2816 Tasting Notes
I got this tea at Whole Foods today, definitely an impulse buy. I was there getting lunch and I thought this would be nice as an after lunch tea. Ginger is my favorite after mealtime tea because it helps with my digestion, plus I really like the flavor! The green tea is a darjeeling.
I found one teabag was not really enough to flavor my entire glass thermos so my tea was a bit on the weak side. I got a vegetal, slightly nutty green tea with a mild amount of ginger. Altogether not unpleasant. I will try again soon with two teabags to boost the flavor. I should stop buying teabags but they’re just so much more convenient for the office.

Thanks to Wymm tea for sending me this sample. I feel bad that it’s taken me so long to try what they sent me but I haven’t been around at home that much to be drinking any shengs during the day. I was surprised a bit by the bitterness of this one. I don’t think it’s a good tea to drink on an empty stomach, I had to go grab a banana to eat with it and that’s kind of a nice combination. This has some very nice floral notes but I think it could benefit from some further aging as it seems pretty rough to me at this time. Some of the other tasters mentioned sweet notes which I am not getting at all but perhaps it’s a matter of individual palettes? Not sure how to rate this one.
Preparation
My sweetie is out of town this weekend and I am tempted to just stay at home and drink tea! I haven’t done that for a while. I definitely plan to have a few sessions with some of my yixings.
I love a good assam in the morning. This came from Marzipan tea lover and is really hitting the spot on this foggy morning. It has a nice, malty heft without being muddy or flat. I am picking up a slight fruit or wine type of note. I definitely would recommend drinking this with milk. Mine was good with Silk Soymilk! I found I didn’t need to add sugar to this. Would consider having this around as sort of a standard every day assam. But I do like my old stand-by, which is the Organic assam from Harney & Sons.
thanks again Marzipan!

I picked this up at GNC the other day when I was there buying something else. I’m generally not a big believer in “detox” teas but I do find that dandelion root helps me a bit when I’m feeling bloated or like I’ve had too much to eat.
This is sort of an interesting combo, it has licorice and star anise in it along with chicory, schisandra and a lycium fruit. The box describes this as bitter and earthy and I would have to agree. It reminds me of a lemony licorice spice. I am not finding the flavor of this to be very enjoyable. It tastes more like medicine to me, but that’s the point I guess. It’s difficult to say whether it’s doing anything for my health but I guess it can’t hurt!

there is a different flavor one i did a review on —→ http://steepster.com/teas/traditional-medicinals/12255-lemon-everyday-detox-tea
I picked this up at the Spicely store and was kind of sold on it after they told me it was like a peppermint patty. Unfortunately I am not really getting the cacao with this one. It’s a pleasant white tea with mint flavor and that makes it nice for the afternoon. I’m picking up more vanilla than cacao. It’s ok enough but they should fix the flavor or the name, me thinks…. I’ll probably finish off the tin I have but don’t think I’ll be buying more of it.

Sipdown…
Finally done with this one! I brought it to the office so I could focus on drinking it. I like the roasted quality of this one but found if it got steeped for too long it took on a very tart-like flavor similar to hibiscus or rose hips. It is better gong fu’d but I haven’t really discovered a practical way to do that at the office! I miss my teapots at home and I definitely haven’t been drinking as much pu’erh as I used to without the yixings on hand. :-/
Preparation
I’m finally getting around to trying this herbal blend I got in S.F. a few weeks ago. Dolores Day… evidently named for Dolores Park, a place the locals like to go hang out on the weekends when it’s sunny. This is definitely a good blend with lemon balm, peppermint and lavender. I don’t normally like lavender in tea but it’s subtle and nice and the lemon balm gives it a pleasant, herby note. I also feel like this would be good with some turbinado sugar but I’m trying to resist that for now. T-We makes some really nice blends and this just makes me happy for some reason ….
Preparation
I’m having a bit of a lull in my crazy work day, so I thought I’d try this tea today. It came in the Lupicia holiday gift set/grab bag extravaganza earlier this year.
This looks like a pretty standard CTC assam, from what I can see in the teabag. It got steeped in my tea tumbler and then I added some vanilla almond milk afterwards. It’s a decent assam, malty, a bit fruity and with a bit of a sweet aftertaste. I have definitely had worse assams! I didn’t really feel that this needed sugar. Perhaps the almond milk was sweet enough?
Anyway I liked this as a morning tea but will probably not need to buy any soon. Still working on sipping down some of my other black teas at the moment. ;)
There are times when I just want a simple teabag too.
@Ubabcat – we just have a sink at work with no garbage disposal. I worry about tea leaves getting in the sink. I need to get some of those tea-sacs.
