688 Tasting Notes
My first oolong of Autumn. Yesterday, I went to a world music festival. Saw a Chinese group (from New York) play in the evening. Very pretty music, even if I can’t remember what the instruments were called. So, today, I wanted to try this tea. Mostly smells nicely like cocoa, and fruits. With some grain notes. When I first brewed, I got a vanilla scent. There is a bit of floral and honey flavour. It’s light and a bit creamy.
Flavors: Cocoa, Creamy, Floral, Fruity, Grain, Honey, Vanilla
Happy Autumn! Yesterday, I went to a Japanese Fall Festival. Most fun. However, nobody had brewed tea. Just a local Asian tea company with wares for sale. Did enjoy checking out their sample jars. The gyokuro smelled nice, and I remembered I had some.
It smells nicely like seaweed and spinach. There is a seaweed flavour as well. Reminds me a little of seaweed salad.Somewhat sweet and vegetal. And I get a hint of nuts. Would have went well with the onigiri I had yesterday afternoon.
Flavors: Nuts, Seaweed, Spinach, Vegetal
My other tea from this company. It smells of bergamot, with floral notes. The vanilla scent comes out a little. There is some floral flavour, and citrus notes. Seems like the monk was trying to a different tea at first. Still, the Assam base is nice and floral/ vanilla.
Flavors: Bergamot, Floral, Flowers, Vanilla
This is another from ‘tea before I moved’ box. It smells so nice. The creamy lime scent is still very present. There is that lovely key lime flavour. Not really an Autumn tea, but still really good for a warm afternoon. Even if I didn’t have it iced this time.
Flavors: Creamy, Lime
Once Upon A Time-
There was a girl who moved from her coastal town to a new one in the desert mountains. She packed away her tea for travel. When she got to the new land, she was unsure where her tea ended up. Some was found fairly soon, but the girl did not find it all. So, in the Winter, she visited a local shop for something to have on snowy days. While she was pleased with her new finding, the girl knew she still had other tea somewhere. Then one day, the girl found some of the tea she had stashed away. It was time to have some old favourites. Upon brewing, she noticed that the tea did not smell as fruity as it had it the past. However, it was still a creamy pineapple. The cake flavour was no longer so present.
The End
Flavors: Creamy, Pineapple
If you look through boxes, sometimes you find tea. This one smells nicely minty, with some cocoa. The flavour is mostly mint, and some creamy chocolate. Not as cookie-like as it was before. I get more of a base flavour now too.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Mint, Rooibos
I’ve been hoarding this for a while, so it was time for a cup. It smells nicely chocolate. Then I get the orange scent more in the brew. There is a chocolate flavour with some citrus notes. A bit like orange hot chocolate, actually. With some notes of malt.
Flavors: Chocolate, Citrus, Cocoa, Malt, Orange
My book cup today. Finally getting around to reading Alcott’s ‘Little Men’. The tea has a scent of spices. Mostly cinnamon and nutmeg. There is a creamy, spice flavour. Might not have brewed it warm enough, but still good. Will trying with almond milk next time.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Creamy, Nutmeg
Decided it was time to have this tea. As it is almost Autumn. The scent is a nice apple. And I get some brandy too. There is a sweet apple flavour. Makes me think of apple pastries, actually. Has a some of the Assam base in the flavour, but not much.
Flavors: Apple, Pastries
