From 52teas

If you’re going to buy only one holiday tea this season, it should be this one. Sure, I love all my holiday creations, but this one is amazing and it may very well be my favorite tea I’ve created yet. It’s so good!

To create this tea, I started with Laoshan teas from Verdant Tea. They are naturally very rich and flavorful with a natural cocoa-y flavor to them which enhances the chocolate flavors of this tea. Then I added organic, all-natural flavors, organic roasted cacao nibs, cacao shells, mini vegan chocolate chips, organic peppermint leaves from Washington State, organic marshmallow root and a whole lotta love and respect for the leaf. The result is a cuppa yum! This is the tea Santa wants left out for him when he gets to your house!

Ingredients: black teas, organic peppermint leaves, organic cacao nibs, cacao shells, mini vegan chocolate chips, organic marshmallow root and organic, all-natural flavors.

This sipdown brings me back down to 49. Most excellent. I enjoyed this a lot in the beginning but grew tired of it near the end, but that’s all me. I’ve noticed a pattern, that blends with cacao shells have been rubbing my tastebuds the wrong way, and I’m fairly certain it’s due to my cacao shell obsession 3-4 years ago. I’m still not over that, apparently. I think it’s not only a flavour thing, but a textural thing. Cacao shells yield a slightly dusty, grainy liquor, and with each sip, I’m transported back to slamming back mug after mug like a boss while sitting on my ass for 16 hours a day writing papers, marking exams, extracting data, etc. Let’s hope that someday, I’ll get over that psychological hurdle and love cacao shells again.

Sil

Woohooo! I’m finally lower than you! Though not for long I’m sure

That is seriously incredible! Way to be, darling. :D

I am sipping on a cup of this – an effort to relax after a very hectic week of getting the 12 Teas of Christmas boxes on their way.

I made a couple of changes to the recipe this year – I still used the Laoshan teas from Verdant – but I also added just a little bit of Assam to the blend to fill out the base flavors a little bit. The malt and the strength of flavor from the Assam helped give the Laoshan teas just a little more – something.

I also added some vegan white chocolate chips to the blend because I wanted a little more creaminess to the cup. I don’t know how much difference the little bit of white chocolate chips added to the cup, really, it gave a pretty almost marshmallow like appearance to the dry leaf which is nice – maybe a touch more of a creamy vanilla taste?

Nice cool, crisp flavor from the peppermint – lovely chocolate notes. Still one of my favorites that I’ve created thus far.

So excited for this one!

Sipdown! I can see why 52teas is bringing this blend back for the holidays this year. It has a rich chocolate flavor with a minty undertone and slight creaminess. Adding rice milk really clinches the hot cocoa flavor, though it does drown out the mint. Pretty darn yummy.

So…this. is. AMAZING. Seriously, sooo sooo good!!! And I need MOAR!!!! Alas, there is no more left to buy or else I would be stocking up. Though the awesome Sil did give me enough for at least on more cup and for that I am super grateful!

From scent to sip, this is exactly what the name implies, peppermint marshmallows melting in hot chocolate. Its minty fresh without being overly herbal and yet sweet and creamy from the marshmallow root. There is an overall fluffiness that helps sell the whole idea. Add to that the perfectly rich chocolatey base and you have a winner!!

Sil, I can’t thank you enough for sharing this with me as I am loving it.

omg. can i give you the rest of mine?

It might be Spring somewhere, but perhaps not here. Snow continues to blanket the ground and now cold cold rain is pelleting down. The sore throat that has been rasping away for a week now just might be turning into something even more wicked and the clock has sprung forward.

This may not be the day for the laundromat outing.

I shopped in my stash for something tempting to help me let go of the tea that I’ve been haunted by for the past week and lookie what came up! (Maybe not real shopping in my stash because this was not an unopened packet but rather in a different bin than my usual go-to and focus teas.)

Just when other steepster threads have been discussing whether Anne has experimented with marshmallow and oolong! And yes, steepster-ites have been hinting that this may be a good idea.

Mint is not one of my favourite things, but this blend is. Pillows of marshmallow and gentle chocolate and just the right amount of peppermint. Yes indeed.

Kawaii433

No to mints unless it’s with chocolate. This sounds good. <3

derk

The clock sprang forward?! Whoops.

