I enjoy coffee, but don’t want it to dictate my life and never want to feel like I “need” it. One of the main reasons why I’m an avid tea drinker. This is a great option for people like me. It has the coffee smell and taste, but with a lot of mocha and vanilla, almond flavors thrown in. It is tasty like coffee, but very smooth and without the bitter aftertaste. I like mine with sugar and milk. It’s definitely a nice alternative to a morning cup of coffee.

For someone who hates coffee, I was pleasantly surprised to love this! I added cream and sugar and it’s delicious. A surprisingly good combination of tea and coffee in one cup.

Cold Brew Sipdown (530)!

It’s a bit of a relief finishing off a DT blend; they’re beginning to take up quite a large chunk of my cupboard – and I mean, I work there so that only makes sense but still, this is one I have no desire to hoard in the long term.

I added some vanilla creamer to this cold brew and the result was actually pretty good – and I say that as someone who does not like coffee. It was smooth though, and very rich with a velvety sweet almond undertone. What it largely reminded me of was the pre-bottled Starbucks “Mocha” Frappacino things that you can buy from like any convenience store. Mostly they’re like milk and sugar, but with a very mild coffee taste. Coffee with training wheels, if you will. That’s exactly what I need.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I love this one mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with Birthday Cake for a cup of tiramisu or 3/4 coffee puerh with 1/4 lapsang for a cup that is reminiscent of Butiki’s Coffee and Cigarettes. I don’t think I ever drink it straight!

Ooh – thanks for the suggestions! Eventually I’ll have to try both, as both sound like good ways to switch up the coffee flavour! :)

I love this tea. It’s my go-to ever since I started trying to ditch actual coffee (ongoing process!). I try to always keep some of this in my cupboard because it’s such a comforting morning tea for me. It’s creamy and delicious, just like coffee but without any added nonsense.

Sleep has been a very difficult thing for me lately, which doesn’t work well with my 7AM work schedule. Here lately, I’ve been loading up on the espresso shots, but I thought I would give this tea a try for my morning coffee fix.

It certainly didn’t have the stimulation of a 6-shot flat white, but the “coffee” flavor was there. Of course, this is nothing like real coffee. Imagine those cheap french vanilla powdered coffees that they sell in tins at the grocery store. The vanilla flavor is extremely strong, almost too strong. Though the website says that the nutty flavor is almond, it tastes more like hazelnut to me.

I can’t taste the puerh base at all, but it colors the liquid black, making me feel like I am drinking coffee. This tea is actually pretty great if you’re looking for cheap flavored coffee without the bitterness, but the flavoring is toeing the line on being too strong for my liking.

Still, the second steep is better. The flavors have mellowed a bit. It might be something I want to keep around.

I had to give up my morning cappuccino because of my sensitive stomach. Sad face. But now I found this beautiful concoction that brews strong and thick and mixes well with milk, and my day is saved. It’s a bit off putting at first, all these strong flavours that I’m not normally drawn to, but in the end, it’s almost perfect.

Tried this out today after my shipment came in. I may have steeped it too long anyway. The dry leaves definitely smell like coffee and a hit of chocolate. The liquor after steeping was dark. Definitely the darkest I’ve seen from a tea. It was kinda bitter on it’s own but I added a teaspoon of sugar and a tablespoon of milk and it tasted better. It was earthy, coffee-tasting, bitter and with the sugar, sweet. I kinda like it. I’ll have to play around with how I brew it. But I think it’s a nice tea for someone who doesn’t like coffee but doesn’t mind bitterness.

Oh my. This smells amazing. I’m probably going to need to add milk to this. I suppose we’re about to find out. :P

Still using my color-changing Yoda mug. Turned it around to see the Alliance’s “vector.” Is that what it’s called?

Ooo, this is creamy in its own right. It has a taste I wasn’t expecting… like hay? What? Yeah, hay or grass. Huh. That’s different. It definitely tastes green. And that’s not because my mug has a background of Degobah. Haha!

I don’t think I’ll need milk for this, but I’ll think on it. The coffee doesn’t come through especially strong. I’m not a huge fan of actual coffee taste, so that’s a good thing. “I’d like just a little coffee with my hot cocoa.” :D
