289 Tasting Notes
Spring is in the air! It’s not the melting snow and sublime temps in the 30’s that clue me in to this, either. It’s the fact that I am actually wanting to drink green tea! All winter I think I drank green tea once. All I’ve been wanting is super roasted oolong and black tea. All of my green tea has been languishing. Maybe now I can finally drink up some of my older green teas!
This tea is PERFECT today. I’ve had this tea for quite awhile and I think it tastes even better with age. Super mellow, and buttery, and popcorn-y.
Preparation
This is a Pre packaged sample from Teavana, hence REALLY REALLY sweetened. I don’t usually drink sweetened tea, so this is making me feel I went all out with syrups at a Starbucks or something. Since it’s so sweetened, I only really taste sugar and cinnamon. A pity, since it has so many great ingredients.
I’ve been trying to avoid caffeine in the evening, so I pulled out this herbal. I had enough left for one more steeping- a sipdown! I’ve been doing a lot of sipdowns lately, which means I finally get to do a tea order! I have been enduring a long, self-inflicted hiatus from buying tea.
I tried this with milk and it was nummy! Very minty!
Preparation
Thanks Angel and Teavivre for another tasty sample!
This is my first osmanthus tea! I don’t like it quite as much as jasmine, but much more than rose. The floral scent is stronger than the actual taste. The floral taste goes very well with the green oolong. Overall, I find this first steep to be creamy, floral, lightly ‘green’, and quite sweet. Really sweet. I used the whole packet, so to avoid it being too strong I only steeped it for 30s, and it turned out perfect for me.
This second steep at 45s is much stronger. The floral is waaay out there now. I probably could have just gone with 30s. I know it’s been said many times, but these type of green and floral teas always make me think of spring and summer. Sitting in a flower garden sipping this (and reading a novel) would be enough to make one feel in complete harmony with the natural world.
I’m going to keep on steeping this! Thanks again Teavivre!
Preparation
I was very unsure about this month’s blends from Verdant, as they all featured tulsi and a host of herbs, some of which I had never heard of! Despite my reservations, this tea is quite good! I’ve had a couple cups already but find it hard to describe – probably due to the exotic herbs. In any case, it is mellow and rich, spicy and comforting, and overall nice and satisfying. Take away from that what you will. ;) I used 2 tsp and steeped for 1 min, 2 min, etc. The tea was a nice dark cup every time.
Preparation
I came to note a sipdown on this one, and it appears I have never written a note on this! I doublechecked since I was sure I have written one before, but to no avail. I don’t think I need to say much about it, as it has a TON of notes already. So I will just say that this doesn’t taste like an Earl Grey; to me it is much more of a Jasmine Oolong, with some orange and bergamot swimming around in the background. I like it Mucho!!