Evol Ving Ness

yeah, this one is pretty fab (despite beginning to age, some might say already aging.)

Yes, the clock sprang forward here in EST, perhaps not in other places. Thankfully, all my things readjust themselves. Me, well, that’s another matter.

tea-sipper

It’s good you mention marshmallow oolong in your post… Anne might have a better chance of seeing it if it’s on a 52Teas blend. :D

Nattie

You had me so confused, I had to double-check that the clocks hadn’t gone forward here yet haha. I had no idea it was different dates around the world!

52Teas

please note: If you want me to pick up hints on trying certain flavors with certain tea bases, it helps bunches to actually put those hints in tasting notes of 52Teas’ teas because they are the tasting notes that I read. I wish I had the time to read all the other tasting notes out there, but I seldom do. I used to take the time to do that when I was a reviewer because I was kind of “shopping” back then for teas that I should try. Now, I don’t have a lot of time to sample teas other than my own and the occasional Matcha (so I do read most of the pure Matcha tea taste notes when they appear in my feed) – and I will also occasionally read the tasting notes of pure or orthodox (unflavored) teas to see if there is something I’d like to try to potentially use it as a base. So – simply put, I am more likely to read something you’d like me to blend/reblend if you post it in tasting notes of one of my teas. I can’t guarantee that I will actually blend or reblend what you mention in a tasting note but I’m far more likely to if you post it on a tasting note of one of my teas. :)

tea-sipper

100% understand! I was pondering if you had made a marshmallow oolong in my tasting note yesterday for ESP Emporium’s Japan Genmaicha (which I thought to combine with a milk oolong — it is delicious, even with old teas). I knew you would never see my tasting note and question as I was writing it(I was mainly asking others if you had made a marshmallow oolong).

52Teas

Winter Treat has some marshmallow root: banana, cinnamon, marshmallow root and rum essence with a charcoal roasted tieguanyin.

tea-sipper

Oooo… I didn’t know about winter treat!

AMAZING! No more words needed.

Wow, really? I’m assuming this is one of the new blends? EXCITING.

Sil

christmas kickstarter tea.

TeaTiff

I really like mint chocolate teas, so this was really right up my ally. I could taste the cocoa notes from LB and then the mint blended with it for me was pretty awesome.

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 306)

Another new packet opening! I believe I have a silver foil 2oz pouch of this tucked away still, as well. This isn’t my typical favourite flavour combo, but the base here makes it much more enjoyable. It’s rich and chocolatey, without an overwhelming amount of mintiness. Better in the winter, though.

This is a tasty cup for sure. I ended up having a session of this with my mom while my niece was over.
The peppermint isn’t full leaf so it’s hard to measure it out to have what 52Teas intended a serving to have in it. I believe I had a decent portion in everything that I used to steep with. The chocolate and malt notes compliment each other as they should, while the peppermint is the background noise of the conversation. While I don’t see any sweetness to associate with marshmallow, I’ll the name of the tea and acknowledge that this is something I enjoyed drinking.
This can be resteeped for a lightly malted black tea with a nice finish for your less than boiled water that has been set aside; thus, you can compare the fully blended cup to a partial for the base within the blend.

tea123

Is this black tea?

Liquid Proust

The base is a black tea mixture, yes.

tea123

Thanks. That last sentence had me really confused.

Liquid Proust

I was just saying the first steep is more of a blended tea while the second steep is more of a straight (as in the items used in the blend start to vanish in regards to their added tasting notes)

I cut the water and bumped up the amount of tea this time around to see if I could really concentrate the flavor. Boy, it worked! This legitimately tastes like a hot chocolate with marshmallows. I can even taste a hint of peppermint. It’s just enough. Best cup yet.

OMG, this needs to be perma collection! I’d be sad to see this tea not for sale until next Christmas, it is really good!

This tea is dessert tea heaven, minty and chocolate and marshmallowy over a nice smooth tea base. The chocolate is milky and pairs awesomely with everything!

My only beef with this tea is it’s a little tricky to steep just right. If you over leaf or over steep it is too pepperminty and you lose all the chocolate flavor. You also want to shake the bag well as if you get too much goodies you’ll get a watery cup. That said, I liked the parameters I list, and it took a couple tries to get it right.
