Delicious — a must-have for anybody who enjoys Starbucks chai lattes, as this is quite literally the exact product they use. The flavor of the tea and spices are well in evidence, it’s milky and sweet but not too sweet, and there’s just a touch of bite from the black pepper. I couldn’t say how authentic it actually is, but for me this is the ideal chai.
Easy to find, easy to brew in bags at work and I can keep a couple bags in my purse. My go to chai. I don’t enjoy it black at all but with milk and honey its a very decent chai. I know there are probably better out there but this one is good enough to keep me from searching too hard.
Really yummy iced! Finally got a REAL package of this tea after the previous fiasco. When I brewed a cup hot it was too light for me to taste any of the vanilla or the apricot. Now that it’s been cold brewed I can taste the apricot, but still no vanilla. It’s enjoyable, but doesn’t do what it “says on the tin” :)
Found a box on vacation in Florida for 25 cents at a yard sale…first win! I was intrigued at the list of ingredients including the Mate and the rosemary. I could not taste much cocoa in this tea as I could a mix of the citrus and rosemary. Overall it’s a good tea. Not teagasm good but this is one I would buy and have on hand at work. I like the fact that it has the Mate in it. My wife’s aunt does not drink coffee so it’s nice to have this on hand as a sub. I definitely like this tea better than a lot of the selections you can find at a Starbucks location.
I brewed a tall dark pitcher of this in the fridge. Oh my criminy! Everyone at work drinks Passion. I like it so much better cold than hot! Nice on the porch on a hella hot day. No sweetener required, but it didn’t hurt!
when I worked at Starbucks we always had iced pitches of this on hand. It was actually pretty good mixed with…. something I can’t remember right now, damnit.
I’m glad you rated this tea. I still have a few bags of this left. I wasn’t too impressed with it hot. Maybe I’ll have to try it iced. Thanks!
I totally agree with you – it’s so much better iced. When I worked at Starbucks, we figured out that the Passion Tea Lemonade (easy to make at home), tastes pretty good with vodka as well ;-)
I’m drinking Tazo China Green Tips because I don’t want to drink my good tea when I’m too sick to enjoy it. I keep this tea in house to make for my MIL when she pisses me off. Yup, I get passive aggressive with tea.
I mixed crystallized ginger and mulled mint into this tea and that helped the flavor a bit. This isn’t a terrible tea… but it’s not a great one either. Meeeh…
I just picked this up at Target yesterday. I had two cups before bed last night and it did seem to help me fall asleep faster. It didn’t make me super drowsy or anything so I’ve decided to try a cup this afternoon just to relax. I really like the flavor as-is. Lemon is what stands out the most for me, but I can still taste and smell the rosesMy guess would be that if you don’t like Earl Grey you will not like this tea, as the flavors are pretty similar IMO.
I was pleasantly surprised by the nice medium body brew that I got out of this Tazo teabag. It was a little out of my usual taste preferences, but made for a nice refreshing cup of tea. Then again, there really is very little tea flavor that you can taste through the spices. This blend seems to have been created to be a good middle of the road chai, able to please the most people by being neither too spicy, or too weak, but having a nice bit of zip. Nice to taste a hint of Peppercorn, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cloves, and Star Anise. I am really pleased that I gave this one a try.
Preparation
O.K. Steepster friends, it’s time to review my first Chai Tea (not first tasted, of course). After many years of drinking Chai, I felt that I needed something a little spicier. I was in the grocery store Summer 2005, I believe; and I thought I’d never find a Chai with black pepper. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found TAZO Organic Chai! Honestly, all my Chai teas I tasted were in tea bag form back then. I just grew tired of Chai tea… UNTIL I tried Tazo’s brand.
Yes the cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom were all there, and well represented too; but, it was the black pepper that kicked it up a notch. BAMM!! It was just the right kick of added spice I needed, AND I’m so glad this tea lived up to my expectations! For me the black pepper was the star here, but not too overpowering. Every ingredient is tasted here…my taste buds were jumping for joy!
This is the best tea bag Chai I’ve tasted, and bought it several times. I gave it an 85 because there are a couple of loose leaf Chai’s I like better. If you feel the need for Chai tea, and tea bags are your only option, this more than satisfies.
Tea bags aside, this is a really good Chai tea, worthy of any tea cupboard. As you can tell I really enjoyed it! Steep on……………………….
Preparation
Brewed in about 6 oz boiling water, then honey and 2 oz milk added.
I like this, although I could go for stronger spice, especially peppercorn. All the flavors I tasted were well-balanced: tea, cinnamon, anise, then ginger, and cardamom/pepper bringing up the rear. I suppose that if the spice flavors were stronger, I would also ask for a bolder black tea. I can say that I didn’t have a hard time making out the tea among the milk, honey, and spices, but nothing about it called out for my attention.
When I am in the mood, I like making my own chai in a small sauce pot, throwing in the amount of spices that I like. Then I go for more peppercorn. This chai in a bag is more to my taste than the CS India Spice which is too heavy on the cinnamon for me.
One interesting thing: one of the tea bag pouches was not sealed and the bag was misfolded. It was leaking tea and spices all over the inside of the box, but the box didn’t smell of tea or spices.
Preparation
Backlogging from San Fran again!
TMI ahead? Maybe if you’re ridiculously easily offended. I use the word toilet….
Let me tell you, I did a ton of walking down there. I mean everywhere. All the time. Public toilets? No. So how am I supposed to go to the bathroom?! Starbucks. Everywhere.
Go in. Buy a tea. Use the toilet.
I didn’t mind it! I first got it as a latte, but I enjoyed the flavor enough to get it straight. Of course this only led to more trips to the bathroom, and more Starbucks stops for tea. It’s a vicious cycle.
This stuff taste like awful cough syrup you got forced to take when you was a kid.. To much of every thing. To much Orange, To much Lemongrass, To much Citrus. it almost hurt to drink it. crazy as that sounds it got the pucker power going and locked down the jaw
Preparation
Tried this tea straight, no honey or anything. The taste was very bitter. Added a bit of honey and it offset the bitterness slightly. Not bad with honey not sure I would drink it straight however. Also, the bags are a tad old, that may have something to do with it.
