Pumpkin Creme Brulee

I wanted to try something different this morning, so I brewed this up and added whole milk to see if it emphasized any creamy pumpkin brulee notes. I noticed that several of my other pumpkin teas were even tastier with additives. Sadly, it did not help- it was actually less flavorful unfortunately. It did smell better though- less cinnamon and other spices were breaking through. I brewed it per the bag parameters, but I am going to try it with the tea doubled before I add the milk and see what happens. That might be a project for later today before work if I can swing it because I am really wanting pumpkin today for some reason. :)

Mmmmmm how I have missed this one. I may have to sneak an extra teaspoon for keeps to hold me over until my next butiki teas order. I love everything about this tea. The creaminess, the spices, love it! Perfect latte! And a must try!

Out of the handful of pumpkin teas I’ve tried this one tastes the most like pumpkin pie. It carries a mushy creaminess, a slightly pungent finish, that makes me think of pumpkin or black tea, and even the sensation of sweet rich whip cream. Are you sure this is vegan?

I don’t get creme brulee as much but it has already succeeded where many other teas have clunked out- creating a convincing pumpkin dessert, both in texture and in taste, without going overboard artificial, and still managing to be tea. Thank you BoxerMama for the sample, and Stacy for all the amazing teas!

Edit: This holds up decently to additional steeping, although the cinnamon is more dominant, and my empty cup has the amazing aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and creamy pumpkin.

What could be better than a slice of pumpkin pie? A cup of Pumpkin Creme Brulee to wash it down with that’s what. :)

It smells just like Pumpkin Pie!
Spicy and cozy.
I must say I was dubious of this tea.
I mean, a tea flavored by pumpkin?
But, the scent envelopes you and comforts you.
It smells like Grandma’s house in November.
I burnt my tongue because I could not wait to try it.
Lightly spicy, a smidgen of pumpkin but then the black tea shines through.
Very tasty tea, indeed!

This smells like autumn, spicy with a hint of pumpkin. The dry leaves smell creamier than the brewed tea. The brew is a lovely deep orange color matching the falling leaves outside. It’s got kind of a chai vibe because of the spices, but the pumpkin holds its own. This didn’t seem very creamy at first, but it gets creamier as I keep drinking. There’s also maybe a hint of caramel flavor? Am I imagining that? This is one of those teas that makes me sad that I can’t/shouldn’t have black tea. I’m super glad to have tried it though. haven’t had pumpkin creme brulee before, although i have had sweet potato (which was to die for).

i get the spices and the creaminess, i also get the crisped sugar topping, but i’m not getting as much pumpkin as i’d like. might just be that a longer steep time would work better? of course that was a sample so it won’t happen unless i order some! lol.

still, a very skilled blend…. very smooth and quite complicated to create!

It was actually a tad sunny here this afternoon, so the kids and I played outside. The little man had his jeans on backwards, orange rain boots, and his blue fleece coat on, unzipped with no shirt on underneath. And we played in the front yard for all the world to see. You see, the mailman would be arriving any minute. I had been waiting all day for his arrival. And it was close to 4pm at this point. When we saw him coming, all three of us ran to meet him.

Our mailman is not your average mailman, he’s straight out of sesame street. Knows all the kids names, what’s going on in the neighborhood, loves to chat endlessly. And I normally enjoy it, but today I wanted to grab my package from him and run inside to get tasting. I was as nice as I could be under the circumstances, but my first order from Butiki was in my hands, and I had things to do.

I had a pretty decent selection to choose from, but enjoy flavored black teas in the afternoon, so I went with the pumpkin creme brûlée. Smelled a lot spicier than I expected, but I never tip my nose up to a little extra spice. I steeped it a little longer than the suggested 2.5 mins, but I like my black teas pretty strong. Then I added a very slight amount of brown rock sugar per the websites instructions. I’ve tried brown rock sugar on a number of occaisions, but I just really love raw honey in my tea. So after a few sips trying to drink the tea the “right” way, I caved and added my honey and a splash of steamed milk and a dollop of froth. My first thought as the tea went down, “Holy crap, I just love tea.”

This is a really great flavored black tea. Not perfumey at all, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I love the spice and was surprised at how spicy the tea remained after a second steep (with no milk or honey in the second cup).

This will definitely be taking up residence on my shelf. I can’t wait to try the next one!

CREME BRULEE OMFG! Creme brulee is my fav dessert! My husband made it for me the night he proposed (and a prime rib, barely remember that though)

DRY: Lots of weird orange flakey bits.

STEEPED: brown orange tea, smells of black tea and pumpkin.

TASTE: WHOA! I notice an amazing creamyness right away. Theres a smooth pumpkin taste as well. The black tea is nice too – all perfectly mixed with the other flavors. Very natural tasting pumpkin.
Sweetened with some rock sugar, the creamyness and pumpkin come out more. Also some spice lightly pops out.

WHO’D LIKE THIS: Autumn tea lovers! With all the pumpkin teas out right now for fall, this one is good for someone who loves creamyness! This one also is gently spiced.

COMPARISON: DavidsTea’s Pumpkin Chai – has more spice. Pumpkin tastes a little different and brighter. Black tea base is stronger.
Pumpkin Creme Brulee is less spice, but on the creamy side. IMO, the black tea has a better taste. Pumpkin tastes more natural.

COMMENTS: I dig the creamyness of this tea! Very excellent and the flavors are balanced perfectly!

ARGG, I got so much Pumpkin Chai that I’ve been hesitant to order other pumpkin teas. Pumpkin Creme Brulee is on a slightly different wavelength. I thought it would be more eggy like creme brulee, but still tasty! Either way, very good and I highly recommend this tea… and pretty much all Butiki teas I’ve tried! all sooo good!

I’ve reviewed this previously and am having it again tonight. So delicious. Every time I have it, I like it better and better!
