391 Tasting Notes
It’s nice purchasing small packs of things so I can try a little of this or that and not waste too much money. I bought the sampler from Teasipper and have been waiting for cooler weather to dive in. And I’ve been lazy :). This is kinda nice but I couldn’t tell without reading the description what it was supposed to be tasting like… I like it but I don’t love it… Tastes good with cookies :D
Wow, I haven’t done a tasting note in a while. I decided to try this SBT Cotton Candy to break in my new Takeya pitcher. Never had these, but they are really convenient and easy to make. It smelled really good both dry and brewed. Somehow though when I tasted it I thought of marshmallows rather than cotton candy. I like it!
This was a tasty cup this morning. It’s strong and does seem like it would go with some chai spices and even milk. I don’t know if I steeped too long but it’s just shy of being astringent. It’s a little sweet somehow and a bit peppery at times. Thank you Single Origin Teas for the generous sized sample, I wouldn’t have found you otherwise :)
Thanks Yezi Tea for the samples! Out of the 3 samples of black tea that I requested, this is the winner for me. It’s got a slightly smoky taste but has got a sweet, yummy taste that I can’t quite place. I could drink more of this one so whenever I get to place an order, I must remember to get this one. Funny because I almost didn’t get this one because I thought I should try one of their puerh teas since otherwise you’d have to buy a whole lot of it but thought nah, the description for this lured me in more.
Steepster ate my note… Aw. Anyway, I had this sample yesterday and man I can taste the smoke. The smoky taste lingers and makes me think about those long gone days where I smoked hours during finals and hung around friends who smoked a lot too (no smoking for me now). Those are dangerous, tempting thoughts… so I don’t think I should drink this often lol. Other than that I don’t get much else and I’d really liked the description of chestnuts and cinnamon – it’s not a bad tasting tea or bitter but it’s not one for me.
Haha! Found the little box of samples I got from Yezi Tea. I’d put it on the dresser to try but then some papers fell on it and I couldn’t find it yesterday. Today might be an even better day to drink tea though as it’s been raining and a little cold… finally Winter weather is coming. It’s a nice deal when a company will let you try their tea in sample size and for only the price of shipping for sure.
This tea smells yummy, like baked goods. It’s a smooth tea that tastes pretty good. It has some faint chocolate taste, more like dark chocolate than milk and the smokey taste is more detectable as an aftertaste. The chocolate taste comes out more as the tea cooled. Even though the smoky taste isn’t really strong or offensive, I think generally this tea is not one I’d buy more of but the taste is kind of intriguing like maybe I would get a little more…ok, so I’m just indecisive. Thanks to Yezi Tea!
It’s good that this was my free sample with this month’s newsletter because I would be so sad if I’d bought a whole package of it. I thought it’d have a nice crisp citrus taste because it’d be like the grapefruit green. Nope. It’s a hard taste for me to describe but I know I definitely don’t like it. Slightly overripe fruit? Something’s not sitting right with me. Disappointed… I feel like I should brew something I do like to get rid of the taste left in my mouth…
I bought the 3 tin pack of this, Mount gray and Double Knit, and at first I was worried it seems like a lot of tea… But I’ve slowly been going through it and am actually almost out of this one. I’ve found it to be a good tea to brew in the morning and carry along iced for throughout the day. It’s pretty strong but has nice flavor and is a nice pick me up in the afternoon. I have been having it everyday and I think it’s really grown on me.
This tea has a strong floral, green taste. It holds up well for multiple steeps of it. I definitely prefer shorter steeps since I went a little long at first and the floral taste was too strong. It does have a dry mouth effect after a while. I got hungry and ate some Milano melts cookies with it. The cookies are so sweet that together with the tea, it all tasted really decadent and just right to start my lazy morning. No more school for a week, oh the relief… I’m going to try really hard not to think of my students and just relax. Oh! Also with the sample came a cute bookmark that had steeping and tea info so that was helpful.
Thank you for the free sample Little Red Cup Tea Company!
