516 Tasting Notes
Very very flavourful!
A perfect iced tea flavour. Berries and berries!
Got it for my $1 tea today. The berry taste is juicy and tart, which I will admit is not my favorite taste, but for people into fruit teas – this one is excellent.
As a personal note, it’s too sour for me, I should have added a bit of sweetener maybe? I’ve had a bad history with herbal fruit teas, though, which have all been sour and bleh since I can remember, so I’m reminded of those unfortunately. Pretty sure that’s just by psychological taste buds though, don’t let that stop you from trying it!
Edit: I don’t know why, but I really want to use this as a base for a bbq sauce for chicken. There. I said it.
Preparation
One more note!
So I cold brewed it overnight, and this is more of a hot tea for me I think :)
The black tea taste really came out with the cold brew, and it still has the tang of rum taste and coconut, but it’s not as rich as a hot brew.
Refreshing, but I’m really wishing I could put a splash of rum in there to add a little more flavour. (Totally possible that i didn’t use enough tea!)
Preparation
OK so I have to post another note because today I FINALLY tasted the Rum!
Yep, I didn’t taste it in my last 2 cups but today I do. I dunno. I’m weird. I tasted buttery coconut goodness before, but today I got the rum and I am over the roof with happiness and tastiness.
Also, I’ve had my DT iced tea mug cold brewing an iced version of this tea all night, I’ll edit this note with how that tastes soon!
Edit: Just a quick note that this tea resteeps a second time quite well. I left it in for about 8 minutes instead of 6, and I may have added too much cream to both cups because I go a little crazy with cream. Gotta try milk if I want to lose weight I guess, lest I drink 4 cups of this a day o_o
Dare I say better cold than hot?
No, that’s just the Saskatchewan summer talking haha.
It is delicious as an iced tea though! The mint is light and extremely refreshing, and the chocolate flavour comes out wonderfully with every sip. Mm.
I saw it on the sign and didn’t even look at the second option. Nice and sweet with no sweetener added, it’s a perfect distraction from my week-long apartment move across the city. Amen to that.
Preparation
Yuck.
I really did not like this tea.
Maybe it was just the batch I got, or maybe it’s just my tastebuds, but it was way more fishy than cinnamon.
Dry it smelled exactly like a cinnamon heart! True to the name I guess haha. I was super excited, but brewed hot, the pu’erh was too fishy for me. Usually I like pu’erh and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest, so I’m wondering if it was my batch? The smell was fish, the taste was sort of cinnamon, more earthy. Tried not to smell when I drank it but it didn’t help.
Either way, it was a chore to finish the cup and I didn’t resteep. I couldn’t.
Once it cooled down, it was more cinnamon (I added a little sugar too), but this tea was just not tasting right for me.
Luckily, it was just a 1 teaspoon I got from my mother in law. She was hoping I would take the whole bag off her hands after trying it but I had better not haha n_n;
Yum.
$1 today!
First of all, I love that this tea has an energy boost. I can hardly taste the mate aftertaste (the only reason I can taste it is because I know it’s in there I think!)
I am baffled as to how it tastes like honey. I was going to sweeten this one actually but I totally forgot, and it didn’t need it! (Man am I on repeat? haha)
The lemon is very nice too. Not overpowering, just there, like a squeeze of lemon with no harshness or acidity.
It DOES smell like Lush’s Honey soap, which might make this a tea I stock up on. It’s delicious iced. Very unique flavour in my opinion.
Preparation
I am not a huge fan of this tea. To me it tastes fuzzy, like I am drinking a bee. Is it better iced than hot?
You know, I don’t think I could drink this one hot to be honest. I think it would be too much! I love it iced (not brewed too long), but it doesn’t seem like a nice hot tea. I also think I would be reminded of neocitran or something haha. yuck.
So, unhelpful as I am, I’m really not too sure! It might just be a certain taste for certain people, this one def has a strong taste of.. something. haha
This tea is the tastiest most awesome thing ever.
