drank I Love Lemon by Bigelow

One more tea of the evening….

This tea is the big guns. I drink this with manuka honey. You have been Ma-NUKED! Die, you annoying cold, die! :D (I think I am getting a little delirious……or I have watched a few too many action adventure films.)

12 oz mug, 2 bags, freshly boiled water, 6 minutes. Manuka-ed.

Had some at lunch yesterday with Yoplait lemon chiffon yogurt. Perfect combination. (I need leave-the-bag-in sorts of teas for work; this one’s great. I don’t think you can oversteep.)

I think everyone’s getting a cold now. I have one too =/ Feel better soon!

Uniquity

There’s a cold over here too! : )

Tea of the evening…and actually the second pot of this for today as I had some in the early morning that I did not log.

The more I drink this one, the more I like it. I am pretty sure I oversteeped this time as I forgot to set the timer. Still tastes good. It is soothing my throat and is helping to clear the sinuses.

ChOTD…..

Looking for a good dose of ginger for my cold. This was divine. I am really loving chai. I need an herbal chai very soon. Any good suggestions? Rooibos will be fine for this as long as the usual chai flavors are very present.

Prepped by the usual pan method.

Tea of the afternoon….

Darn. I am getting a cold. I usually do this time of the year, but I though I had missed it for the most part. So I am trying to drown myself in spicy teas….it has been this, a ginger peach tea, and holy basil. Well, my ChOTD, too.

I did a few things different this time. For the first steep, I completely forgot to sweeten it. Turns out, it does not need it…at all. I think I need to start buying the herbal version of this by the pound. I also did a second steep on this one for the first time. It was lighter on the cinnamon, but still very enjoyable. I amy have to add honey tomorrow just to kick this cold to the curb.

1st steep 4 minutes, 2nd steep 6 minutes.

I hope you feel better soon!

A pound of this arrived on my porch yesterday :) I am splitting it with my coworker’s boyfriend who I hope will let my coworker have some :) Last time I gave him some he drank it all before my coworker could have some, he loved it so much!

Backlog of tea from last night….

This was another of my power of suggestion brews…. I had this one before bed. And it was good. I do love the unique flavor of this one. Also, it just makes me feel relaxed. I do see it becoming an evening staple.

8 minute steep by the usual temp and volume.

ChOTD…..

I am going to miss this one when it is gone. I have a feeling the reason I like it so much is the amount of chocolate tea in there…… yum! Trying to preserve this mix at least until the end of the tin before I go adding more.

Prepped by the usual pan method.

drank Gong Fu Black by Zhi Tea

Tea of the late morning……

After JacquelineM posted to LadyLondonderry that she bought some of this without sampling, I had to brew some up. I am really a sucker for the power of suggestion these days. Lately, there have been so many tasting notes or posts read that have driven me to drink….. ;)

Great as always! I do love this one and am so happy I have nearly a Winter’s supply….

Steeped by the usual parameters.

The only drawback to this tea is that whenever I see its name, “Kung Fu Fighting” starts playing in my head and continues for hours …

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Tea of the wee hours of the morning….. I would love to know why I am so awake this early!

I finally got the message that for me this tea does not hold up to added milk products. I must have pumpkin spice latte on the brain….. This time, I steeped it and only added sweetner. It is quite a bit better this way. I am thinking that pumpkin is a subtle flavor with a kind of warmth, and for some reason most pumpkin teas seem kind of weak to me right now. I guess I am in a phase where super cinnamon is good, so subtle doesn’t really cut it. Enjoyable but not stapleworthy.

Steeped by the usual parameters. Lightly sweetened.

Tea of the morning…..

I did alter the ratios just a little to incorporate some of Harney’s Rose Scented at the recommendation of Dinosara last time around. Since my math brain is a little fuzzy this morning, the ratios are 1Rose Scented:3 Vanilla Black:2 Black Currant. I know it sounds crazy, but I usually do 3 perfect teaspoons (or 4 1/2 actual teaspoons) per pot. That works out to be 1 scoop Black Currant, half a scoop Rose Scented, and 1 1/2 scoops Vanilla Black. Are we utterly confused, yet?

I do like the addition of the rose. I am not sure it is totally necessary, but it is Rosie’s Hobbit Tea, after all! I would definitely make it this way again. And it is reminiscent of that favorite Mafia tea blend!

My motto: Drink the good tea!

Tea enthusiast, trying to keep up my cardio for the zombie apocalypse. I have come to accept that I am a western brewing black tea drinker as that is where my ‘tea heart’ lies. I started on loose leaf as a way to have my dessert and not suffer the caloric issues. Once I tried it, I was hooked.

I drink what I like, which is mostly China blacks, a few traditionally scented blacks and Earl Greys, plus a flavored tea here and there. I don’t mind spending a bit on premium varieties on occasion, but an expensive tea has to deliver. My favorite places to order are Harney & Sons and Upton Tea Imports. TeaVivre is great for Chinese tea.

My ratings are pretty subjective. If it falls under 70, I may not take the time to post about it unless I had something specific to say. If it is 70-80 I like it, but I will probably not rebuy. Favorites are over 80 and up, but sometimes the less expensive or more easily obtainable version of a similar taste will win out for my cupboard space.

Usual teapot steeping method: 24 oz teapot, 3 perfect scoops of tea (4 1/2 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Usual mug steeping method: 15 oz mug, 1.5 perfect scoops of tea (just over 2 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Usual pan method: 1 1/2 cups water, 2 perfect tsp chai (3 actual tsp). Simmer for 3 minutes. Add 2/3 cup skim milk. Simmer for 2 more minutes. Strain and sweeten.

Usual pitcher method:
5 or 6 Perfect Spoons of tea (this means about 7-9 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, brewed essentially double-strong in my 24 oz teapot for 4 minutes. Fill my Fiestaware Disc pitcher (about 60 oz.) halfway with ice. Add brewed double-strong tea to the pitcher. Stir it a little and enjoy. No additions.

(*SRP is my Sample/Stash Reduction Plan starting on April 12, 2012. I got so far, but just decided it was too fussy to keep track.)
