drank Yu Lu Yan Cha Black by Verdant Tea

Another sample from Dexter3657. I had expressed the desire to try this tea in a post, and abracadabra, it’s here! (Cause Dexter notices, yes she does, and then she tosses some aside for you!)

Can’t help comparing it to Laoshan black. It does have similarities, but it’s got a personality of its own. Though it is chocolaty, with big notes of honey and sweet potatoes, it’s not as rich and malty as LB is.

I get some spice in the background, and a faint sourness that is not at all displeasing, almost apple cider like.

A very satisfying cup, among the best black teas I have tried for sure.

I’m having it western style, in my new favourite mug. Beleive me when I say I spend a fortune in teaware every year… And yet, my favourite mug of the moment was bought in a Dollar store for $2! It’s the perfect size and all my favourite infusers fit perfectly in it! Goes to show how much price tags are irrelevant!

I have the same mug I got fr Walmart . I love it.

I have to admit I use it not only for tea. I like to put my Irish oatmeal with dried fruits granola and touch of kefir in it. Yes I know, I’m that weird. It’s just perfect size for anything.

I’m married to straight Black. I have torrid love affairs with Oolong and Puerh. I party with Green and White occasionally. Flavored are not my BFF, I usually stay away from them.

I’ve been drinking tea for as long as I can remember.

Drinking tea is a sensorial experience. The name in itself “Camellia Sinensis” lingers the promess of an adventure for the senses…

Not a big «swapper», but will occasionally. Not because I don’t want to share but because I’m trying not to hoard so much.

Also, I have narrowed down the teas I really like over the years, and I don’t feel the need to try and buy everything the way I used to. (Maybe I have become a tea snob? Sigh…)

My ratings: because I pretty much drink only teas that I judge exceptional, my ratings are usually high. Don’t be shocked to see lots of 90’s and a few 100’s. That’s because I’ve had my share of crapy teas and I’m done with that ;-)
