After much talk/begging/bullying from a friend I broke down and started watching Doctor Who. I don’t need one more thing to potentially suck hours of my life away, but I told my friend I’d give the show a fair shot. In turn she is going to read Jane Eyre or The Brothers Karamazov, two of my favorite classic novels. I guess we’ll each broaden our horizons.

Before settling into the show I made a big mug of this tea. It’s very cake-y tonight. There’s still pineapple but not as much as usual. I am getting toward the bottom of my bag, so that might have something to do with it. At any rate, this is a wonderful dessert tea and perfect for curling up under a blanket while watching tv.

yay! another who-vian.

‘I drink pineapple cake tea. Pineapple cake tea is cool’.

I want to try this. I keep waiting for the chocolate covered strawberry to come back in a small size so I can order more things from Della Terra. :)

Lariel – hahah.
Which episode(s) are you starting with? For a reluctant first-timer that could make a very big difference! I started with 2005’s Series One, but it took me a few to get into it because some of it was cringe-worthy. It got so much better though. <3

Veronica

Cavocorax, I’m starting with 2005’s series one, also. Nate, my friend, really likes the Doctor in season 2, but I started with the previous season just so I would have an idea of what’s going on. I’m only a few episodes in, so I’m still reserving judgement. :)

drank Angry Pumpkin Tea by Design a Tea

I received this as one of several samples with my last Design a Tea order. Thank you, Brian, for the generosity!

Yesterday was a near perfect summer day for me. I spent the day at the beach with my kids, my best friend, and her kids. Last night I went to a baseball game (I love baseball) where my team managed to come back in the ninth inning for a spectacular win. Great friends, good food, wonderful weather… it was lovely. So I was surprised by my desire for all things fall today. I find myself daydreaming about apples and cinnamon, cooler weather and sweaters. When I went digging through my tea stash for an autumn inspired tea this one was the easy winner.

The tea is spicy – mostly nutmeg – with the pumpkin being much more subtle. I like that the tea doesn’t scream pumpkin (even though it is called Angry Pumpkin) and that the tea manages to have spice without tasting like a chai. It’s unique and really nice. Definitely something I could enjoy on a cool fall evening. Add a blanket and a good mystery novel and I’d be one happy girl!

drank Moroccan Mint by Della Terra Teas
1118 tasting notes

My morning cup. I like the amount of smokiness I get from this tea. It’s quite a bit stronger than other Moroccan Mints I’ve tried. It works because the peppermint flavor is strong enough to give it balance. Usually I prefer spearmint or a blend of mints in my MM tea, but this one is nice as is.

drank 1st Flush Darjeeling by Unknown
1118 tasting notes

Put this in my travel mug to drink on the way to church this morning. This is not a travel mug tea. My mug kept the tea too hot, and I couldn’t really taste anything. And I burnt my tongue. So basically I went to church in a very grumpy mood. Oh well, now I know to save this tea for my pretty mugs and to use my travel mug for a nice builder’s tea.

See my previous note for my thoughts on this tea and why I’m so sad I couldn’t taste it with a burnt tongue. :p

drank Masala Chai by Wegmans

My morning cup. I needed something that would kick me into gear quickly, so I added some extra Assam tea to my chai. It was less spicy overall, but it was still really good. Definitely got me going.

drank Caramel Creme by Della Terra Teas

There’s a thread on the discussion board about dessert teas which made me think about this tea. Then I realized it’s been quite a long time since I’ve had it, so tonight while the rest of my family had their snacks I made a mug of this. After adding cream and sugar I had a smooth, sweet treat that tasted a lot like a praline minus the nuts. Good stuff.

This sounds really good!

drank Watermelon by Southern Boy Teas
1118 tasting notes

We had this with dinner again tonight. My husband decided to grill hamburgers, and as soon as we started prepping the food our oldest came in and asked if this tea was in the fridge. She said it would be perfect with dinner, and she was right.

When I made this I only used 1/8 a cup of sugar to sweeten two quarts of tea. Last time I used 1/4 a cup, and it was a touch too sweet. This time there was still a lovely watermelon flavor, but I didn’t feel like my teeth were going to fall out of my head.

This is currently my favorite flavored iced tea. Frank did a great job coming up with these blends!

I’m becoming a fan of Darjeeling more and more. I’ve also been wanting to try SST teas for weeks now. Today all the stars aligned and I was able to make it to the grocery store that sells SST and get home before a soul in my house was awake. Sometimes it’s the little things. :)

This blend is very nice. The color is a dark copper, and the initial smell is dry grass. Not hay – grass. The tea has a smooth and creamy feel. There weren’t many fruity notes, but the floral ones were delightful. Next time I make this I’ll shorten the steeping time. I followed the recommended five minute steep, but I think a lot of the subtler flavors might be noticeable with a four minute steep.

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons

It’s been awhile since I’ve had this one. It has a great vanilla flavor, and I really like the tea base. Even though it’s decaffeinated it still has a bit of heft and nice malty notes. I added some cream and sugar to my cup and am enjoying sipping on this while I read other people’s tasting notes. That’s about as wild and crazy as my Friday nights get. :)

Fuzzy_Peachkin

That’s my kind of Friday night!

caile

Haha! Me too.

drank Banana Pudding Black Tea by 52teas
1118 tasting notes

A big thank you to Courtney for sending me this tea as part of our swap. I’m so happy to have it back in my cupboard!

I had a great big mug of this today, and it was excellent. Lots of banana flavor, hints of coconut, and a wonderful creaminess. The combination does remind me of banana pudding. As far as banana teas go, this is my favorite, and because Courtney was so generous I have plenty of tea to hot and cold brew. Yay!!!
