From DAVIDsTEA

It’s all about the leaf

Looking for a taste of Canada? Try this red rooibos tea. It’s sweetened with (what else?) maple syrup and sprinkled with delicious maple leaf candies. Plus it’s 100% diplomatic (well, caffeine-free) and tastes great in both our official languages. With green rooibos, honeybush, caramel and toffee bits to shake things up. A truly authentic Canadian experience.

Ingredients: South African green and red rooibos, honeybush, caramel bits, toffee bits, candy leaves, artificial and natural flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy, dairy and tree nuts

From OST’s stash sale.

I’ve been smelling this tea every time I opened this box, and decided to finally give it a try. I like maple syrup, but it’s not a flavor I tend to crave, and I’ve been a bit wary of Maple teas in the past since dessert teas are sometimes too sweet for me. I decided I was in the mood to try this today though. The first sip of this was disappointing because I could taste some good quality rooibos, but no maple. This tea is fairly lightly flavored, but that’s a good thing since the flavor builds on your tongue as you sip, and gets stronger as the tea cools. This is probably the perfect amount of flavoring since it wasn’t cloyingly sweet by the end of the cup. I grew up in Michigan, and now live in Maryland – both maple syrup states – so I’m very familiar with the taste of maple. This is a very realistic tasting maple flavor, and it is really a good complement to the rooibos. I like this one a lot more than I expected to. It’s probably one I wouldn’t drink often, but it would be nice to keep in my cupboard when I’m craving something sweet.

I stopped in to get a cup of Valarian night, but found out it is no longer in stock. I picked up a cup of very hot Oh Canada instead.

I’ve had this one several times before and enjoyed it each time. Maple and rooibos go very well together.

This tea smells like maple syrup and you can also taste it in the tea. You can smell it steeping across the room yum. I really like it but my boyfriend LOVES it. This earned a spot in my permanent collection. Now, Davidstea needs to keep this tea for a long time and not even think about retiring it.
*Update: I tried this as an iced tea latte and it is AMAZING with added agave sweetener. Now I love this tea too lol

I really enjoy this tea :) it smells and tastes of Maple Syrup. Try it as an iced latte with blueberry jam and you have a blueberry pancake iced latte! Delicious!

Like most people, I was attracted to this for the name and the cute little maple leaf sprinkles added in. Since I generally enjoy maple flavors, I thought I’d like that too. And I wasnt disappointed. This has been a semi-regular purchase for me for a couple years now, and definitely my favorite sweet rooibos tea. The maple flavor is perfectly potent, its always very obvious which tea I brewed after this one, since the maple scent permeates into the air in the kitchen – and has just the right amount of flavor in the tea itself. To me its almost like a maple/vanilla/rooibos mix, which makes a very nice latte! Its a fun, patriotic tea and I hope they continue selling it, I think its just great.

Wow, am I ever behind on my ratings! I tried this as an iced tea this summer, and totally forgot to rate it.

Bought as an iced tea at the mall, before going to a concert with a friend. I seem to remember just a hint of maple, but definitely didn’t require any extra sugar. Will have to order it again to really give it a proper review

Edit: I got this as a hot tea in my Mint Curve Travel Mug in summer 2016…the mug still smells like Maple and it’s summer 2017…

The artificial flavors are a bit too much for me in this tea. I was gifted it by a Canadian relative and I want to like it… the maple scent is tempting! But I end up dumping a lot out each time because it just tastes ‘off’ or ‘fake.’

Disgusting. Gross toffee taste with a nasty aftertaste. I will chuck this in the trash soon if I don’t give it away to someone else…
