From Lupicia

Decadent with chocolate on the nose, finishing with the juicy tart flavor of ripe strawberries. The rich flavors of puer tea and chocolate also work wonderfully with milk.

Instructions: 2.5-3g tea leaves, 150ml boiling water, steep 1.5-2 minutes

Country of Origin: China, India

Ingredients: Puer tea, black tea, roasted cocoa, rose petal, heath flower, flavourings

Puerh is my favorite tea. This is an excellent, flavored puerh. It is very different from a traditional puerh because of the flavoring. Somehow it reminds me more of a flavored black, but without any bitterness, astringency, or malt. The strawberry flavor is prominent, followed by the chocolate. The flavor of the puerh is a distinct third. Because of that it is probably an excellent puerh for non puerh drinkers to try. There is basically no fermentation flavor detectable in this tea. I rate this as probably the best flavored puerh I have drank, although not the best puerh. I also don’t think this one would benefit as much from Gongfu brewing as a traditional puerh. I brewed this western style and it tastes amazing.

I brewed this once in an 18oz teapot with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 30 sec.

This tea has been on my wishlist for a while now, and beelicious was kind enough to send along a sample in our recent swap. It was just as good as I was hoping it would be! The scent is so decadent: just like real chocolate-covered strawberries! And the flavor is rich and fruity and perfectly bittersweet. No funky taste from the puerh base at all. I think I’m going to have to purchase this one when my sample runs out!

I bought this in my Lupicia order. I’m glad you liked it. I still have to try it. Maybe tomorrow morning.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

It’s on my list to try tomorrow. Sounds delish.

Inkling

I hope you both enjoy it as much as I did! :)

I have to start using the wishlist feature. I don’t think I have any teas on my wishlist.

Yummy yummy. This goes on the ‘to buy’ list. It’s very decadent.

From the Cooking TTB

This reminds me of chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. Maybe that should be one of the recipes I post?

Mmmmmm….okay, I’m about to get really specific. Have you ever gotten one of those chocolate-covered strawberries that is so big you can’t possible eat it in one go? So, you crack the outer shell and bite through to the strawberry and just enjoy? And then, when you go back for the second (or third) bite, you get a whiff of that super delicious smell of chocolate and fresh strawberry juice?
This.
This smells exactly like that.
The taste, however, is a touch more towards the neapolitan milkshake arena of chocolate-strawberry goodness.
So fantastic. Oh man.

Having not had much experience much experience with pure teas, I can’t give much info on the puer. I love the strawberry and chocolate but I did need a touch of sweetener.

I don’t know how many resteeps I should get from this but I’m on 4Xs and going strong.

This definitely one for the wish list. I have two more sachets which I will cherish!

Thanks KatBender!!

Lupicia day continues! This sample was sent to me by Dexter, and honestly, I find it a bit intimidating. I have liked some ripe puerhs that I’ve tried, but then there are those that taste like dirt and fish poo. So I’m hoping this won’t be one of those, lol. The dry tea smells like sweet strawberries and a bit of milk chocolate. I steeped this up in my new infuser mug! (http://instagram.com/p/uOfokGGgAh/)

The steeped tea doesn’t smell intimidating – no fishies here. It does smell somewhat earthy, but with lovely sweet strawberry and chocolate notes. I added about half a teaspoon of raw sugar to mine. Honestly, this one is much more mild in flavor than I expected (maybe I should have steeped it at boiling…). I do taste the chocolate and the strawberry, along with the earthy puerh base. Pretty good, though not something I would drink often or want in my cupboard.

Fish poo, LMAO! (comments are acting up so I apologize in advance if you get the fish poo comment twice, haha.) all these reviews are making it awfully tempting to go to Lupicia again…

I’ve liked the strawberry teas of theirs I’ve tried, and I’ve liked the chocolate teas. So I was glad to try them both together. This tea smells awesome… like these strawberry chocolate candies I get from the Japanese market. There is a nice, creamy chocolatey flavour, which pairs really well with the sweet berry.

Wish I could try their other flavoured puer, but this one is really good.

Lupicia tea #4!

I will make this short as it’s bedtime.

This was a well done dessert tea. Definitely tasted like chocolate and strawberries, but not in a gross, artificial way.

And the pu’erh just seemed to add a deep richness to it, a subtle earthiness that took away from the sweetness. In a good way.

This isn’t one I would need to stock, once it’s gone it wouldn’t likely make it back on my shopping list but it’s pretty awesome how well done the flavours are. Good when I’m having a chocolate craving! Which is most of the time, really :)

No mushrooms I hope

Sil

This one isn’t bad as a latte

ohfancythat

No mushrooms! Lol. The flavour hides the mushrooms.

Good idea Sil!

This is totally a dessert tea, really good. Creamy chocolate and strawberry taste… A nice treat. Puerh was a little scary, after I’d had one sample that I could not stand at all and had to toss, but these flavored ones from Lupicia are good. So good that I think someone’s drank some without telling me…

It’s chocolate, it’s strawberry, it’s pu erh…what’s not to like about this one? I always find that chocolate pairs very well with the more earthy and rich notes of pu erhs. Also, I find that the strawberry cuts through some of that thickness quite well. So I think this is an excellent tea!

Come onnnnnn July :)

Plunkybug

I know, waiting for those things can be so hard. I have some hair stuff I ordered ages ago, but the girl who makes it was hospitalized for a bit, and only recently completed my order (they’re all custom) and sent off…on May 16th and still in Chicago. Grr.

ohfancythat

But then when it comes in the mail it’s the GREATEST DAY EVER!!

Plunkybug

Totally!
