This tea has me a little frightened. It looks like red wine, and rose hips oozed out of the tea bag when I squeezed it! Here we go again with the oozing rose hips!!!
I’ve had this tea before as an Iced Passion Tea Lemonade at Starbucks. But I’ve never tried to drink it hot and by itself.
Wow! That is tart! I think it needs the lemonade to dilute and sweeten it. This is much stronger than I would have expected from an herbal tea.
I’m actually not even sure if I can drink it like this. It’s giving me an instant headache. I think I’ll stick with the Starbucks creation instead.
It’s so strange because it is AMAZING iced with lemonade. This is a completely different experience. If you told me this was the same tea as in the Starbucks creation, I wouldn’t believe it. Crazy.
If it goes down the drain, it gets a rating of 10 or less. Sorry Passion tea. :(
Preparation
I’m a fan of vanilla rooibos teas but this one just didn’t seem to do the job for me. It had more of a fruity cinnamon apple taste instead of smooth vanilla and was somewhat reminiscent of the scented candles at bed bath and beyond. On top of that it left a strange aftertaste similar to one an artificial sweetener would have.
Maybe if this tea had a stronger rooibos flavor I would have rated it higher, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting out of a vanilla rooibos blend.
Preparation
I had to check the package twice I feel like I just drank a mixture of theraflu and sunny d. TANGY, NASTY, BLAH…. Good thing I just purchased the box of assorted flavors and not an entire box of this junk. Now to figure out how to burn the other two tea bags without burning my eyes out with citric acid vapors.
(Guest post from my mom, who also posts on Crazy Tea Chick!)
Suffice to say, I drink TAZO Passion tea as often as some people drink water. Maybe more.
I know from experience that truly great tea and herbal infusions can help you kick the diet soda and regular soda (pop, soft drink, Coke….) habit. Almost daily we read how unhealthy soft drinks and diet drinks are for us. It really is time to make the switch for good. What’s more, we need to do all we can to help our loved ones make the same healthy switch.
If you provide them with great alternatives, such as TAZO Passion Tea as well as other flavored teas, the switch won’t just happen, it’ll STICK!
Passion Tea is a little easier to find in stores that TAZO’s Wild Sweet Orange Tea; however it is also available on Amazon. Like the Wild Sweet Orange Tea, Passion tea is excellent cold or hot – I honestly love it both ways equally. Each of these teas has something else in common – neither needs any sweetener at all. I have as big a sweet tooth as anyone and am pretty guilty of throwing honey in just about everything! However, I wouldn’t dream of adding anything to these teas. Why mess with perfection?!
Order Herbal Infusion Tea-Passion (Decaf) on Amazon or look for it in the tea aisle of your favorite grocery store or Starbucks. You’ll become as passionate about it as we are.
Hey Emily….I’ve never tried Tazo’s Passion, but if you haven’t already, please read my review of Tazo’s Organic Chai. If you like Chai teas, that is a really good one. You should give it a try! :))
When I try to steep longer, with less water in the cup, to get more green tea flavor, the result is overpowered by the mint. Better to enjoy the tea and mint in balance and lighter. When brewed that way, I like the snappy flavors together, especially in the afternoon.
Preparation
I only brew this cold so I can make my own version of the shaken iced tea lemonade from Starbucks, which I once bought multiple times a day on a very hot, humid trip to the East Coast one August. The tea balances out the sourness of the lemonade very well. It’s the perfect refreshing summer drink! I use 1 bag per 8 oz of water and let it steep in the glass or pitcher for awhile, then I add equal parts lemonade and some ice. It’s not rocket science, you can play with the ratios to your taste. No sweetener needed!
The key to this is finding a good quality lemonade. I believe Starbucks uses their own exclusive kind. I use Simply Lemonade since it’s one of the more “natural” options at my grocery store and it has good kind of homemade flavor on its own.
Preparation
I was in an un-name-able store in order to buy little tea cups so I could have a tea party with my guy friends. Because I couldn’t have tea party without the cups. WELL they had freaking nothing, so I bought four “appetizer bowls” and they work perfectly! They even seem fancy. haha! http://www.webstaurantstore.com/cardinal-r0742-4-oz-spirit-china-deep-appetizer-bowl-24-cs/552R0742.html
I digress, the store also had some Tazo teas! I only go to Starbucks for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but I thought I would pick some up knowing it’s a decent brand at least!
