1598 Tasting Notes
Yay! This is another one from VariaTEA. She actually gave me the entire Firefly set as samples and I know I’m going to have fun trying them. I had to start with Kaylee though. She’s probably my favourite. Also, I did sorta name my daughter after her (her middle name is Kaylee) because this character is so awesome, full of heart, and incredibly talented at something not typically done by a woman. I consider that makes her a good role model. :P
It was funny. I was searching for names and as soon as that popped into my head I couldn’t think of any others. My bf came up with the first name because I was idea’d out. :P
So anyway. THIS TEA:
It’s dark chocolate (and really flavourful for an Adagio tea!) mixed with sweet strawberry goodness, and back by floral notes. I’m not generally into floral teas, and that was what made me hesitate about this one, but it makes me think of desserts, and valentines day, and happiness and everything shiny.
Y’know… I could maybe drink 3 oz of this. Eventually. :D

This is not your average S’mores tea! It’s not filled with chocolate chips, graham crackers and fake sweetener. And as you would expect, it doesn’t taste the same either.
This is a good thing.
Instead, this tea takes you to the experience of making S’mores. I can taste a little bit of the smoke from the campfire, and beneath that I get subtle chocolate and marshmallow notes. I swear it gets a little sweeter as it cools.
Overall, it’s a very interesting experience!

This intrigued me but the smokey tea thing scared me out of ordering it
I didn’t find it to be very smokey – not nearly so bad as a lapsang. You can just sorta get some of it in the mouthfeel but it’s not scratchy on your throat or harsh like some smoky teas. I think you can order this without smoke too!

Sipdown (212!)
I liked this one, and I’ll miss it. Sadly I oversteeped it had to tone it down with milk. But with milk it’s still strawberry goodness and tart rhubarb.
I need to sip, sip, sip so I can get more lovely Lupicia teas!
This was from my first Simple Loose Leaf box, purchased as part of the deal!
It’s a nice black, with apricot notes, and a little bit of honeyed sweetness. I’m not generally a huge fan of darjeelings but I like this one. It’s a little tart but not astringent. I find myself reaching for another cup after I’ve finished this one!
So far, it’s a great start to this subscription!

Sipdown (213!)
It was so busy with people over last night; two spent the nights it was get up and go, go to breakfast, drop our friends off, run around, visit family and do more stuff. It was a really great day. We went to the garden center and picked up some pots and plants and tomorrow the kiddo and I will mess around and plant them and make a mess. :D I can’t wait.
The only bad part of my day is that I didn’t get my first cup of tea until 9:00pm!!! But I didn’t get a caffeine head-ache until then so that’s maybe a good thing?
This was a nice white tea. Frankly, I’m so exhausted that I can’t really figure out what exactly this tastes like, but it’s nice.

I’m so new to it, but my mom and I would always do a planter for Mother’s day when I lived with her, and now that I’m across the country, I thought I’d try it with my daughter instead! I’ll just plant, and see how it works out, and then learn for next time. (And keep those tags the plants came with close so I can look at them whenever I forget what’s what and how much sun it needs)
You’ll probably pick it up fast. I enjoy watching them grow and fill in the planters.
It’s addicting! I’m stuck with only houseplants because I live in an apartment, but once I successfully kept the first plant alive, it escalated. I now have 8 plants in my apartment and 5 at work :-).
I think Tulsi is a more acquired taste. It’s ok, but I don’t think I’d reach for this one.

i’m not very effected by homeopathic type things. my body’s internal system tends to react better to the freight train approach. and i’m a skeptic of skeptics, …and of skeptic’s skeptics.
but i seriously notice that tulsi totally relaxes me.

Oh, this is a very nice smooth black tea… It’s light and malty. I taste honey, and bread fresh from the oven. Oh man. One cup is really not enough. I almost want to kickstart it just to get 2-4 oz more of this!

My samples arrived today! Yay!
So this is an interesting orange spice tea. Usually it’s all orange and fake sugar/cinnamon but… believe it or not… I can actually taste the black base in this version.
I think I actually prefer this to other orange teas. I guess there are other orange teas that aren’t orange/cinnamon but I don’t recall any offhand. So I’ll stick with this one.
The base is interesting too. It’s harder to say with a blend, but it seems sorta darker/maltier than I’m used to. Almost reminiscent of some of the Kenyan teas. It’s a little woodsier, and it has a rich aftertaste. It’s still really good after it cools.
Sipdown! I finally got a sipdown! Seems like I’m down to one a day but I’m rotating through and trying lots of things. :)
Interesting (to me) factoid:
Last month I had 183 teas that weight 154 oz.
This month I have 214 teas that weigh 149 oz.
Most of it was purchased in the last 9 months so it’s still fresh too!
I’m definitely heading in the right direction!
Oh and this tea: it’s good! I should have known that because Jane Austen Mafia and Tardis both have this (or I’m sure they do) and I really enjoy them. It’s interesting seeing it on it’s own. It’s really quite flavorful without being mixed into a blend!
(I mean it is a blend, but it’s not currently a fandom blend. That’s what I mean) Thanks 221Tea! (I may have called you 221B earlier and I hope you forgive me! Haha)

OMG you know how much tea you have in oz? LOL That is just way too organized. Good job bringing your quantity down (which really is more important than number of). I’m just afraid to even think about quantity – I think I’ll just sit here in the corner being in denial. :))
You did, but I let it slide :) I tried for 221B originally but it was taken, so I’m not upset ;)
Dexter – it’s on my spreadsheet! I enter how much I bought and then periodically go through and do inventory with rough guesses of how much is left of each tea. It halps remind me which ones need some attention (to bring down huge quantities, or finish off little guys).
:) I spend a lot of time on my spreadsheet, but I like it.

Shiny! Kaylee is one of my favorite characters from Firefly. It’s hard to choose just one because all the characters are awesome! How did this get cancelled! I have to get some of these teas :-0
