The problem with Anne’s subscription box is that there’s always a tea or two in it that I like so much that I end up annihilating it in a day or two. My tasting notes for these teas end up being a repetitive “I don’t know what happened but tea is gone now, but I’m pretty sure I loved it.”
That’s this tea, the latest Strawberry Shortcake tea (RIP too good for this world), Anne’s Breakfast Blend (I refuse to believe it’s gone; I’m sure if I dig deep enough there’s one serving left of it in the back of the cupboard), and many, many more that I consumed too quickly I never properly learned their names.
What many of these teas seem to have lately in common is a delicious, velvety black tea base (blend) that verges on chocolate-y, perfect levels of vanilla, and some combination witchcraft/alchemy. Sometimes there’s also amaranth, which is apparently Crowkettle catnip (not present here, but the rest of the delicious traits are).
This tea in particular is one I’d never pick it out for myself; my distrust of cocoa nibs is too strong. But Anne makes me taste chocolate coconut cake instead of dirt so now I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need to buy more right now. Life is full of these little challenges.
