160 Tasting Notes
I brewed up a pot of this last night while I watched the Grinch with my kitten on the couch by the lit tree :) It was a great accompaniment to the movie and reminded me of being a little kid because my dad used to make me peppermint tea. The little candy canes in the tea are adorable, I’m such a sucker for the teas that Della Terra puts sprinkles in (LOOOVE Winter Nog).
It’s like a typical herbal mint tea, obviously it has the caffeine of a black tea, but it isn’t bitter and I doubt the average person would taste a difference (I know that none of the Steepsterites are average people… we’re all crazy tea snobs).
The little candy canes redeem what is otherwise a basic black mint tea. Luckily I have a soft spot for mint tea.
I don’t taste any maple…just a really really slight hint of some sort of nutty flavor. It’s good if you just think of it as a plain black tea, but I wouldn’t run out and pick this up if you love dessert teas and fun flavors. Honestly, you pay $3 for 2oz of tea, so you get what you pay for. It’s a little almondy, which is pleasant.
Holy delicious. For someone who isn’t really into fruity teas, this one took me by surprise! It reminds me of having a bowl of very freshly picked blueberries and a scoop of vanilla yogurt on the side.
The dry leaves smell like blueberry vanilla FROSTING but once brewed, it smells more fruity and the vanilla isn’t as intensely sweet as it smells. I taste more fruitiness than vanilla, so fruit tea lovers will still like this, but the vanilla makes it creamy and decadent so dessert tea lovers will enjoy it too! I left my tea ball with the steeped leaves in it in a cup on my desk and I came back in after an appointment and my office smelled like an incredible summery dessert.
I love the chocolaty, creamy, caramel type dessert teas, but this one will be added to my favorites. I also forget that it’s a rooibus, since there is NO medicinal taste to it at all. Winner.
Why is this rating not higher?? It legit tastes just like those chocolate covered oranges that you smack while they’re in the foil and they break into slices. I feel like I don’t drink enough dessert teas with fruit in them, just the caramel chocolate marshmallow cake kind of things. This is delectable, the orange flavor is really apparent, it’s the first thing I notice.
I can’t quite smell the orange in the brewed cup of tea, but it smells VERY milk chocolaty. The chocolate flavor is a little more subtle, you get a malty feel with a fruity flavor. I like this balance, I’m going to enjoy this tea a lot!
I’m such a loose tea snob but while rushing around from appointment to appointment this week I’ve turned to my tried and true Mate Chocolatte. It tastes a bit like a gingerbread to me, slightly like chocolate, but more like a rich spice.
This kind of keeps my energy up, I have 3 appointments to go, so technically about halfway done with the day but only about 2.5 hours, so I’m relying on this tea to get me home and cozied up with my kitten and my STASH of new teas.
I had such a fun time waking up with this today! I have steered away from Teavana’s My Morning Mate for some black teas since I have so many to try and this was SUCH a treat! It’s fruitier than I expected, which I love, sometimes with chocolate/fruit teas the fruit is almost non existent, the flavors feel drying, or the fruit tastes artificial. This tasted so spot on like a chocolate strawberry and I even underbrewed it. I’m in love with this tea and it is true to it’s name, no guessing flavors here, you’ll know as soon as you sip that you are drinking (a basically calorie free!) chocolate covered strawberry.
This is fabulous, my first love of tea was peppermint so I was excited to try this out. It’s not a typical peppermint, it is definitely candy like, a vanilly sweetness almost. I will be enjoying plenty of this while the snow falls here in the mountains tomorrow. This is a perfect holiday blend, all of Della Terra’s teas lack the bitterness that can steer me away from black tea, they are all smooth and easy and highly enjoyable to drink!
Mmmmmm! This is so spot on in flavor and smell I just can’t contain my love. I was hestitant about a pumpkin tea but then again, if you think about a gourd in a pie it’s a strange concept too…but a delicious one! This tea is smooth, with the perfect spice, and was an amazing addition to my night of watching DVR’s episodes of Fringe.
