I love my morning matcha smoothies, I feel like I’ve woken up from a wonderful sleep when I finish them. I mix 1 cup of frozen fruit, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop of protein powder, and 1 tsp of matcha. Let me tell you, the Strawberry Matcha with frozen strawberries and chocolate protein powder is to DIE for!! It’s the slightest hint of fruity flavor (delicate flavoring) with the crisp cleansing taste of a high quality matcha.
I haven’t tried this hot yet, or just shaken in cold water but the cold water matcha with the strawberry is my next plan. My original matcha was English Toffee and I liked that with just cold water, so I can’t even imagine how much I will love the Strawberry cold. It’s a great drink to carry with me to meetings during the day because it is refreshing yet energizing and I know that I am doing my body a healthy service by sipping it.
I would highly recommend this to new matcha drinkers because it is a familiar flavor and easy to mix many different ways. Especially if you love a morning smoothie…this is seriously an epic and awesome addition to a fruit smoothie, I imagine it’s even better with some pineapple and banana…yum!
The mocha matcha is the first flavored matcha from Red Leaf that I truly get a hint of the flavor in my sip. I have only ordered the delicate flavoring because I wanted to get used to the taste of matcha and make sure I like the actual tea and not just the flavor. So this one I made as a hot cup this morning and was kind of surprised it tasted to strongly!
I’ve always thought of mocha as more of a chocolate than a coffee flavor but this matcha is an awesome balance of the two. It’s smooth and rich and it has a naturally robust flavor without any artificial sweetness, and with an extra and actually pleasant bitterness. I say pleasant because to me mocha is bitter and this is true flavor.
I’ll definitely finish my bag of it, but I don’t think this is a flavor I will reorder. I really loved the English Toffee flavor and recently tried and enjoyed the Caramel too. I think I prefer more of a desserty flavor or a fruit flavor matcha, especially if I’m putting it in a smoothie.

Uhhh YUM!! So this is an awesome bridge between dessert tea and a floral black tea. I’ll write more later.
I want to apologize to those of you waiting on a swap from me, i’ve been preoccupied with my sick kitten who had to go to the ER today. He was vomiting blood and he has an intestinal infection. I will ship out on Monday, again, I am so sorry, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Aw poor kitty, hope he feels better soon! I’d rather be sick myself than watch any of my pets suffer!
You know what? I don’t love this tea. But that’s ok because I absolutely ADORE a bunch of Della Terra’s other teas. I just had to try this one. I brought it to work with me today to throw into a swap and decided to make a cup and I’m deciding I’d rather just swap it.
2nd cup of the morning, My Morning Mate was first but I drink it every morning so I’m not going to log it.
I drank this when I got back to my office after running a couple kitties to the vet for the Humane Society. It was a mama kitty and her baby!! Trina was the mama 1.5 years old and Trixie was her baby, 9 months old. They were fluffy little black kitties with white chest, paws, and nose. I wanted to keep them and snuggle them all day. At least I get to see them again this afternoon when I pick them up from the doctor!
It’s technically a holiday but since I’m not salaried I had the option to come in today and not use my time off. SO here I am!! Drinking tea, singing, and just doing online job searches (I work as an employment counselor, so this counts as direct service :p).
This was my 3rd cup today, as always, LOVE it. You can read the other tasting notes for it, I just wanted to log that I drank it.
Sunday sample Sipdown #3
Ok backlogging this. I’ve had this sample for a while and just tried it for the first time yesterday. I didn’t really get much of a chocolate flavor, then again white chocolate doesn’t taste very chocolaty. I guess I would say it was a bit creamy and slightly slightly sweet with a nice strong black base. I wouldn’t stock it as one of my main dessert teas but for people who like a little flavor but not a BAM dessert tea like Della Terra type teas, this would probably be really nice.
I didn’t love it enough to purchase it, but I will definitely finish the sample.
Sunday sample Sipdown #2
This was actually more delicious than I expected!! I had tried the sample once before and I remember it being fairly astringent and bitter. This time around I realized that it was just because the quality of the black tea base was pretty great. It is definitely strawberry, from the second you smell it to the linger of the sip. Not overpoweringly fruity but a really nice touch of sweetness.
Sunday Sample Sipdown! Thanks to Rachel for this one! I’m just going to log the teas I drink today and review them tomorrow at work since I only have the internet on my phone at home.
My first Lapsang Souchong ever! I actually really liked the fire smokeyness in this tea. I couldn’t quite taste the pumpkin spice or caramel, but I think it’s because I was paying closer attention to the smokey flavor in the tea. Like a chickory almost. I’ll have to try it again soon and see if I can get any of those flavors in a note.
