From DAVIDsTEA

How do we like to start our mornings? With a blueberry muffin of course. Rich, crumbly and downright irresistible, it’s the kind of snack that never fails to make us happy. And this fruity tisane is every bit as satisfying as the real thing. It’s got crisp apple, raisins, carrot and fresh blueberries. Not to mention yogurt bits for extra creaminess. Sweet, buttery and slightly tart, it’s the perfect treat to bring along on your next road trip or early work commute. And if you’re really feeling adventurous, try adding it to your oatmeal for an extra pop of flavour. Now that’s what we call the breakfast of champions.

Ingredients:
Apple (apple, citric acid), raisins, carrot, hibiscus blossoms, beetroot, yogurt bits (milk yogurt powder, sugar, maltodextrin, modified starch, citric acid), blueberries, cornflower blossoms, natural and artificial flavouring.

Price per 50g: $7.98

Oh yeah, this was one of the other in-store samples I tried today.

The hibiscus was front and centre—which is not a problem for me as I like hibiscus. There was a bit of a blueberry muffin followup afterwards. Overall, I enjoyed it and could see having a cup from time to time.

I have mixed feelings about Blueberry Muffin. I like it better cold, as it really does have a golden, buttery, muffin hint to it, along with the sweet berry taste. Hot, it’s all sour berries and I can taste an earthy, sour, pickled note from the beet root (I know that David’sTea uses beet root to dye the tea color pink, but I don’t really need my tea to be pink and I don’t want to taste beets). Sometimes this comes off as really sour and earthy, and other times it actually tastes something like a blueberry muffin. It’s better to me once it has cooled all the way off.

I can’t get over how much this actually tasted like blueberry muffins! Not just blueberries, but the batter and all. I’ve only tried it iced for now, but I intend to try it hot tomorrow morning. The aftertaste really tastes like cake but it does leave a bit of a mouth feel.

I am seriously in love with this tea. I tried this as a sample thinking I would not like it but I have fallen in love with it! It’s legitimately tastes like a fresh baked blueberry muffin. It even has the taste of the buttery crumble on top of the muffin. I seriously recommend this tea and I don’t normally like teas with hibiscus. If you don’t like hibiscus then you can add a little bit of sugar and this tea will be perfect for you!

Iced tea made with 2 PS steeped in a 1 liter mason jar, cooled to room temperature, and refrigerated overnight with the teabag. Tart blueberry/apple with a cakey scent. I liked it but found it a tiny bit too tart. The muffin came through well in the smell more than the taste, but I did find it tasting very smooth and buttery. Again, I liked it and would buy more if it were on sale.

Tart, lightly creamy, with an overbearing general fruit flavour. Lacks the cake/grain/nutty flavours that one would expect from a “muffin”-flavoured tea.

Originally I purchased this for a friend who sticks to mostly herbal and decaf teas because it smelled so good. I tried a cup with her thinking I wouldn’t like it because of the hibiscus and raisins in it. Surprisingly, I found it quite enjoyable and definitely channeling the flavour of baked goods. There’s a nice fruitiness from the blueberries and apples that blends into a buttery and cake-like baked flavour. I ended up buying my own pack afterwards and enjoyed it thoroughly during a visit with my folks this past weekend. I’m learning I maybe shouldn’t veto teas just because of hibiscus. But it needs to be hidden well. Really well.

Excuse me, but is this a baked good or a tea? Because this tea tastes exactly like a fresh blueberry muffin straight out of the oven. It’s on the sweeter side, but nothing unbearable. The tartness of the blueberry cuts through the sweetness a tad bit. Definitely an excellent dessert tea. I’ve steeped the same tea ball 3 times now and the flavor isn’t any weaker than the first cup. All of the aromas blend perfectly together to smell like a blueberry muffin. I do detect a whiff of hibiscus, carrot, and raisin.

This was the tea I had while packing up teas for tea friends and watching Smallville. I wasn’t sure what to expect since the reviews haven’t exactly been positive but as a cold brew, this tastes like a blueberry tart. Jammy and sweet yet also tart and with a hint of pastry lingering in the background. It is actually quite nice, albeit kinda poorly named.

Nattie

Ah, Tom Welling, my first love.

VariaTEA

Well he is gorgeous so that’s understandable.

Nattie

I can safely say that my love of superheroes began the moment I walked into the living room while my dad was watching Smallville, saw Tom Welling, and decided to stay and watch the episode. I’ve never looked back.

VariaTEA

I actually really don’t like Superman but I am getting over that

Nattie

Yeah Smallville’s is really the only Superman I ever fully got behind. I’m much more a Marvel girl in general (:

A sad sipdown. This has been a consistently tasty all day tea. See, I’ve found that when I’m home I tend not to drink tea, which is kind of sad. So I’ve started making up large pots and working on them throughout the day when I’m off. I’m happier, there are no more caffeine withdrawal headaches, but unfortunately this leads to sipping down teas I really like. (Because if you’re going to make 1300ml of tea in one go, it had better be something you enjoy drinking.)

So, today is my last day with this one. Creamy and sweet with a hint of tartness from the blueberries. I wouldn’t say it screams “blueberry muffin” because the fruit flavor is a little generic for that, but it’s nice to sip on all day long.
