Well, it’s a black tea base, so that’s something. Peppermint and black tea is a pretty common mixture and the marshmallow root adds some creaminess so it’s a good tea, but I’m not finding anything really special about it. Drinkable but not very memorable.

So I won’t be rating this because it will artificially bring down the overall rating because I really shouldn’t be drinking this in the first place. But I did because I’m a bit OCD like that and I’ve got a 52teas montly subscription for a year and I’m going to drink at least one cup of all of them dammit. But I really shouldn’t be rating this because I KNEW I wouldn’t like it. I don’t like a single ingredient in it.

It’s actually not as horrible as I thought it would be. The cinnamon is an unpleasant tingle and the cayenne I hate so much. But I actually think I don’t mind the green tea so much, it doesn’t have the weirdness of flavour that puts me off all of the ones I’ve tried so far. Maybe I’ve just been drinking low quality ones? Mostly in restaurants.

So hey Alphakitty, you want this?

Drinking this some more this morning. Not quite sure what I did to it this time, but it’s moderately astringent and I am just not in the mood for that today.

Finally got around to opening up my package from 52teas and I picked this tea to be my first try. I do love chocolate and I’m still trying to find my perfect chocolate tea. It feels so nice in my hands as I wait for it to cool down enough to drink.

This has finally cooled down to a drinkable temperature. Now I fully admit that I doctored this with some skim milk and sugar, but it tastes amazing. The chocolate is fully present in this and the black base is mildly in the background being a good supporting cast. This tea is really good. Not as thick as a real hot chocolate would be but the flavour is all there. Delicious.

So I will say that the tea was reheated in the microwave after I made it due to the fact that I didn’t want to get up and make a cup of it from the pot after the timer went off (It didn’t oversteep, just cooled off) because of the cat in my lap. This particular kitty of mine has cancer so I try to indulge her whenever she lets me so I figured that my tea could wait a while.

On to the tea. It’s definitely a lemon tea, I can clearly taste the lemon in it, especially on the aftertaste. I’m not sure, but I don’t think I prefer it over using an actual lemon though, but if an actual lemon is not available this is an acceptable substitute. I think I might give it to my mother for the makings of iced tea. She likes her iced tea to be plain black, unsweetened, with lemon and it seems that this would be perfect for that.

Not sure why there isn’t an entry for this until now. Maybe no one else but me is sick?

This tea has a lot going on and I can clearly taste most of the ingredients, especially the fennel and thyme. It looks like a medicinal blend and tastes like one too, but it isn’t a bad tasting blend in the least. I can’t vouch for its efficacy, but I’d really like my runny nose to go away since I’m suffering from the tail end of my bout of the flu.

The rating of this reflects its comparison to other medicinal blends. Not the taste on a standard scale comparing all teas.

The fennel does come through, as does the thyme. Did you add a bit of sweetener to it?

Hi, thanks for responding! Yes, I did add a bit of sweetener to it. I tend to for most teas since I find it brings out flavours better for me.

drank Chocolate Chai by Wegmans

A gift from Jude! Finally getting around to trying it.

This isn’t a very strong or sharp chai. I’m not really getting any chocolate out of it either, but it is pleasant. Not something I would go out of my way to get, but definitely drinkable. I’m a bit picky about the chai I will drink because a lot of it is too strong or too ginger-y for me. But this one is nice.

I got this in a swap from Jude. Just enough to make a 4-cup pot of it, perfect! Not so awesome that this tea seller has gone out of business?

This is a nice cup of tea, malty and sweet with a bit of caramel flavour to it. Very tasty. This tea gets a bit smokey as it cools though, not enough to turn me off, just enough to make it interesting.

drank Valentines by Adagio Teas
772 tasting notes

This came for my January/February Tea of the Month club from Adagio. So far I’m enjoying it.

Opening up the bag, the tea just whaps you one in the face with the smell of chocolate covered strawberries. Really so. As it steeps, the scent mutates into a sort of creamier version of the same. It’s really very pleasant.

Drinking this really hot, I mostly pick up chocolate and a bit of floral which must be the rose petals. As it cools, the strawberry comes out much more and combines to make a really nice tea that really does remind me of Valentine’s day. Adagio did a good job with this one.

And the flu that I’ve had for the last week is finally going away. My cats (all 5 of them) will be sad that I won’t be spending another week at home on the couch napping all the time but I must bring home the money to keep them in the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed. I am glad I’ve gotten over this now though, because I fly to Orlando Florida next weekend to go themeparking with my sister. I just bought tickets for the both of us (being the less poor of us, and it being my idea, I’m picking up the tab). It will be fun, hopefully. I haven’t been on a roller coaster in more than a decade…

This came as part of my tea of the month club order from Adagio this January. Darjeelings aren’t my favourite but I like them alright. Still waiting for this one to cool down for a taste that doesn’t burn my tongue. I did add milk and sugar, as I do with most black teas.

This tastes pretty good, with a smooth feel and a sweetness above the sugar I added. I’m still not sure what ‘muscatel’ means exactly in terms of tea, but this tastes like the other darjeelings I’ve tried, with hardly any astringency or bitterness.
