We are getting ready to celebrate our company’s 24 Anniversary! I am in charge of marketing, so needless to say, I am swamped at work once again! Thankfully I enjoy being busy, sadly I miss my sleep. I decided that this tea would make a great morning tea for this week!
I had this tea only once before, and it struck me as fairly average. It didn’t work the magic I had expected it to. It has been quite a while from this last time, the tea has settled and it has become much better!
The dry tea definitely has a malted chocolate ball smell to it. It is more malty than chocolatey and there is a definite mate roastiness to the scent. I really like it.
The resulting cup of tea, in my opinion, must be sweetened to obtain full chocolate effect. It is indeed a very good malted chocolate flavored tea. There is no bitterness to it. The first flavor to hit is chocolate and maybe a hint of vanilla. The maltiness follows. And then, surprisingly, I taste a tiny bit of fruitiness, maybe a hint of banana. Odd, but tasty!
I really am enjoying my ritual of morning Malted Chocolate Mate! It has gotten me this far in my busy week! Hopefully it will pull me through Saturday as well (I have to work weekends this week… The only part I don’t love about my job!)
I swear someone said they had tried it iced! I thought it sounded really strange, but now that you’re mentioning ‘milkshake’… (All I can think of is Fuddrucker’s Chocolate Malt milkshakes, or whatever they were! Where it didn’t even all fit into one glass! Yum!)
oh yeeeah Fuddruckers! Dang I miss them. I miss Ruckers too! I spent a lot of money there as a child lol – I would do it again!
This so appeals to me, except the Mate part. How does that come out in this tea?
Ah good question – I’ll be honest with you, the mate flavour is pretty prominent. It’s extremely well blended and flavoured that it doesn’t stand out, however it’s definitely an integral part of the taste!
I’m confused…banana??
