drank Chocolate Chai by Wegmans

Oh, this is really good today. Lots of chocolate but a good amount of spice, too. I added frothed milk and some honey which made it that much nicer. Love a good chai.

drank Banana Pudding Black Tea by 52teas

I’m not sure why I like this tea so much in the morning. It seems like an afternoon tea, but I love drinking it at breakfast. I especially love drinking it on days when my main goal is to not leave my house (I hate trying to navigate the parking lots on Black Friday). So today I will enjoy the banana-coconuty-creamy goodness that is this tea while I browse tea sites and possibly buy myself a gift (or two).

This tea is delicious in its own right, but with a dark chocolate brownie it’s ah-mazing. One of the best tea/food pairings I’ve ever had. The blueberry and nutmeg in the tea somehow made the chocolate in the brownie that much more decadent. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to fall into a sugar coma. ;)

Taking a quick break from the family to say Happy Thanksgiving, Steepster! I hope where ever you are that your day has totally rocked and that you’ve had some amazing tea to drink.

I had a cup of this earlier today while I was trying to simultaneously cook and clean (it turns out that’s really hard to do!). Every time I drink this I’m impressed with how good it is. It’s a great take on iced wine. I’m still loving the pear flavor and the light floral note. Also, this tea smells great. I want my whole house to smell like that all the time.

drank Blood Orange by Zen Tea

I had this earlier today, and I have to say I was surprised by how good it was. I mixed it with a little bit of the Zen Tea’s vanilla, and it was divine. Lots of tang and that tongue tingling feeling I sometimes get when eating an orange, but it was mellowed out just enough by the vanilla. Yum.

drank Organic Darjeeling by Wegmans

I wrote a note for this, but Steepster ate it. sigh Short version…

This is a very nice tea. Lovely amber color with the smell of dry grass and flowers. The muscatel flavor is faint at first, but it becomes more pronounced as the tea cools. It’s crisp and clean at the finish which I found really refreshing. The second stepping was much like the first with perhaps a bit more of a grapey flavor throughout the sip.

I’m super happy Wegman’s is carrying this! I think this is the tea I’ll serve with dessert at our Thanksgiving meal.

I like this tea. It has a strong base tea and a nice vanilla flavor. However, every time I drink it I find myself thinking about Harney and Sons vanilla teas. There’s a depth to the vanilla in H&S teas that this one is missing. I’ll have no problem finishing the rest of this one, but I don’t see myself reordering.

drank Earl Grey Cream by Zen Tea

First tea of the morning. I haven’t had this tea in a couple of months, so having it in my cup again was like coming home. It’s such a delightful blend of the classic Earl Grey and vanilla. The bergamot is strong, but it doesn’t overpower the tea, and the vanilla adds a wonderful creamy note throughout. I was wondering if I’d still be over the moon about this tea while it was brewing, and the answer is yes. This is my perfect EGC.

Another reason I’m happy to have this back in my cup is for the caffeine and the comfort. I’m gearing up for Thanksgiving with my family (cooking and cleaning and baking, oh my!), and I’m also baking pies for friends and working on several special orders that I’ve received. I have never had this many orders to crochet before Christmas, and while I’m thrilled that my business is gaining some momentum I’m also staying incredibly busy. So I think my tea cup will full for the next few weeks!

This has been in my cup all week. I keep trying to talk myself into drinking something else, but all I want is a nice Darjeeling. I’ve found that I like this tea best when it’s steeped for 3 minutes and 45 seconds because I still get the toasty notes, but the floral flavor comes through at the end of the sip. There’s also a decent amount of astringency which is refreshing. It’s sooo good.

The second steeping (full 5 minutes) of the leaves really brings out the muscatel flavor. The toasty, nutty notes are gone and everything is fruit and flowers. Lovely. Getting two wonderfully different cups from one tea bag is such a treat. I’m glad I played with the steeping times. This went from being a so-so tea for me to being a cupboard staple.

Every time I drink this tea I think of peach orchards and barbecues. The peach orchard I understand because of the woody flavor that combines with the stone fruit. Barbecue? There’s no smokey note. Not even a hint. I have no idea why that pops into my head. Strange.

I know this is not a high quality tea, but there’s something about it that I really enjoy. The fruit flavors (more peach than apricot) and the woody note just work for me. I do wish the base tea was a higher quality, but regardless I’ll keep drinking this. It’s a good one.
