DO NOT CONSUME THINGS YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO… I did ( yes kinda on purpose) but don’t do it please I don’t want anyone getting hurt.

Well, let me start this one by saying that I’m an idiot. I did not pay attention to the ingredients when I ordered this one I was just excited because I love blondies. Of course one of the most anticipated holiday blends in my cupboard has pineapple in it. It’s not that I don’t like pineapple, I recently developed an allergy to it that I never had before, I actually used to eat it every day. So when I read the ingredients I was a little sad so I made a cup for my mom and just took a little sip before taking a Benadryl. That being said, I don’t think I’m missing out, while I liked the ginger and vanilla from the tiny sip I tasted it was sickeningly sweet… However, my mom liked it so I’m going to gift it to her so it’s not wasted.

2021 Sipdown 103/365!
(DavidsTea 190)

Ooh, this is rated quite low. I’m definitely not a huge fan of it, but it’s not that bad! Quite gingery and fairly sweet and creamy. Too much ginger for me, but I feel like it might have made an interesting latte? I think this may have been the last of it that I had, though.

An Ode to Tea challenge – G

From the sampler tower I bought a while ago!  Still pouting that there was really only three teaspoons of each sample.  Gone now!  This is a DESSERT TEA whoa.   It is so sugary! And since it’s new the stevia hasn’t gotten overly gross yet.  New stevia is OKAY.  Old stevia is just BAD.  I recently had my first blondie brownie during the holiday season and is it just me (or that specific blondie?) but a blondie to me is like a big block of raw cookie dough and I’m all for that dessert. haha.  This tea is much the same.  Sweet sweet, the sweetest tea I’ve ever had that is less like gingerbread and more like cookie dough, maybe with a hint of lemon for some reason?  I like it!  I’m surprised at the low rating.  But honestly, I can’t taste the ingredients here like all the fruit under all that sweetness. Not even the ginger! The star and gingerbread sprinkles are adorable.   In future, one teaspoon is more than enough.  I seem to like this more than most! Sad it’s gone, but not sad I didn’t have to taste old stevia.  I would like to revisit those blondies again though…

I actually agree about stevia. I’m fine with it when it’s fresh, but I get a weird metallic/bitter aftertaste from old stevia. I even get that if I leave a cup with stevia in it out and go back to it later. When I drank it right away it tasted fine, later it tasted weird…

Davids Tea Advent Day 6

I’m not sure what’s going on with this tea. It brewed so weak at first I added more. It smells like an overly sweet baked gingerbread, but the taste is more of a tart fruit covered in sugar with a hit of spicy ginger at the end. The gingerbread sprinkles were adorable, at least?

I had a sample of this from the holidays last year. One of my colleagues gave me one of the little DT ornaments with tea inside.

I am not so much a fan. I did pick out all the white star and orange people sprinkles in full disclosure. However, with the sugared fruit pieces, I think the sugar is cloying here. Also, there seems to be a hint of lemon, which might be nice, but the cloying just seems to cancel it out. The scent and a little bit of the flavour actually comes off like those old school flavoured marshmallows I had as a kid.

I’m going to compost the rest of this and call this a sipdown.

It’s a weird one, but I do actually seem to be in the minority and enjoy this one.

I only had another 1-2 cups worth left, but if I had had more, I may have sent it over to you!

Tiffany :)

No worries, I bought a little (6 oz?) last year. It’s not like “OMG AMAZ!” or anything but I’ll enjoy the little bit I have. :) What teas have you been enjoying lately?

Courtney

Hahah! It’s important to grab our favs when we can. My go-to for years has been TTC Yuchi Wild Mountain Black, but others that I keep reaching for lately are B&B Vicky’s Sponge Cake and Rhubarb & Custard. Also just re-ordered another fav for years: Bailin Gongfu. How about you?

This one smells a lot like alpine punch. It tastes mostly like somewhat spicy ginger. The flavor isn’t too deep, and it’s not super special, but it’s decent. There’s nothing that contributes to the blondie flavor, so I consider this tea to be poorly named. There’s a little bit of a pineapple flavor in some sips and also some strangeness. It takes milk pretty well. As usual, I’d rather have straight ginger tea. The resteep was good. I wouldn’t say it’s special enough to buy, but it’s not one I’d mind drinking.

The flavor most at the forefront of your sip is the spicy ginger, it lingers for a moment until the creamy vanilla takes over in the after taste. What’s odd is that I felt as though the two flavors never met, there was a first flavor and an after flavor but the middle was flavorless as if something was noticeably missing. I don’t know if perhaps this tea would be better suited as a latte, to have the milk bring the ingredients together with a little more, but as a plain hot cup, something’s a little off with Gingerbread Blondie.

Caramel, gingery goodness. Satisfyingly cozy but does not stand out.

When I tried this in store, I was like meh – because it tasted similar to the older tea, Ginger Beer… But trying this again at home it is great! I can really taste the vanilla this time, which definitely makes it different. I actually really like this one. It’s a good balance between the ginger, fruit and vanilla. I’m going to have to order some.

In short- I find this tea gross. The ginger comes off as artificial and almost chemical-like. All I can taste is the stevia and pineapple, which really turns my stomach combined with the overwhelming ginger aroma. Dumped.
