206 Tasting Notes
Tea #1 from Another TTB
Wowzah! This one scared me at first. It was slightly bitter but as it cools it is a completely different tea. I made it into. Latte after! The cookieness comes through as it sits! The almond is just right! Sign me up! This was a perfect cup after my dinner to put me to sleep. It’s odd. Lately highly caffeinated tea have put me out! Odd. Maybe caffeine has no affect on me anymore… Hmm! Anyways, this tea…. I NEED more! I MUST HAVE MORE!
Preparation
I wanted to love this tea so bad!!! “Reminiscent of spices eggnog”!!! “Thick like honey” “flaky vanilla pastry” “rice milk horchata flavor”?!!! I want!!! I love love love horchata and flaky pastry and this time of year… EGG NOG!! I only got 2 steeps out of this today. I will save for tomorrow and take it a little further in search of all those notes!! I’m on a mission! The two steeps I did get around to I did get a juicy floral green, a little astringent, tart too. Oh please tea gods bring me that richness this tea is destined for!
I do have exciting news!!!!
I used my brand new DAVIDsTEA Steeper from the oh so generous MissB. I am in love! I love his little guy! It has changed my tea life!!! Thank you thank you thank you!

This tea was a gorgeous blue almost purple hue! I loved it! So I had to take a picture!

I was hoping the after math would be that beautiful hue as well but not the case:(
Until tomorrow my tea friend! I can’t wait!
Preparation
@Bonnie: It’s a tablespoon and a half for 10 oz… How much do you use? It didn’t taste weak… Just not ripened or awakened yet… Ha ha
@Stephanie: I’ll make that my mission for tomorrow:) I’ll bring the laoshan black to work and save that one for after work:)
If you do a quick pan-fire a dancong oolong on a medium heat skillet (very quickly, moving it around a lot so not to burn it) it will awaken the flavors and result in a much better brew. Try that next time just prior to brewing it :)
It just looked like hardly any leaves in your brewer. Might be the picture angle. You should be using about 6grams for 10oz water.
These lighter roasted oolongs are hard to figure out for sure! If you have a gaiwan, I’d highly recommend that. I’ve never been able to enjoy them very well western style.
Wow interesting! Thank you! And I wish I had a gaiwan!!!! Maybe a really awesome rustic one or unique one will fine me someday :)
This was from a swap from linnaete I finally got around to. Hmmmm I don’t get tiramisu. Just a sweet rooibos. Man I wish I was a fan of rooibos. There are so many dessert teas that I would love!!! I’ll have to put this in the to leave me pile. Thanks for the sample.
I am beyonf frustrated! This is my 5th attempt at this tasting note! Where do they keep dissappearing to?! I’m about to give up! So as a result, the notes are getting shorter and shorter.
I got this tea from the lovely Stephanie.
Wow they were not kidding… this smells just like cocoa powder, and oh man! This is soooo dark. Like coffee dark!

I wish I could have done the proper amount of steeps this tea deserves, but I had to cut myself off at 4:30 as I have to be in bed by 8:30 for work at 4AM. Having said that, I did manage to get 3 great steepings.
The first steep was definitely that bittersweet 90% dark chocolate taste. Yumm!
The second steep was more of a semi sweet 50% dark chocolate. This was probably my favorite steep. The last steep was creamy! More of a milk chocolate feel. I cannot wait to give this tea the time it needs to reach its full potential. I am looking forward to it! Thank you!
Also I forgot to post this on my tasting note from last night on my sTEAp shoppe black and white tea. I stopped by tjmaxx last night and found these gems! Delicious!
Wow! I am so beyond happy that Stephanie suggested this to me in our sTEAp Shoppe order. Dry this smelled just like a swirl milkshake or swirl icecream cone dipped in chocolate from fosters freeze or the local Toro café back home in Salinas. I was sooooooo excited to drink this after dinner last night that I didn’t even want to wait for It to cool a little. But I did. Impatiently. Wow. This does not dissappoint! Can anyone say, milkshake tea!! And I didn’t even add milk! I so wanted to do a second steepinhg of this as a latte but I fell asleep! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I will have to do that tomorrow on my break from work! Yay! Ecstatic! wooo hoooo
Preparation
This sounds amazing. I have been looking at sTEAp Shoppe and this was one of the teas that I was thinking about ordering. This and Cinnamon Swirl Bread.
I am waiting to place orders until Black Friday to place orders. I will definitely put sTEAp shoppe on my list of places to order from.
I got this as a free sample in my most recent order. This is not your typical spicey chai. It is however a very relaxing calming and soothing chai. Spices you find in apple pie and pumpkin pie. I loved it! You definitely have to appreciate and love cinnamon to enjoy this one because there is PLENTY of it in here. It was a great choice to wind down my night 2 nights ago. Yumm:)
Preparation
Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box #10
I snatched this one out of the box to sample later and I am soooooo glad I did. This was such a delicate white tea I love! The dry leaf was so beautiful. The aroma as it steeped worried me a little… It smelled grassy and savory and I’m not a fan of vegetal teas. But the taste is nothing of the sort. It had this creaminess I was not expecting at all and then when I looked it up it says soy milk notes. I get it now! Ha ha. My favorite steeps were definitely the second and third. Was not a huge fan of the first steep but was definitely worth it to get to the further steepings:) I have enough left to try some other time! Yay!
Preparation
I got this in a recent swap with kimquat and decided to have a chai night last night :) I did noticed when I was measuring my dry leaf out I noticed goji berries. Oh no! Goji berries and I don’t agree. I don’t know what it is about them But the taste doesn’t agree with me. Aw man! This was spicy chai too. Ugh. I’m so sad.
I’m trying to get through all my recent orders and swaps because it is getting outrageously crazy. Anyways I sent this one out to quite a few people before I even tried it. Many have ranted and raved about this one and I was not all that awed by it. Maybe I didn’t steep it long enough…idk. I tasted some of the spiced but that’s all :( I’ll have to give this another try. I got 2 steeps out of this. The second was weak…grrr not a good tea day for me.
I’m hooked on this one too :-)
