S’mores Chai

I almost made a coffee early this morning, but went to my sip down pile, instead. This was sitting on the top and it was leftovers from Advent season. I over brewed this with the intention of it having some age and likely losing strength. The aroma had some mild marshmallow and chocolate notes. The tea itself was like a watered-down hot cocoa. I understand that the sample is older, so I shall forgo a rating.

It certainly smells like s’mores while steeping. The flavor it light but it does give off a s’mores taste. Definitely sweet with marshmallow and the hazelnut reminds me of graham crackers. Other’s noted that there’s a spiciness to it but I don’t sense that at all.

This tea is my daily driver alternating with cream of earl grey. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth and love chocolate, you’ll love this! The steeping has a wide margin for error, so if you’re working with a regular boiler / percolator that doesn’t do specific heat other than “boil” — this is a good option. Keeps good flavor for a long time.

I had a very busy day today and wanted to reward myself with something decadent so I decided on a mug of this tea.
Good grief, it’s bloody delicious!
After it steeped, I took a few good gulps of it and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the flavour without adding my vegan cream. This one really doesn’t need anything added to be yummy but like I said before, I’m rewarding myself so I added my vegan cream and it was the special treat that I had wanted/needed.
I don’t know that I would necessarily say that this tastes like a S’more per se but it is very dessert-like, some kind of gourmet cookie comes to mind.
I happily sucked this back like there was no tomorrow!

I don’t love cinnamon and chocolate together, but this was quite nice.

This is such a comforting tea!

This was a sipsby selection, and on the surface is very much my vibe – a dessert tea with a little spice. They sent it in teabags, and of the four I drank, two had a solid spice component, one had a noticeable but tame spice, and one had almost no spice at all.
Without the spice, it’s still fine for a dessert! I like a little chocolate tea, and this sweetness makes sense because it’s very much a s’more. The inconsistency just makes it hard to take this tea from a like to a love.

I don’t have much experience with puerh tea so I was excited to see this in a fun blend like Smores. I’m not a big of smores, they are too sweet and dry. So dry lol but I do like this tea. I guess chocolate teas can be good, this being the second one I like. It does have artificial flavors. Doesn’t really taste like Smores though, just a nice spiced chocolate tea. But not too spiced. I like it. Glad I have another mini sample. I made mine as a latte.

I did not enjoy this tea. It tasted of chocolate, but I didn’t get any of the spiciness that I associate with chai.
