I think this is pretty good but I’m not getting much s’mores from this. It’s a tasty chai but I don’t really get any marshmallow or chocolate or graham. It’s more of a sweeter chai. It’s not bad. It’s just not s’mores. There was only one sample size left so this is out of the box.
I just don’t get the s’mores aroma from the spices alone or the chai… My first infusion was, a good chai, yes, but not the s’mores I expected. So of course, I set out to brew it properly with milk and a pinch of sugar.. It is a lovely chai. Its best features are a spicey smokiness, and a suggestive hint of chocolate.
So, I just made a second infusion with only a touch of milk, and some brown sugar, and I gotta say it’s better that way. I also happened to want a tea biscuit or two ( you know the simple little rectangle yummies )… I dipped the biscuit into the tea and let it saturate it, FREAKING YUM. I kinda wish I had not done that, because now I want more. Try it :)
I love s’mores and tend to dislike chai, so this was an interesting one to try. The smell is very distinctive — not quite chai, not quite marshmallows, and not really a combination of the two, just… distinctive. In a good way!
The liquor tastes like a weak chai… which is not a complaint in and of itself. Most chai is far too spicy for me, but this one is at just the right level for me to notice the spices without feeling overwhelmed… although I would prefer less peppercorn and more cinnamon. Sadly, I’m not really getting much s’more taste, even sweetened. There’s maybe a hint of graham crackers when I search for it, but overall it feels like it’s trying very hard and failing to be something besides a plain chai.
Overall, yay for being chai that I enjoy smelling and drinking, boo for being only barely s’more-esque.
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, and I’ve had bad luck with chais. I was especially skeptical after sniffing the bag. Straight after brew it was a little strong flavored, but still “watery,” of course. I sort of expected that and added just a drop of cream. Still missing something, so I broke down and put a touch of sugar in it. First off, not my norm. I’m sure there are people out there who can drink this tea straight and appreciate it, but I just couldn’t take it. With cream and sugar? YUM. Warm and spicy, overtones of mallow and graham, and just a whiff of smoke. A perfectly delectable treat on a chilly afternoon. Just what I wanted.
I just couldn’t stay away from this one this morning. The lapsang souchong has mellowed out enough so that it’s not quite so overpowering. I don’t really know what it was that drew me back to this tea, as it’s not exactly my favorite… but I knew I was in the mood for something a little rich, and this fits that bill, certainly. Maybe I was also looking for that bit of sweetness that the marshmallow root brings to the table. I still can’t taste as much of the spices as I’d like. I even sweetened it more than usual, and they just aren’t really coming through. That’s why this has got the rating it’s got.
I love the concept of this tea – s’more tea with spices? Ohhh yeah!
This chai is moderately spicey with plenty of cardamon, ginger and clove. The entire blend has a sweet marshmallow essence, with a bit of chocolate. It is like the chai is the focus, with the bonus of smores! I could see this one being great as a latte. Personally, I don’t like cardamon too much, I wish had nutmeg instead (says the weirdo who shaves on too much nutmeg on her hot chocolates and tea lattes)

Ever burned your marshmallow and then decide to make a s’more out of it anyway? Yeah…that’s what this particular cup tasted like – all smoke and singe without the sweetness of marshmallow or the pastry of graham cracker to back it up.
I brewed it up to take to class this morning and I must admit I’m rather disappointed in the whole mess. Perhaps others have had better luck with the blend, but it’s just not the tea for me.
I was excited about this tea. How could it get better? S’mores AND chai!
First steeping is a bit disappointing. Nothing terrible. Nothing outstanding. I would drink it, probably make a good morning tea.
Now to add some milk and sugar… nothing spectacular. Hope I find the right mix since I bought two bags.
