Yup, just like everyone else says… there is only the barest hint of berry tucked away in the middle of this rooibos. Hmmm.
Except… it’s super smooth. I don’t mind me some plain rooibos. It’s a little juicy, woodsy, and sweet. If you don’t get hung up on the lack of fruitiness, well you know, it’s pretty durn good. Just what I needed after battling it out today with my headache. Shame this was only a sample. All gone now.
The coyotes kept me up all night, plus I had a few drinks with friends at a bday party(cake pic is posted on my twitter account. @Marilynblooms, feel free to follow me!)
I’ve come across the alcohol/interrupted sleep equation three times recently, that I recall(twice due to those yappy creatures) and yup, that seems to be a trigger. Cosmopolitans followed by a quality snooze? makes for a happy me. Go figure. Heh.
Anyhow, caffeine helped so I was downing that all day. I am so grateful to the tea farmers around the world who work so hard to supply my habit. Really, I am. That thought crossed my mind several times today. Now it’s time to calm down!
OK I am rambling. Off to bed I go.

tea-sipper

Yeah, get your appreciation. I don’t think everyone can have back yard tea gardens!

Indigobloom

Haha, wouldn’t that be nice though! one of my bucketlist items, is to have a Camellia Sinensis tree. (even if I can’t harvest)

TeaBrat

I find that alcohol makes for a bad night of sleep too…

Indigobloom

Oh man I am so tired and I didn’t drink any alcohol, it was the coyotes again. zzzzzz
Why must there be so many factors concerning a good nights sleep?!

Sipdown! 195/365!

And thus ends my habit of leaving out infusers and cups of tea… found a fruit fly in last night’s remnants of Just Peachy, after discovering them on a rotten tomato in the kitchen that evening (freshly purchased cherry tomatoes… apparently there was one bad one amongst them. Sigh.) Much yuck. Hopefully I can keep the place clean enough to eradicate them quickly, but it’s getting to be that difficult time of year.

Anyways, this tea. Never liked it; it smells way too medicinal. Same thoughts now. There is a hint of something nice and fruity, and a bit of lemongrass, then it’s just gross, medicinal rooibos. Unfortunate. It does taste a little bit better watered down, but this is another tea I won’t miss.

Side note: why is my DT roulette box so full of herbals? Argh. I’m super sleepy right now and just realized I brewed up 3 herbals and one actual tea that’s really weak. Useless.

gmathis

Wish you were closer—our red and yellow cherry and plum tomatoes are coming on faster than we can use them!

Kittenna

Oh, I wish! I can’t wait for fresh garden tomatoes!

gmathis

I love to halve them and toss with pasta and Italian dressing.

Wow, I can’t believe I still have about 50 grams of this one. I wish I had known that you don’t have to buy 100 g of each tea way back when I started! I tripled up on the “leaf” to try to coax some flavour out of this today but it tastes exactly like it did three years ago – like rooibos with a hint of something lemongrass in the background and no raspberry to be seen. Or nectar, for that matter.

I am thinking that extra lemon could make this more interesting and maybe take it in a lemonade direction. I would like to add some lemon myrtle and see what I could get. Or maybe some mint and see what that does. It feels like it needs something sharp to jazz it up a bit.

EDIT to add: I just looked at my tasting note from three years ago. At that time I said I should mix it with lemon or mint. Way to go Uniquity! I still haven’t done it, but at least I have the same reaction. Also, I forgot all about three lemon green. I think I finished that years ago. Hmm.

keychange

I hear you on wishing I hadn’t purchased 100 G of each tea! but damn, those tins just look so much better than plastic bags!

Aimee Popovacki

haha….. i used to do that at davids… then i switched to doing it because they kept getting rid of teas… now luckily i’ve stopped that little habit lol.

Another pot of tea please and more fruit. I’m loving the fruit teas today. My stomach is a little off today so a caffeine free fruit tea has to be a winner right now.

This blend is mostly Rooibos with a large pinch of lemongrass mixed amongst it. I only see a couple of tiny raspberry pieces and something light yellow like perhaps lemon rind? So far it’s not looking as fruity as I had hoped for. Scent is quite fruity and sweet but the lemon dominates the raspberry.

Once steeped this tea is coppery in colour and has a sweet and very thick Rooibos scent. No real fruit scent to speak of.

There is supposed to be raspberry in this? I can’t taste any at all. It tastes like plain Rooibos with a hint (a very very delicate hint) of citrus fruit. I can’t explain the flavour of Rooibos other than it has an ‘ick’ factor about it, some chemical/weird flavour amidst a light and sweet tea. In other words a Rooibos fan might love this tea but for me it lacks flavour.

