drank Lychee by Lupicia

Another sipdown! (198)
(and that’s good bc I sorta grabbed 3 more samples today from a Farmer’s Market!)

But I’mstill under 200! Maybe I can hit 190 before the Silpocalypse returns…

Thanks Sil for this one! It’s an ok tea but I’m not really sure what lychee is supposed to taste like, but this is a decent black with fruit. And possibly some creaminess that I may or may not be imagining!

Anna

I feel a little conflicted when it comes to lychee. Do I really need lychee tea? Still undecided.

Courtney

I’m with you Anna.

Sil

i love lychee as a fruit…but this one is gross. i prefer the de frutas.

Thank you 221tea! (199)

I really enjoyed this sample. I’ve had yabao before but was a little indifferent because it’s an expensive tea, and it doesn’t always ‘pop’ for me. Sometimes it just tastes like slightly sweetened waterl

Not this time. This is nice, and light but flavourful. I taste wind in the evergreens, cinnamon and something silky and smooth. It’s gentle and refreshing, and I’m off to resteep another cup!

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 15 sec

drank Shooting Starfruit by DAVIDsTEA

I was bad today and bought this, chocolate macaroon and hot mama! Only 25g each but still – now I’m back at 200 with an uncertain amount soon to be incoming.

No real regrets though! Chocolate macaroon sounded good, I had try hot mama as a belated mother’s day (ok, that’s a stretch?) and this one just sounded good! I bought the kids iced tea tumblr for my daughter, and made some of this for her and she just loved it. It totally blew her little mind! Hahah. I wasn’t worried about the white tea component because it’s just mosty all fruit anyway.

I tried some after and I really enjoyed it too. It’s very tropical without being citrusy. I can taste the mango, and while I can’t recognize the other fruits, they all mix together quite nicely! I think I should keep this one in the fridge all the time for her (us) this summer. The only downside is that it’s a little expensive at $19 for 100g. But I’ll have earned enough points for free tea soon enough!

It totally doesn’t need sugar as the fruit makes it sweet enough on its own!

Tabby

Ooh, I love starfruit! I should try this one.

Virginia

I’m glad I read your note because I bought this one today without smelling it (!) and it smells like soap. Glad to know it doesn’t taste like it :D

TeaLady441

Weird! I hope yours doesn’t taste like soap! I added 2x the leaf, steeped it with the parameters on the bag, and then added it to a jug full of ice!

Roswell Strange

I got soap with my cold brew, but no soapiness hot…

TeaLady441

Odd! Maybe I got lucky?

keychange

Am drinking this iced now and am also loving it!

I finished this up today while listening to the latest Night Vale podcast. What a great episode!!!

Sadly, this tea, like the thing it was named for, causes memory loss (i.e., is completely forgettable). SIPDOWN.

Sencha!
Ooof! And wow. It’s so buttery. It’s so, SO, vegetal. And spinach-y.

It’s an interesting tea to experiment with but it’s just SO GREEN. I’ll try it again later and steep it less to see that allows me to enjoy it more.

Preparation
170 °F / 76 °C 3 min, 15 sec

Surprise! One more Firefly tea! :) I thought I’d lost this but I’d just left it at work. Silly me.

So, this is a peachy oolong, with cream and a little bit of spice. It’s quite calming and relaxing which is awesome because that’s what I need as I’m feeling super anxious at the moment. What gives?

Well, Simon is here to save the day. I’m chilling out a bit.
Thank you VariaTEA! It’s only lightly peachy but the cream is nice. I can go for subtle.

Veronica

This sounds really good!

keychange

Anxiety can feel so consuming. I’m glad the tea is helping.

TeaLady441

Thanks :) Now I just need a nap. haha. #fridays

Shmiracles

not tea related at all…
a Simon/Mal fic was one of the very early first fics i ever read on AO3. my real very first was a the-avengers-make-a-calendar fic idek why. before that Oddree would just send me mobi files of Sherlock fics to read and there were so many that i never needed to look for anything else for well over a year.
this tea sounds really good actually.

TeaLady441

I think my first was probably some Pride & Prejudice fic, but those are fairly common outside of A03. Was Progress of Sherlock Holmes my first? It made the biggest impression… How the hell did I find it? :O (so glad I did – it made me excited about the possibilities out there).

No wait! It was copperbadge’s Harry Potter fic – it finished off book 7 before book 7 was actually published, and in some ways, did a better job. Was my first slash fic: Harry/Sirus

Last sipdown for today! That’s all the firefly teas!
:D

I think I over-steeped this by 10 minutes but it’s totally forgiving. I’m tasting licorice, and orange and lemongrass and it’s really calming. So relaxing. Time for bed.

Dammit. I could possibly buy some of this too. Guys – this person REALLY knows how to blend tea!

ETA There’s no actual licorice in this so maybe it’s the blueberries steeped to the max that I’m tasting?

ETalsoA I’m at 200 teas!!! Bahahah

Sil

are not! lol my house says otherwise…

TeaLady441

Those don’t count (la la la) and the longer I postpone picking them up, the more time I have to sip these ones down?

Sil

…the longer i have to add more…

Oh! I like this one too! It’s a nice black assam, with chai AND lemongrass/coconut. It’s a really interesting combination and I really, really like it. I think this is one of the ones I’ll think about long after it’s gone and want more.

Also, I’m not done yet, but overall I’ve been very impressed with the Firefly teas. The blender has obviously put some thought into each one, and they all taste at least decent with a few standing out. That’s really something! I hope whatshesaid enjoys them as well!

Yeah. This is going on my list, unless it turns terrible once it cools.
Thanks VariaTEA! (202)

Sil

once i try them via variaTEA, we can likely place an order if i love them too..

TeaLady441

Excellent. I am ready for an order anytime – I just need to shut my eyes and not think too hard about the $100 I have in teas on my wishlist…

But! Even though they’re not Butiki level or anything like that, I do find I drink them often enough that I can justify it. Gotta have srsbsns tea and utterlyridic tea for tumblr times!

TeaLady441

I hope you like them though. I a off to look up Amy Zen on Adagio because I was so impressed with how these are blended. If she has fandom teas for other things I’m into, I may be in big trouble… (please have a Destiel tea!!!)

TeaLady441

She has a Hannibal tea!

:| This eventual Adagio order is going to be insane. It’ll be my birthday treat to myself so I’ll just close my eyes and push the button! Hahaha. But I want to make sure that you, VariaTEA and Keychange all have the chance to join in if you so choose since it’s so difficult to order from them… (and I shouldn’t support their shitty shipping policies, but they know I’ll a) pay or b) get around it, and it’s true. I’m basically waiting a thumbsup!

ohfancythat

Woohoo! I’m pumped :)

Sil

Cavo – depending on the order, we could likely send it through Sharon…though i know you like having things come to your door lol

Another one from VariaTEA! I’m just working my way through the whole crew. Hahaha. (203, lalalala, Sil, I can’t hear you!)

I really like this one! I’m not sure why that is either because it’s really just a regular chai with added cinnamon, but perhaps that’s all I need? I love the mix of fierce chai toned down with sweet sweet cinnamon. Zoe’s fierce, but she has heart. :)

Thx!
