Play it cool
Some things are just undeniably cool. Black leather jackets. Rock ‘n’ roll. And you can’t argue with the just the right pair of sunglasses. But in our books, there’s nothing cooler than this deliciously refreshing black tea with melon, real cucumber slices and just a hint of mint. It’s bracingly fresh, totally invigorating and surprisingly addictive. And unlike those sunglasses, it’ll never go out of style. We told you it was cool… Limited edition.

Ingredients:
Black tea, honeydew melon, cucumber, sunflower petals, blue mallow blossoms, natural and artificial flavoring.*
**Contains spearmint flavour.

Price per 50g: $7.50

Brewed this with hot water, and chilled overnight for a nice morning pick-me-up. In the AM, I added ice and agave.

When I got to work and started drinking this, I couldn’t stop. The mint and cucumber flavor infusion was fantastic. This is one to stock up on for a refreshing summer treat. I just picture sitting on the balcony, reading a book, enjoying the breeze and the city skyline while I sip this down all summer-afternoon long…. Yum.

Pleasant surprise, this one! I thought this would smell and taste über weird. Who wants to drink 90s cucumber melon lotion? I pretty much got all the new ones except Pom Tango since it’s a repeat and Peaches ‘n’ Cream since it smelled off to me.

And my, is the teaware ever adorable. It would be so hard to choose just one, but ultimately, I’d go with the tentacles.

But as for Cool Cucumber, this is quite heavy on the spearmint, both in scent and flavour. Hot, both the spearmint and melon are competing with each other, but in a healthy way. No shoving or knives involved here. This is such a crisp, fresh blend. I don’t really get cucumber from it, but you automatically associate the melon here with it, and the general crispness suggests fresh cucumber.

By the way, I asked the sales associate about next month’s TOTM and she was sheepish to give away any extra details even though I already said I know what it is. I asked if she could verify if they added lemongrass to it, and she wouldn’t tell me! Blargh.

I have Blue Lagoon cold brewing so we’ll see how that turns out tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the note on this one! I’m so excited to try it! did you take it straight?

Fjellrev

Yep, hot and no additives. It’s better than I expected hot. I thought it would only make a decent iced tea.

Rosehips

Oooh! I’m so glad you reviewed this, as this one sounded really interesting.

OMGsrsly

Thank you for confirming spearmint! I asked in-store, and the girl said it wasn’t really minty. Spearmint is definitely something I need to stay away from. :)

Fjellrev

You can’t do any kind of mint? I’m surprised she said that, because it’s almost like chewing on a stick of Wrigley’s spearmint gum. Sorry it ruined it for you!

OMGsrsly

I hate hate hate spearmint, and my BFF is throat-closingly allergic to peppermint. So while I have a couple pepperminty teas, it’s something I tend to avoid. :) Wintergreen and eucalyptus and stuff like that is fine tho.

Nightshifter

Oh I love the tentacle teaware! Lucky you! :)

Fjellrev

I didn’t buy it! But it is oh so tempting. I told myself that I can only get it if it goes on sale. :)

This smells amazing. The steeped scent is (mint?) all cucumber melon. The flavours are light here and don’t come through too strongly. But the base also isn’t overwhelming. Overall a light tea. The scent is definitely what makes this tea amazing. Every time I bring it for a sip, the smell is just delicious.

P.S. I’m not supposed to tell you guys, but apparently Coconut Oolong is making a reappearance in April. They said it has lemongrass this time around.

Eee!!!!! The whales are SO CUTE!

Is this tea really minty? They say a “hint” of mint, but I don’t see mint in the ingredients.

Courtney

I thought that upon first smell, but the more I sip away, the more what I thought was mint just becomes cucumber melon to be honest.

keychange

Would you say the flavours are weak though? so sad because I bet the smell would lead me on so much!

omg omg must get to dT! three hours to go now!

Courtney

Yep keychange. The smell is much stronger.

OMGsrsly

Thanks. :)

Ahh I think I am going to my store tonight, I looked at all the teaware and am freaking out, I want ALL of it. Haha I think I’ve narrowed it to 2 for myself, 2 for the bf lol..and I really want to try all the new teas!! This one looks so refreshing!

keychange

Alrighty. Still so excited to check it out!

Stephanie

The new whales mug is SOOOO cute. The last thing I need is another mug though, LOL

TeaLady441

Yay! We’re almost matching whale mug buddies! I chose the noric style bc I like the grip better, although I envy that yours has a whale in the inside…

Courtney

Stephanie I didn’t either, whoops!

Cavo I contemplated the Nordic mug, because my Spock mug has a similar shape, but I love the inner lime green and little whale too much.

Fjellrev

Ha, I was wondering if this would smell like late 90s cucumber melon lotion.

And I sure hope there isn’t lemongrass in the coconut oolong!

Courtney

I agree about the coconut oolong Fjellrev.

Fjellrev

Don’t call it coconut oolong then, damnit. :)

Lynxiebrat

OOooo I love lemongrass! Maybe I will try that one. I remember Bath and Body Works had a Cucumber Melon scent in the ’90’s…that wouldn’t happen to be the one ya’ll are talking about, would it? That was my favorite for the longest time.

Courtney

We’ll have to wait and see in April. That’s all word of mouth, so I could be wrong!

Hah! The cucumber melon scent is amazing.

Fjellrev

Yeah, I’m curious to see if it’s just rumour or if it’ll be like the original! Oh, that blasted telephone game.

Dry Leaf Nose: Well balance cucumber and melon notes over a black tea aroma.

Liquor: Lovely brown/red liquor, clear and bright with a melon and cucumber aroma.

Flavour: Black tea notes are accompanied by a good presence of melon and cucumber flavours, the overall being a well balanced and very refreshing cup.
