1598 Tasting Notes
Thanks Dexter3657! (194)
I drank this yesterday and today and now it’s gone, and both times I had interruptions that messed up my careful consideration of this tea. I know that I really enjoyed it, but couldn’t say why.
That’s ok though. I’ve never really had Capital Teas before and now I’m curious about them. They seem to do straight black teas well!
ETA Wait a minute! I remember people talking about them before and they are SERIOUSLY like a 10 minute drive away from my house. What? I wonder if I could just pick up from them? I mean, eventually. After I pick up my box(es) from Sil
Sipdown! (195)
Thank you 221tea for sending this sample to me! I’m always curious about the base teas Adagio uses since I only buy the blends. This one was a nice fruity mix that my daughter and I drank all afternoon as iced tea. It was a little tart with the hibiscus but not terribly so, and I could have added agave if it was really bad. We drank it up so quickly – that’s a good sign! I’m glad I got to try it, and if the price is reasonable, I’d consider getting more some time! (If I’m doing an adagio order anyway… I def wouldn’t do it JUST for this tea. :P)
I drank a few cups of this today, and then set the rest aside for VariaTEA! She’s passed on so many great teas to me, and now that she’s thinking about dabbling in more straight teas AND puerh, I figured she should try this.
Everyone should. It’s so amaze!
And if it’s a little too strong, add a dash of milk and steep it for less. I steeped it for 1 min, 5 min and 10 minutes this time around.
I agree, everyone should try this one! too late for tonight, but I think I will make it my morning tea tomorrow :-)
Haha I am NOT trying pu’erhs. I have tried a few and I am just not a fan however I did agree to try this one as a result of your positive comments :)
It’s a sipdown! (197) I saved this cup for today because it’s the last season of Season 2!
I’m still reeling a little bit from the SPN finale (yet I’m really excited about where they’re going to go with this, and EVEN MORE excited about the fic it’ll generate) but I’m nervous and excited about tonight’s Hannibal finale.
But at least I WILL FINALLY be able to talk about what’s going to happen!!!
Here’s a quick crack!vid for your friday viewing pleasure:

oh no..now I’m worried… I haven’t seen the SPN finale yet because baseball is on every week when SPN is on. Then they move it to Saturday!
Oh phew. I’m happy I didn’t actually say anything that was a real spoiler. I would have felt awful. :P I forget that not everyone goes onto tumblr and sees a billion reaction gifs!
OMG, the SPN reaction gifs have me rolling on the FLOOR. Umm. Which might not be a normal reaction? But. Show.
Another tea from Dexter3657! (198)
I’m really really happythat I was sent this sample because it was a tea I was interested in trying, and nearly bought on my last order just because I was curious.
Boy… am I glad I didn’t. It’s an ok tea, but it’s not for me. It’s not what I wanted. :P
So thank you Dexter3657 for letting me try this out first!
And here’s another sample from Dexter3657! This sipdown puts me back at 199. #cackles. :P I keep hovering around that number. I’ll probably be at 200 a month from now!
But this was a really lovely Assam. I drank a cup this morning, and enjoyed it so much I made it again for the afternoon. Sadly I oversteeped it (10 minute? Or more? Whoops) but it still tastes good. I just diluted it a little bit to fix it. It’s really malty and bold and deep. I had RiverTea’s assam just yesterday so I think that helps make this one stand out in comparison.
(Sorry RiverTea. I love your fruit teas, but your unflavoured ones are not as good. But I totally rec your fruit ones. ILU. :P)
Thank you Dexter3657! I’m happy I got to experiment more with Fauchon, but I found that this didn’t have enough fruit for me. It was barely apricot? I still enjoyed trying it; I just wouldn’t buy any.
I bet Lupicia would have an amazing apricot tea! :D

Time to be brave and drink another puerh!
I didn’t know how to steep it so I gave it a 10 second rinse, after bringing it to boiling. Then I steeped it for 1 minute because I’m too much of a coward to go for longer. :P
I really could have gone longer. This cup is really light and mild. It’s earthy but good earthy? As it cools I detect a little bit of honeyed sweetness. Lovely! :D I’m going to have to steep this a few more times to get a better idea of this tea but I am enjoying it so far.
Thank you TerriHarpLady and Sil for passing this on to me. :)
Sipdown: 187 (which is good timing as I have a pkg from Dexter arriving today!)
Thank you Angel for sending me this (and other ) samples! (192)
I haven’t had a lot of experience drinking pure puerh so I was hesitant to try this, yet excited. It’s complicated. I steeped it for 3 minutes as a play-it-safe way to start. I figure I can always re-steep it for longer if I get brave enough!
And so I sip! And it’s quite nice! It’s not OMG It’s lightly earthy and slightly sweet and there’s just a little bit of smoke too. Am I imagining that? Interesting! I’m starting to get used to puerhs!
Thank you 221Tea! I actually quite adore this one and I don’t care that it’s just a ‘bagged tea’.
The coconut adds a buttery quality to the blend, while the cocoa, dates and chicory add to the flavour. It’s quite amazing. The barley adds a bit of weight to it. It almost makes me think of chocolate macaroons! And the fact that this is an herbal makes it more interesting.
Sipdown (195!)
Pickup could be nice!
cavo….we can do a joint shopping order with capital teas. I’ve had a few of their teas but their quantities are larger…sooo yeah.
Sounds good Sil! I looked at the site, and while I’m interested, I’m a little overwhelmed by the choices. Splitting sounds like the best plan!