The smell is awesome like caramel popcorn or caramel apples. The apple taste isn’t too strong, and the maple taste is just right!
It steeped for a while, maybe too long? I don’t know but it was delicious either way. EDIT: Whatever you do, do NOT understeep this tea. You will be cheating yourself of the real flavour.
I LOVE a tea you don’t have to put sweetener in but still tastes a bit sweet, and this tea is perfect for that. It tastes just like it smells!
Preparation
Hum… I do need this one! I’ve tasted it as a sample and I must say you’re right abut the review! This tea is simply delicious straight.
I really shouldn’t be writing this note at work, but I’ll be doing overtime today anyways so here goes.
I really like this tea! I got it iced in my $1 mug today. The sample with no sweetener was really nice and smooth, but I got a little agave in it on a whim. I usually don’t sweeten my iced teas but with a name like Dolce & Banana, it was just asking for it haha.
I have to say, I hate bananas. But carmelized bananas I can go for – which is exactly what this has hints of. They must have steeped it just right because I’m not overwhelmed with chamomile – it’s just a great compliment!
Not something I would steep myself or drink hot, but super refreshing and lovely as an iced tea! I reccomend a little sweetener to help bring out the carmel/banana b^_^
EDIT: Plus, “Dulce & Banana”, how clever is that name?! haha I’m such a sucker for things with awesome names
Preparation
I’ve had this twice iced in my $1 iced tea mug!
I am in love with it. I’m an iced coffee lover, but I have acid reflux, so strong coffee with cream and sugar does not do well for the heartburn situation, no matter how delicious it tastes.
This tea is like a gift from the DavidsTea heavens haha. It’s so smooth I’ve drank it with no cream or sweetener (which I could never do with an iced coffee) and it’s SUPER refreshing with that little kick of wake-me-up.
I totally get the hints of almond and caramel in the aftertaste. Everything about this tea is pleasant and I can’t wait to stock my shelf and start making refreshing iced “coffees” in the mornings b^_^
Preparation
Ok I have 3 minutes on my break to add a quick note about my Swampwater!
First of all, I have had this tea for exactly one year. Untouched (kind of). My first and last david’s tea purchase until a few months ago in fact! I asked for a tea that would be refreshing as an iced tea and not need any sweetener! So I smelled Swampwater and was in love!
I went home and knew nothing about how to make real iced tea. I had a tiny tea-ball thing (about a tablespoon) that wouldn’t be enough for a big batch. So I just dumped some loose tea in thinking I would strain it when it was done. Strain with what? I had nothing. So it was a gross mess full of rooibos that tasted weird because I kept having to pick little things out of my teeth.
One year later! I cold brewed it first overnight in my DT mug at work. It was awesome because it didn’t leave the orange ring when cold brewed (which is part of the fun when it’s hot!) but tasted very refreshing. I tried it hot the same day and it was fresh and delicious.
So I have to say I am impressed with the freshness after one year, but possibly sadenned because it’s no longer on the market? if you find some of this somewhere sometime – try it! It’s fun :D
points to my rant about hibiscus on the comment I just posted on Strawberry White That sourness and tartness you’re tasting is probably the hibiscus. That’s my big complaint with herbals. If they have hibiscus, they get really tart, really fast. My suggestion is to try some of this at home with a shorter steep time…that’s how I fell in love with this tea. It’s also amazing in pancakes!
Thank you! I’m still tea-learning so that is very helpful. Bear Trap just got worse and worse as I got to the bottom of the cup D: (I know David’s steeps for a long time though, so I will def give this a try at home another time!) It’s very good to know that I now have something to watch out for in other teas though. Thanks again!
Any time! It was such a revelation to me when I figured out it was the hibiscus. Blegh hibiscus ;). Yeah, the in-store teas are never steeped the way I like them, but they can’t please everyone XD. I’m just super picky.
