165 Tasting Notes
I went to the mall yesterday to pick up a couple of things and just as I was leaving, I passed right by the Davids Tea…well I just had to go in didn’t I? I saw this tea as the tea of the month on the shelf and asked to smell it. I agree with the other comments who have mentioned that this is very similar to Daydreamer; I would also compare the smell to that of Happy Komboucha. I did however enjoy those brews more than this one. This tea lacked flavour and I probably would not have this one again. Perhaps iced, but not likely.
When I got the Spring collection for Easter, this was the one I was least excited to try (I HATE MELON!!!). So, this one has been sitting in my cupboard for nearly a month unopened. Today I finally got curious and tore open the pack. Wow…what a surprise! I actually like it and will finish the cup. This collection was quite surprising for me…the teas I expected to love the most I winded up hating and vice versa. I will definetely finish the 25g bag that was in the collection. I can’t say that I would re-stock but I am glad I tried it.
I love lychee and have been trying to find this tea for months! Everywhere I have gone, they have said that they don’t carry it anywhere due to the high cost of the fruit…‘Challenge Accepted!’
I finally found this one and picked up 25g (not knowing if I would ever find it again!) I liked the smell of the dry tea (really fruity)however, I find that once steeped, it definetely becomes a more floral tea. I also found the taste to be quite floral aswell. I dont think that I liked it as much as I had expected to however, I definetely will reccomend to pick up a small amount to try if ever you are lucky enough to find it!
This one really surprised me. I never would have tried this one if a friend of mine hadn’t reccomended it to me as I am not the biggest fan of honey. But, to my surprise I really enjoyed it! I would definetely steep this again and maybe would try it as a latte aswell. I will definetely be buying more of this when the 20g sample I bought runs out. The honey flavour isnt as overwhelming as I had thought but it definetely does come through nicely. Like many of the other reviews, I was surprised that there is not even any honey in there! I expected there to be small pieces of crystalized honey or something. But, oh well…it tastes good so I’m going to drink it! :p
I picked up a sample of this today and was quite pleasantly surprised.I love the warmth of this tea. It really reminded me of chai guarana and also of ceylon star. Overall I think that this is a great tea. I just had it as a tea however, I think that it would also be good as a latte. I will definetely pick up more of this tea. Due to the warmth of this tea, I am surprised it was the april tea of the month.
I had this one as a cup to go today and I have to say that I was slightly disapointed. I expected the flavour of cranberry to be in the forefront with a spice lingering in the back yet, I was overwhelmed with the spice and none of the cranberry. The tea was slightly tart and that was the only hint of cranberry that I got. Overall, I think that the tea was ok and I was certainly able to finish the cup yet, I would not be upset if it didnt come back next year.
I had this tea for the first time this morning and so did my cat! He went crazy over the catnip and even took a sip when I wasn’t looking! I loved this tea so much that I had it twice today. It does exactly what it promises and for me that was a relief. This morning, I just steeped up a cup for the taste but after a heavy supper, I needed it for the stomach relief. I love that it is a natural remedy and also that it has no caffeine so it is perfect for late at night. I found this one to be (in terms of taste) almost in between North African Mint and Detox so if you liked those, you may enjoy this aswell. Please note that my rating is based on both taste and performance. :)
This was the 4th tea in the spring collection that I brewed up. I am not the biggest fan of all herbals but this one was alright. The taste of this tea comes true to the dry smell…BANANAS! Although there are almonds in this tea, the nuttyness is not overwhelming and almost mimics the flavour of a banana-nut-bread. My only complaint is that the banana taste is so overwhelming that it almost tastes artificial. Overall, a good banana-flavoured tea that I will surely brew again.
This was the 3rd tea of the spring collection that I tried for the first time this morning. I LOVE coconut and I am really starting to drink oolong teas. This one for me was really dissapointing from the start. I found the smell to be really artificial and almost chemical-like. When steeped, this tea becomes a really light shade of yellow. Again, the taste was slightly chemical-like. I am not planning to brew this one again for a while but it did give me the idea to make a coconut oolong cookie and use this tea in the recipe. If I am able to do that, I will be sure to post the recipe!
This was the 2nd tea that I decided to try in the spring collection. The smell of this one is intoxicating! When steeped, the citrucy smell mellows and the green tea base really shines through. I really liked that aspect of this tea as I find that in alot of the flavoured green tea blends that the flavouring overpowers the base.
