Pumpkin Creme Brulee

This is the best pumpkin tea I’ve ever had! I don’t know how Stacy does it, but this one has a fabulous natural pumpkin flavor with just a hint of spice. It legitimately tastes like a slice of homemade pumpkin pie in a cup! It even re-steeps nicely. My Black Friday order just keeps growing…Thanks so much to The Cookie Lady for the sample!

Halloween Tea Marathon 7/10

This is a sample from MissB ‘s mystery box. I drank this a week ago and can’t remember much of my thoughts, other than that it was tasty and comforting. I drank it plain, and could taste definite caramel notes as well as the pumpkin ones. There were definite ‘pumpkin’ notes present, rather than just ‘spices sometimes combined with pumpkin’ which is sometimes the case. This makes me a happy Nattie.

I think I will try this with a little brown sugar next time, for a sweeter dessert tea.

Thanks Marzipan for the sample! It seems like you really helped provide me with some good pumpkin teas for Halloween! And, I’m very appreciative of getting a chance to try this soon to be unavailable blend.

I have to say, I did like it but my mind wasn’t blown. I know the general opinion seems to be that this is better than Pumpkin Milkshake, but based on my recollection of that blend (it has been a while…) I think I liked that better. It was more creamy, and I think I tasted the pumpkin just a bit more. This had some really lovely brown sugar and caramel notes to it though that made it feel really rich and decadent, and then with some cinnamon and nutmeg notes on top of that. It felt really Autumn-y. I just wish the pumpkin had’ve been a touch more pronounced.

I do appreciate though that, as far as Pumpkin teas go, this one isn’t heavy handed on the spice. That aspect was just right.

Received a sample of this with my Butiki Teas order. This is a delicious Ceylon blend with creamy notes. I didn’t find it astringent, possibly because I only steeped it for two minutes and thirty seconds (maybe even less). It has a soft creamy flavor that really does remind me of creme brûlée or similar desserts, along with a hint of toastiness (almost like a caramelized sugar crust). The pumpkin is subtle here… I can smell it, but as far as the taste goes I only noticed the pumpkin flavor once I added a little honey to my cup. Even then, it’s still pretty light, just a hint of buttery squash (perhaps because it blended so well with the cream notes). That said, I found this tea to be very smooth and well-balanced. It’s a really sophisticated choice for a fall-inspired blend. The flavors aren’t in-your-face, but they’re delicious all the same. I’m so glad I got to try it!

I’m sad to hear that Butiki Teas is closing, though… I only just discovered the company via the reviews here at Steepster. But I also feel very lucky that I was able to try some of their lovely blends before they sell out.

This sample came from Blodeuyn! I’ve been craving pumpkin spice tea, but the last one I tried was very disappointing. Luckily, I got this sample in our swap and she included a surprise sample of Republic of Tea’s Pumpkin Spice. Yay! Visually, the leaves of this tea are quite lovely. They’re a dark reddish brown and are rather thick, but short. For some reason, the smell of this tea dry reminds me of potpourri… I’m not sure if it’s the cinnamon or what, but it’s an odd association since there’s no floral here. Otherwise it smells like caramel and pumpkin pie spices. I steeped mine at 200 degrees for 2.5 minutes.

Wow, brewed up it smells very pumpkin-y! This makes me happy because a lot of pumpkin teas tend to lean more on the spices and don’t have enough pumpkin flavor. I also smell a bit of caramel sweetness and some malty black tea. Meh, this came out a bit weak for me. I can taste a bit of pumpkin pie spice, but the pumpkin and cream aren’t really there for me. There’s a touch of caramel sweetness. I mostly taste a mellow and slightly astringent black tea base. Even with added milk and sugar, this isn’t pumpkin for me. :(

These leaves are dark and a little shorter than most I’ve come across recently. They smell just like pumpkin pie! The color of the liquor is also a pumpkin color as well. Well played, Stacy :). The taste is pumpkin pie too! Yum!! It is less sweet than pumpkin pie, but I enjoy that. The flavor is also very creamy, but I don’t get that caramelized sugar taste that I associate with crème brûlée. Still, I’m not at all upset with creamy pumpkin pie tea!

Small Big Traveling Tea Box

Oh, sweet Thanksgiving! My gosh. So this year was the first year that I have tried pie:P It never appealed to me as a kid but my boyfriend loves it and has been trying to get me to try it for ages now. And this year I caved. And what on earth was I waiting for?? Pie is so gosh darn delicious! Oh man. My two favorite pies-apple and pumpkin. And this tea is a lovely rendition of pumpkin pie. Cinnamon and pumpkin and creaminess, oh my! . And I swear, the tea even has a rich, creamy texture to boot. Mm.

I won’t lie, at first, I thought this tea was very ordinary, and I was a bit disappointed BUT after having it a few times, I have completely fallen in love with it. It’s the perfect pumpkin spice flavour, with a nice creaminess. I drink it everyday now, with rock sugar and a bit of milk and I have to restrain myself from drinking like 5 cups of it in one day.

Mmm cinnamon pumpkin tea….yes I am a little late with trying this one but on this wet spring day it certainly hits the spot.

Umm, I think I like this one just slightly better than Pumpkin Milkshake, but I can’t really explain why. I’ll see if I can figure that out with another steep. Might make one in one tumbler and one in the other for a side my side.
