Backlogging for the conference I attended last week. They had a sampler box of most of the Tazo teas, and I tried a few of them. This one wasn’t so bad for a bagged tea. It was definitely better than the awful stuff my hotel had at the breakfast bar. Still, it tasted pretty much like bagged tea. Nothing spectacular.
Backlogging this one from when I was at a conference last week. They had a box of most of the Tazo teas, so I tried a few of them. This one was okay, but not fantastic. It probably would have been better if I hadn’t left the tea bag in for forever. Fruity isn’t really my thing anyway, though.
Preparation
This was one of my first forays into White Tea and it totally sold me on the idea. The blueberry style in here was very subtle and nice, and paired with white tea is a great, delicate combination. Tastes fantastic. I was sorry to hear that Starbucks pulled this eventually, I guess maybe it wasn’t selling that well? I thought it was fantastic and also made for great gifts.
I have certainly had some flavored teas with more present fruit flavoring that fit together a bit better, but this was definitely good.
This is my must-by tea. It usually retails for about $3.99, which is about the price of a single grande iced chai at Starbucks, so I’m saving a lot by making them myself. Plus, since I like a stronger chai taste, I can make them to suit me.
It has a beautiful spicy, almost peppery aftertaste that I love, and it’s not overwhelmingly sweet. To me, this is how (iced) chai should taste.
Preparation
This was surprisingly not bad. I liked the mix of flavors, though I do wish I had been told that it was more than just a basic vanilla rooibos, but it warmed me up on this chilly night.
The conversation leaving up to the conversation, however, had me cringing every time I took a sip. Mind you, tonight was my first time inside a Starbucks.
Me: What kind of teas do you have?
Barista: Oh, we have lots! For herbals we have….pause to think of list
Me: Oh, I don’t want an herbal (hibiscus feaaaar)
Barista: Oh. For greens we have…
Wife: She doesn’t like greens, either.
Barista:….okay, for blacks we have Awake, Earl Grey, and Vanilla Rooibos.
Me:…
Wife:…
Me:…I’ll have the Vanilla Rooibos.
Anyway, I would definitely drink this one again.
Preparation
I know, my wife and I didn’t quite know what to say to that one. And, to be honest, it tasted more like an apple cinnamon rooibos. I was far from impressed with the overall experience, despite the tea actually being pretty good.
For a store bought bagged tea this isn’t too bad. The flavor, well… imagine eating a lemon head, those little yellow candies. It’s almost like that only more orange-y. It makes your mouth pucker a little. If you’re into sour foods/drinks you’ll probably like it, if you were expecting something sweet there are plenty of other teas out there. I never tried adding sugar or honey, but that might help balance out the flavor a bit.

First I must say since they switched to the mesh whole leaf bags this tea has improved a lot. I enjoy the vegetal, even a little bit woody taste. I like the slightly bitter after taste. If you are getting this at Starbucks, be mindful of the steep time or this tea can get NASTY. I usually order it in a grande because the size of the teabag in a tall tends to make the tea taste oversteeped.
Normally I like to drink my tea straight… no milk no honey just tea. I took a sip of this chai and immediately knew it was going to be just a bit to much. I added a little soy milk and instantly fell in love. I may have found my new favorite tea. It has the perfect amount of black pepper and cinnamon. Gives you just the right about of kick. YUM!
I’m revisiting this tea for the first time since I had it in college. I didn’t much like it then, and I like it even less now. It smells as fruity and yummy as I remember, but it is far more sour. It goes beyond the usual tartness of hibiscus. For some reason, Tazo saw fit to add citric acid to the ingredient list. WHY??? The sour is now at a harsh chemical level. I can’t even taste anything else except for how sour it is.
I guess they expect you to sweeten this a great deal, but I’m usually a fan of sweetened tea unless it’s a chai or something desserty.
It’s pretty ok. I generally don’t like hibiscus teas because the sour flavor is so intense when hot, and I usually think of tea as a hot drink. And for my cold brewed teas, I usually like a green or oolong, but I imagine this would be good cold with sugar and some slices of orange floating in it.
Preparation
A little unsatisfactory. I was just walking around browsing westwood, and then I decided I was craving some tea – as per usual. I usually go to Coffee Bean, but I decided why not go to the good old Starbuckaroo. I’m a sucker for anything Vanilla, love vanilla tea, so when I saw that they made a “vanilla Rooibos” latte, I decided to be a little fiesty and order it. I don’t know if it was because I didn’t hear my name being called the first 5 times and the latte was a bit cold, but it was a bit unsatisfactory. I didn’t like the fruity undertones that much….meh. Perhaps I should try it without the latte part, just hot water and a good ol TEA BAG
It’s a Tazo tea day!
Hmm, this doesn’t taste much like a green tea. The liquor is very dark, golden/amber in color. It reminds me of the color of honey.
It actually tastes a little like honey too. But not the honey from bees, more like agave nectar. With a little sweetener, it’s drinkable. But not delicious.
Strange, this. I’m getting a bitter taste that’s reminiscient of oversteeping a lower quality tea. Really no grassy greenness at all. Not much in the way of floral lotus either (unless lotus smells/tastes like agave nectar).
It’s too bad they market this as a green tea. The average American consumer who has never tried real green tea will be led astray by this imposter.
It’s back to my loose leaf stores at home! No more mass marketed bagged teas for me!
Preparation
If it contains Lotus it will have a similar effect to Kava. It’s also called the narcotic of the Nile….
Kava is nothing like Lotus. Blue Lotus has mild psycho-active properties and can act as a mild sedative. Kava interacts with medication and can kill your liver (thus killing you). They are completely different substances.
yes of course they are completely different. As far as it killing your liver, I believe that started in Germany where they were using other parts of the plant other than the root.
