Malted ChocoMaté

Yum. I forgot how much I did actually like this one! I’d been put off it for a while thanks to a bad water experience, and of course, I already had bought my 8 oz. or so of it. Anyways, it was great in my travel mug, as expected, and will now be put into my morning travel mug rotation! Hopefully that will use a good bit of it up, since I’ve only successfully swapped out one 2 oz. package of it so far :(

Anyhow, I can’t recall if I’ve ever tried this sweetened with a bit of milk/cream, but I should. Malt just seems to scream out for that sort of thing. That said, it’s great plain, with enough sweetness to be quite enjoyable (which is why I stocked up on it in the first place!)

made a half cup of tea, steeped about 9 min, iced it down, and stirred in about 3 scoops vanilla ice cream (too lazy to bother with blender). MMMM tastes very chocolatey and malty – I think the vanilla is bringing both out nicely.

I’ve got maybe one more serving to go after this one. I will miss you malted chocomate. I was thinking of getting more, but I have decided that life (and money) is too short to go around repeating teas unless they are a particularly delicious Earl Grey (:P) Considering that basically every time I receive the 52teas newsletter I want what’s in it…it’s time to seize the day! or the tea! That’s right! (are you ready for it?

Carpe Tea-em!

I’m not sure I should be drinking this right now (slight stomachache) but I could NOT resist any longer!

The smell of the dry leaves in the bag is absolutely incredible, chocolate-y goodness. I did steep this at around 180 F (who knows what the optimal temperature for mate is?)

I really wanted the malted milk ball experience so I added soymilk and a touch of turbinado sugar to this. OMG! This is so good. I am really getting the chocolate here which is rare for me and chocolate teas. I’m also getting a hint of the malt and the whole thing is just melting into my mouth like a really yummy dessert. I hope I don’t go bouncing off the walls anytime soon due to all the caffeine in this. What a big spanking cup of yum! YUM! :)

I always wake up craving tea; less often craving a specific flavor. But CHOCOMATE was imprinted on the inside of my eyelids today. Needed a strong and obvious chocolate fix and this is the only tea that will do it speedily and efficiently.

Interestingly, I added 3 teaspoons of coconut milk, thinking I’d come up with a sort of latte thing, and it didn’t do much to affect the flavor either way.

Sipdown! Finally worked my way through two bags of this stuff, and I’m ready for a break now. I do like having a mate to drink on a morning — I really think it helps to wake me up. I’ve got one more 52 Teas mate blend in my cupboard at the moment (Inscape, I believe) so I’ll have a little break from mate and then start that one. It’s strange, because at one point I didn’t think I’d be able to drink mate at all. The smell was just too weird. Flavoured, though, we get along fine. I’ve enjoyed this one, on the whole. I wouldn’t say I get “malt” from this so much, although maybe I’m just over familiar with it now. Definitely chocolate, though. Deep, dark chocolate. Not a sad sipdown, as I’ve had so much of it, but a fond farewell all the same!

Lowering my rating for this one…I just can’t seem to get a consistent result with this. Sometimes it’s over the top delicious, but other times it’s a bit like a watered down coffee. Hmmm….maybe it’s something I’m doing wrong. In any case, I’m lowering my rating to make sure I don’t buy it again.

Woke up wanting Malted ChocoMate again yesterday morning after just having had it yesterday. Yes, I’m happy to have more of it! Today it was even more malty and delicious than yesterday. Don’t know what I did differently. But yum! I had the first cup with breakfast (buttered wheat cinnamon raisin toast and a berry Greek yogurt) and the second cup directly afterward.

2nd steep: 10 mins.

…yeaaaah i’m pretty sure i mostly don’t like mate lol. Glad to have tried this but the rest will be in to the swap box!

This is another tea MissB dropped off tonight (yay!!!), and is the only reason I have not fallen asleep in my chair yet. Oh, it was so good. I just steeped it in water and had it plain. Yes, it’s quite thin, but I really liked the flavours. I made my BFF try it, and she liked it too. Might have to give her the rest of MissB’s sample, since I do have a reblend coming my way (again, through MissB. She’s amazing, yet SUCH an enabler.).