It’s a nice tea, it’s making me sleepy. It is a little bit like apple pie, but the taste is very mild. After eating a very rich supper of homemade jerk chicken and spinach feta pizza with 13% alcohol honey mead and dark chocolate beer… the mild tea is just what I need to sober up and go to sleepytimes.
It is a bit licorice-y but not too much. Mostly apple and cinnamon, with a lot of woody rooibos. I will try as a latte, and I have vanilla syrup to sweeten so it will be perfect!
My favorite way to sweeten lattes is just drizzle a bit of syrup on top, none inside. This has been such a random note…
I was simply perusing the Tasting Notes, and your comments caught me eye. I hope you don’t mind my jumping in here.
Who says they aren’t? I, for one am male, AND I do not doubt that women are as smart as men. I think my wife is probably smarter than I am, but tell any other men I said that. ; ) I teach and even today I witnessed the brilliance of a young second grader (I would bet she is easily the brightest in her class). I just love seeing children shine!
btw, cool story. I love being resourceful!
I tried this iced. I steeped the bag for 3 minutes at 175F in 6 oz water and poured over ice. The color is quite light yellow brown. The taste is dominated by a wet cardboard flavor I cannot recommend. The aftertaste is nice and sweet, with some bittersweet. Light astringency is present.
Preparation
I don’t know why this tastes so different than my previous few cups that I based the earlier note on. This time it was more: more bitter, more vegetal, more flavor. I liked this cup of tea much more. Hotter water? I think it was the same. Longer steep time? I’m pretty sure not. Different altitude? Both cities I made this tea in were at about 5000 feet. Must have been in a better mood this time?
Preparation
Dry bag smells like dry grass clippings, a hint of mint; familiar and comforting.
Aroma over cup has a hearty nuttiness with a distinct cut grass smell.
Cup is yellow with some faint green.
First sips have a powdery green tea flavor with some very faint bitterness and some seaweed flavor, with some faint mint notes coming in the aftertaste after the dried grass clippings. There is a nuttiness that is less prominent that I expected from the smell of the dry tea. Soft and smooth. Astringency is nearly non-existent.
Sips midway through the cup have some bright flavor along the sides of my tongue that I can’t quite place, bittersweet? This dominates the bitter and other notes, which are still quite subdued. Astringency is starting to tap lightly in the back of my mouth at the end of a sip. Green tea flavor and nuttiness are still quite faint.
I will finish the box, but I’m sure I can find another bagged chinese green that has more pizazz. If you like a smooth, smooth, smooth green tea in a bag, try this.
Preparation
Ok, when I first brewed this cup, I was reading Steepster reviews, now I’ve signed up and I’m writing one, lol. This tea has a citrus taste, and a very subtle aftertaste that is pleasant. Suddenly, I’m very relaxed, and thinking of lying it down for the night. It reminds me of tension tamer, but not as strong. The results are very similar. This is def a good tea for me to drink at 11:30 so I don’t stay up until 3am. Paired w/ a bath or shower, this is def a relaxing tea. Two cups may be a good idea for those who have anxiety at night. This also seems like a good tea for meditation.
So, its the next morning and I’m back, lol. I fell asleep within 30min of drinking ‘The Rest’. This may be my nightly bed routine from here out. I slept a full 8 hours, and I don’t feel as groggy this morning.
Ew ew ew ew ew. Lemon, mint, AND green tea?
I like all of these by themselves, and thinking they would be good together was a TERRIBLE idea. The bitterness of the green tea does NOT go away no matter how much sweetener you put in. Ugh. Never ever will I drink this EVER again.
Okay, I actually bought the tea after a long time.
EHGOLUHFELDSGHSDLRGDRFG EW.
I’ve tried different steeping times, water temp, sweeteners, but it tastes like crap. When I went to starbucks to ask how they made it, the barista just shrugged and said “We use the hot water”. It tastes like medicine.

Well, if you like chai teas, there is a chance that you will like this. There are spices galore and even stronger, orange. You may need to add some sugar, because it can get very tart. The tea is NOT sweet, unless sweetened, so I just refer to it as Wild Orange. :) I love it, to be honest.
