516 Tasting Notes
I like it!
Thank you Mad Alyce (may I call you Mad Alyce? I thought it was fitting for our tea party :D )
thankyouthankyou! I just recieved swap package #2 and was too intrigued with this tea. It totally tastes like potato. I get an aftertaste of sweet potato fries :D
I added some thick cream and a little sugar to sweeten it up, and the marshmallow came out. Delightful.
It’s quite brisk for a ceylon (?) – I probably shouldn’t have drank it this late at night. Eep. Oh well, only 2 more days of work left and then I’m FREEEEEeeeee
THANK YOU Joe Cook!!
This is my all time FAVORITE RoT team, and my very first loose leaf from the company! This one was an amazing choice, right up my alley, and I am loving it.
The ginger is much spicier in the loose leaf and the peach is lip smacking good. I only have enough for one more cup, and I’ll be saving it for a very special occasion. ee! Thanks!
Alright folks, I’m back! For a small amount of time. But enough time to enjoy my swap package from Joe Cook!! Thank you so much Joe for all the generous samples!
I chose Golden Monkey to try first because it’s 1:33 pm and this tea is speaking to me yo.
Piping hot, it’s very malty and has a “sundried” taste to it, that’s how I would describe it! A little bit of honey goodness, plus bold, full flavour. As it cools down, I get this kind of tomato-y taste that I’m not really digging, but it passes right away and slips into malty goodness.
So I’m not quite sure what the “tomato” part is – I had the same experience with Utopia Tea’s Cocoa Mate, so maybe it’s a cocoa sort of flavour that my tastebuds are misinterpreting!
Either way, this is a great morning/mid afternoon/any time tea when I need a kick in the butt with some sweet flavour notes too! Thank you Joe!
(Man it was hard to write this review; my boyfriend’s band is in the adjacent room rehearsing for their very last show tonight ; 3; )
I haven’t heard from you in awhile. I’m glad your back!
I hope you future days get a little quieter!
Thanks!
haha the quiet will come soon.. soon! My last day of work is the 29th so that should help. Man, they will be the longest 3 days ever. o_o
Getting sick of being sick.
And sick of this tea.
BECAUSE : I’m drinking 10 cups a day.
But it’s worth it.
Hmm, maybe someone should work on turning this stuff into a cold syrup. Steeped extra strong, then boiled down with some agave – a teaspoon of “bye bye cold”!
Okay I swears on the precious that I rated this one already…
The first cup I had of it – pure awesome. Vanilla, orange, the currant mmm it was just like the picture on the website – unicorns and rainbows!
BUTTHEN – I had a second cup. Bwaaa all I can taste is bubblegum. Sad face. It’s still a tasty tea, but I won’t be stocking up.
I don’t think I have this rated/logged on here yet, but I definitely get the bubblegum flavour (and smell) too. Although I’ve yet to compare Elf Help/Orange Blossom/Midsummer Night’s Dream, I’m pretty sure the latter comes out the above and beyond winner, and I really don’t need more than one citrusy tea in my inventory (especially since I have ridiculous amounts of Tazo ‘Wild Sweet Orange’ teabags left to drink, which I now find difficult to stomach).
Though I am sad it tasted like bubblegum, I am glad I’m not the only who thinks it tastes like bubblegum!
Bubblegum for suresies.
And man, if the package had a unicorn on it, I’d know exactly who to send it to! Just waiting for that zombie tea for my collection :)
Did a very short steep after reading the reviews – I didn’t taste the bad stuff yay!
It certianly wasn’t my favorite though. Almost a c… cardboardy quality to it, but it was still enjoyable and I didn’t have to dump it!
Actually, I know this will only be helpful to a select few, but if you are one of the people who LOVE DavidsTea’s Carrot Cake, this tea is for you! Blending them would be a neat experiment… but I’m getting almost an identical flavour profile for the base.
Very very interesting. Anyways, it’s up in my swap now! So if you’re interested, check out the swap thread!
Wow I didn’t even know there was hibiscus in this!
Honestly, it tastes like I’m drinking a cup of hot lemon and honey :D Well, I added the honey. But this is a kick butt cup of herbal bagged tea, especially to soothe a sore throat. Courtesy of my mother-in-law’s tea stash. Yum!
I’m using these cool things called Honey Beads. They dissolve instantly in hot water, they’re pretty much dry honey! Brilliant. I got them for Christmas from some Toronto friends and they are awesome.
I digress! I’m having a swap!
Check out my post in the Swap thread, and if you can get a package out by Monday the 13th, let’s do this babeh.

And with this chilly day, I bid Toasty Almond adieu.
Ah! Too hot. so hopefully I didn’t burn all my tastebuds away, but man it’s cold in the boyfriend’s parents basement!
Not a lot of time, as usual, but just wanted to pop by again!
I’m not too sad to see this tea go, however it does fill a certain niche in my tea cupboard that isn’t filled by anything else. A sweet, nutty, donut-like tisane full of win. Any suggestions?
It’s so hard to search for this tea.
ANYWAYS I miss you guys. I’m sick.
We moved out of our old apartment and into my boyfriend’s parents basement (classy I know) right when they were bedridden with sickness.
So now I’m drinking a huge glass of this, hoping for the best, and dreaming sweet Halifax dreams.
Yeah, come to Halifax, we have transit! Oh, wait. They’re striking. At least it’s small enough to walk lots of places! : )
I got my Teavana order in the mail. All of them smell kind of.. not delicious, but whatever, for 1-3 bucks it was worth the try! Maybe they will taste awesome.. but first, the sample!
First of all, it smells delicious! I brewed up 2 teaspoons in a medium sized mug, took the rock sugar out of the strainer and put it in the bottom of my cup – I wanted to get the full sweetness, I was in the mood! Steeped for a short 2 minutes.
It was actually quite tasty! Nothing particularly unique or spectacular, but orangey and sweet. I think this would make an amazing iced tea, but I would never fork out the cash to actually purchase it, so we’ll see how far my sample takes me.
I’m with the masses, not the biggest Teavana fan, but thank you for this sample! It might be the tastiest part of my order!
got the same sample in my teavana order, but haven’t tried it yet… does smell really good, and I think you’re right, it will probably make a great iced tea!
Intriguing! Good luck finishing the longest two work days of your life :D (Well, maybe those are the two prior to retirement. But I’m sure they’re up there somewhere!)
Interesting!
Thank you! Only one more day left!!!
And yes, I recommend this tea, it’s quite unique! I’m coldbrewing a bottle of it, I wonder how it will turn out haha o_o
How was the coldbrewed tea??
I was just coming on to report!! haha it was really nice actually! To be honest, it mostly just tasted like a really nice quality black tea with no bitterness, with a slight “starchy” aftertaste. But starchy in a nice way! haha so unique. It tasted a lot less like sweet potato fries, I think because I didn’t add any sweetener this time around.
But hey, not too shabby at all :D
