1024 Tasting Notes
Finished my sample of this and while it’s still not something I would navigate to in general (it’s just sugar water…), I did a comparison cup of this vs T2’s Turkish Apple and this is so much nicer. It’s got a great tang to it that really brings on the real apple taste. I used up the very last of it in an iced tea that’s still brewing.
I tried a sample of this in store, being part of the current promotion (caramel teas?). I didn’t get much from the store prep of just this… probably because I’m not crazy about green teas. Still, there was a takeaway leaf sample so I grabbed that to see if I could play around with it at all once I got home. I brought it in to work today instead and made it into a soy latte. Big reminder of the flavoured Red Leaf matcha samples I got to try! So if that stuff floats your boat, turn this blend into a latte and you’ll be pleased as punch.
How did I not realise this would essentially be a dupe for DT’s Coco-Lemon Thai, the tea that confused the crap out of me the entire way through my share of it!?
I was lulled into buying this a few months ago during—if I recall correctly—a green tea promo month at T2; this was one of three on offer and my favourite. I tried it in store iced with Turkish Apple tisane and it was absolutely delicious. So now I have to remember to drink it that way because hot it’s giving me PTSD flashbacks to that DT blend (that wasn’t awful, just forever confusing to my tastebuds).
“Would you recommend this tea?” I DON’T KNOW!???!!?
Ok, I’m back on the guayusa wagon. I get so temperamental about how I feel about guayusa. It’s like I can only get back on the wagon for a week or so, then stay away for six months. I was trying to remember the previous guayusas I’ve tried and enjoyed—Blackberry Lime I got over very quickly, Good Morning Sunshine was nice but by the end I was just trying to get through it. I still have Cider Guayusa in the cupboard as well…
I’ll boldly state that the Killer’s Vanilla is my favourite yet, keeping in mind I may get sick of it soon enough? I feel like it’s done a good job in perking me up this week when I’ve been pretty exhausted (working too hard!) but I also like that the mint and vanilla add something else to the blend that works nicely together.
However this has all turned VERY DARK as I’ve only just now found out that Butiki CLOSED and a piece of my heart just broke forever. It’s my own fault for not paying close enough attention to this site, I suppose, and for not drinking lots of tea for a while last year! GOODBYE FOREVER HELLO SWEETIE :((((((((((( so many Butiki blends I never got to try. I’ll just have to be thankful that I put in that one big order. Thank you Stacy for all your wonderful work! You deserved every bit of praise that you got. <3
Preparation
Rats, somehow I didn’t have this in my steepster cupboard despite having it in my regular cupboard thanks to Sil (though on seeing her review for this blend maybe she should be thanking me, lololol).
I don’t know why I decided to make a cup of this one up tonight, maybe I figured it’d go best with the big fat doughnut I had for dessert.
Not as good hot as cold, but I’ll leave my high score until I try another cold brew.
So glad this is another blend that’s upgraded from theme of the month to orange box! I noticed Lamington has done that too. All the best ones! Good work, T2. But also darn you.
I bought another box of this to top up my dwindling supply and also to get me over the free shipping threshold in T2’s recent sale. I couldn’t resist those cute morning and night cups with the eyes on them!
