1024 Tasting Notes
And I’ve moved back onto some Rose for an evening brew, now that I’m done with Cool Bananas.
I’m not the first to say it, but Rose, as a name, really doesn’t suit this blend. There’s so much more going on. Some might say too much more, but I’m an apologist for this tea. Great for sweettooths.
I hadn’t opened this tin for a while, so yesterday morning I was pleasantly surprised to open it and find that I’m a lot closer to another sipdown here than I thought! Hot damn, I may actually get these unopened boxes opened before the year’s out, after all…
I say yesterday morning because I cold brewed this in the fridge overnight and drank it today. So tasty! I really love this, still! I’ve refilled the tea bottle for another overnight cold brew but I may be wasting my time, I forgot that black tea’s more of a one hit wonder than green. Or maybe cold brews are different; it’s been a while since I went cold crazy. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow…
And in the meantime I’m gonna start another cold brew to inch closer to sipdown.
Today’s been the perfect bed day. I’ve basically gotten out of bed three times—once to get tea (this one) and toast (Vegemite & avocado) for breakfast, then to go pick up fish and chips for dinner, and just now to make another cup of tea (this one again) and a block of chocolate (pretzel & peanut dairy milk).
I’ve watched the second half of Vikings S3 (after watching the first half last night) and now I’m watching Louie S5. I may be living my best life. And/or I’m panicking about being flat out for the next two weeks with the festival! Eek! Whee! Getting hoodies and accredition at the info session tomorrow and I am STOKED.
AND also seriously enjoying this tea again today. Milky, sugary, turn it into banana candy. <3
Well bloody hell I’m an idiot. I feel like I wasted half of this sample by brewing it like a fucking masala chai, because the idea of a stove was all I remembered from the Monstrositea notes about this one. The actual notes—and the truth for a Turkish black—has nothing whatsoever to do with milk but IS all about a stove, so I used my last measly two teaspoons to brew as recommended for 10-15mins over a rolling simmer.
Now, I did this with far too much water for tea, so I barely need to dilute with more water at the end. Still, it’s worth noting that even with a 10-15min brew, this is a smooth tea—no really evident bitterness or astringency.
It was definitely fun to try this at home, yet another reason I’ve enjoyed the Monstrositea boxes.
I can’t believe my cupboard’s down to less than fifty teas. I can’t remember the last time it was this low.
I’ve been drinking this blend around bedtime a fair bit of late, which may be a little silly as I’m sure it’s riddled with sugar, and yet I have to increase my score a little because it’s not as awful as I first came away thinking. I mean, it IS, but once you expect that sugary sweetness it’s not as bad? If that makes any sense at all?
I spent the whole day watching the entire first season of Sense8 on Netflix, what a joyous gift to finally have it in Australia! Great show too, one I’m already looking forward to rewatching.
