237 Tasting Notes
Why did I buy this??? I dislike rooibos so much! Honestly, sometimes I think when I buy tea my brain shuts off and I go into “buy everything” mode. Last “tea” of the night. The dry leaf scent is almost identical to an unchewed piece of dentyne ice fire. The steeped product smells like cinnamon hearts. So far, no rooibos scent. Good…
Wow this is sweet. It tastes of cinnamon and not much else. Anyone know someone who might want this? Although I don’t find it bad or anything, I doubt I will be drinking the whole bag.
Update: my lips and area around my mouth are numb and slightly burning. I have never experienced this with any spice or ingredient in my life. Weird.
So to continue my daily night time tea binge, I decided to try this again after seeing whatshesaid’s tasting note on it. Steeped at 75 degrees for 3 minutes and WOW what a world of difference. The butter notes are still there, but much more tame (does not taste like popcorn this time ha), with coconut, grass and something that reminds me of hazelnut. As it cools down, floral notes start appearing. It is a lovely tea and I am glad I took the time to make it with love because it’s loving me back right now.
I love the ingredients on this lol “Pineapple (pineapple, sugar), mango (mango, sugar)” why not just “sweetened pineapple”? Weird. Anyways, I actually really really enjoyed this (cold brewed). It tastes like fruit punch juice. with a bit more pineapple, and probably about 5% of the sugar that actual fruit punch contains. Definitely switching over from fruit juice to this for the summer.
After the whole Shooting Star Fruit incident, I thought I would try a summer tea that I’ve only had served hot and try it cold. I already know I like it, so this should be good. Steeped double the amount of tea for half the amount of water, at 96 deg for 7 minutes with a bit of agave, poured over ice. I remember when I tried it the first time it was only a 5g sample and the liquor was a pale yellow, but now it is pink, so I guess my earlier sample was lacking beets.
Although it is very good iced, I think I prefer it hot! The flavors appear in an interesting fashion when you drink this warm. When you drink this cold, it’s a pretty straightforward: watermelon, then mint. That’s not a bad thing though, when I drink iced tea, I want to feel refreshed and taste something good and uncomplicated. It is very refreshing and I could see myself drinking a whole pitcher of it when it’s 35 degrees outside.
I’m reading everybody else’s reviews and I can’t help but to think there is no WAY I am drinking the same thing they are. I made iced tea with this and the flavors that pop into mind are apple (ok not so bad), jackfruit (again ok whatever) and a sort of bitter, terrible soap taste. It’s worst than soap. I can imagine laundry detergent tasting like this. A lot of people like it, so maybe it’s just me that screwed it up horribly, but I mean, there is like 3 twigs of something that might be white tea’s cousin in there, with a bunch of fruit. Can you really screw up herbal tea? Agave makes it more palatable but definitely not better. I think I prefer DT"s Pink Lemonade over this. Which says a lot about how much I just don’t like it. I really WANTED to like it, and it makes me sad that I don’t.
I cut up a watermelon, have a pot of corn on the burner, clothes hanging up outside and flowers on the table. SUMMER IS HERE FRIENDS AND I AM ECSTATIC! :D As my 9 month old happily chomps down on watermelon, the Sikh temple down the street is holding a celebration and tons of women are walking down the street in colourful saris and beautiful jewellery. This is a a beautiful beautiful day and I want to drink beautiful tea.
The dry leaf aroma is quite subtle, mostly jasmine with a hint of green tea. It smells wonderful. The brewed tea scent is very floral: all jasmine and lilac and wonderful. This tea tastes like a bouquet of fresh flowers, not perfume. The taste of green tea is soft and pleasing, not vegetal but the main star is definitely the jasmine. The liquid is soft on the tongue, with a very very VERY slight astringency at the end that adds a wonderful quality to it. Zero bitterness, zero grass. For the first steep I did 2 minutes at 80degrees and the second, 3 minutes at 80 degrees. The first cup was light and the floral notes were much more prominent in the second. Butterfly jasmine why you so expensive though :(
This tea is very good. It is a great cup to grab on the go, when you want to drink something yummy quickly. It is very good as a whole, and the flavor profile is quite simple. Malty, sweet, probably tastes like what people that aren’t really into tea expect a black tea to taste like. I enjoy it a lot. Gets the job done :)
After eating a whole bulb of fennel drizzled with a bit of olive oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper for dinner, I’m now drinking warm apple pie.
1. It’s 11pm. Late supper I guess.
2. Liquid apple pie deliciousness. The trick is to use about 3 tsp for 8 oz of water and it’s perfect.
I drank this very absent-mindedly but it was very good. I will give it a rating at another time, after tasting it properly. When I opened the bag, I instantly recognized the smell but couldn’t put my finger on it. After about 10 mins of obsessing over it and smelling it over and over again I still couldn’t figure it out.
Then, in the middle of feeding my 9 month old I was like “Eureka!” It smells like chicken bones, the little shiny pink Christmas candies with the chocolate in the middle. Sugar, cinnamon, mint, chocolate and a minuscule hint of cherry. I can’t wait to focus on it a bit more.
