter)