Ummm, I am glad I only bought 10g of this, it smells mostly Rooibos and I want to say honeybush, but I am not sure. There is no raspberry scent or taste, but I have yet to sip this tea, I am waiting for it to cool.

bleck! I just took this out of the freezer (attempt at flash cooling) all I can taste and smell is red rooibos… No sweet and tart raspberry.

Dorothy

Yeah that was my impression of this tea too. I’m not sure why raspberry is in the name if you can’t even taste it. :(

Jenn

My sentiments exactly!

MaddHatter

Maybe I got a batch that has been on the shelf too long? But I bought it at a DAVIDs that has been only open a month, so that does not make sense..

Jenn

I think that they just missed the mark on this one. I have such a huge respect for DAVID’s Tea, but every company has a dud once in awhile.

Uniquity

I bought this one and have always felt fuped. I occasionally get a lemongrass taste (if I remember correctly) but otherwise it’s just rooibos. I have learned in the last little while that if you are disappointed with a tea and bring it back in and tell them so, you get either a trade or a refund. Now, 10 g may seem like a small amount to haggle over but since I had bought a full tin of it I wish I had known way back when. : (

ps – I can’t believe this one has never been discontinued..I don’t know anyone that truly enjoys it, yet my favourites disappear regularly!

Uniquity

**duped, NOT fuped!

MaddHatter

Yes, I over heard the other day that their “Throat Soother” tea has just been discontinued! gasp

I have to agree with DMTea. This tea tastes like straight roobois to me. I do detect a slight aftertaste of some sort, but I’d be hard pressed to say if it were raspberry, citrus, or whatever else. I’m a very loyal David’s Teas drinker, so I’ll just say that this tea isn’t for me… which is too bad seeing as I have an entire pitcher of it in the refrigerator. If anyone wants the remainder of of the bag, please let me know and I’ll gladly send it to you.

Daddyselephant

I’m the same way, Taryn. I adore raspberries and have yet to find a tea that lives up to that taste. Most raspberry teas contain hibiscus, which ruins it for me :(

Thanks to Uniquity for the generous sample of this tea. :) it was enjoyably fruity though a bit strong on the honeybush. I think red honeybush and rooibos really do better with more desserty or robust flavors. You need a green honeybush or rooibos for a fruity blend. Whatever raspberry there may have been is completely overwhelmed by base. I taste a bit a lemon grass a vague fruitiness, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you what fruit. Still, it’s not bad. I can drink it. And it allows me to appreciate well thought out blends all the more. :)

Uniquity

I’ve yet to meet anyone who can actually taste raspberry in this…I always expect it will get discontinued, but I think it might be one of the ones that people new to tea like to buy. I was certainly “new” when I first bought it!

Mercuryhime

Well, it’s pleasant enough but not worth rebuying, so I guess you’re probably right. :)

Day 67 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge (and my final backlogged day).

1.5tsp in my teaball, brewed in-cup.

You know the saying “where’s the beef”? Well, with this tea, it’s more like where’s the raspberry? The tea itself isn’t bad at all, but while raspberry makes me think of a succulent, tart, juicy sweetness, all I get from this tea that is remotely like this is a hint of fruity sweetness. The predominant flavour is the citrus. Which, while nice, does not seem to match the raspberry-inspired name.

And it looks like this tea just got discontinued, so I’m glad I tried it when I did! I hope if they try creating a raspberry flavour again, they put more effort into making it, well, more raspberry-y.

This finally got discontinued? Praise the tea gods! : )

Kittenna

How do people find out that teas are discontinued?!

Uniquity

Usually staff bring it up when I’m in store, especially if I am considering getting some more or talking about it.

C-chan

I went and looked for the tea online, and it didn’t exist. While I’ve not heard any official announcements, I’d at least have no problems inferring that this implies the tea is discontinued. ;)

Dry note: Hint of sweetness
Wet Notes: I could only smell rooibos

Unfortunately this tea is one of my least favourites just because I can barely taste the raspberry and all I can taste is rooibos. The ratio of additives to tea is probably a bit off.

The smell comes off a lot different than expected. I feel like if you put this under my nose while I was blindfolded, I would think that this is more of a herbal tea (I guess it’s the honeybush and lemongrass). Even with honeybush and lemongrass, I hardly taste those…maybe a bit, but not enough to tell the ingredients apart.

I really want to try this iced before I come to a conclusion, but I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference. Rooibos is a hit or miss with me…but I am starting to like it a bit more.

What I taste is definately not raspberry but it’s still good.

Ellyn

What do you taste?

Mélissa

Sugary rooibos, lemon(extract? like cough drops?) and blurred out fruits. My tastebuds just don’t know.

Ellyn

At least it is still good! In some tea the fruit flavors get all mixed.
