This is AMAZING. I am in utter love with this tea and will definitely have to make this a staple of my tea cupboard. WOW.

This is a dark oolong, and the flavor is nice and heavy, tasting faintly like coffee, but not overly so – which is good because I HATE the taste of coffee. The flavor starts off subtle, and then gets darker and reminds me of roasted coffee beans. And then turns slightly bitter just before I swallow. SO GOOD.

Sample from chrimabro – Thanks, Christina!

This is a delicious oolong. It is very green and fresh, with a really deep flavor. It tastes almost woody, but not a dry woody but the fresh smell of a live branch you snap that’s still green on the inside.

Sample from chrimabro. Thanks, Christina!

I’m normally a bit meh on fruit teas and this was no exception. The tea steeped for 1.5 minutes, and it was a lovely red-purple color from the berries. It smelled delicious.

Flavor wise, rather bland. The berries were very very subtle and I could barely taste them if I really concentrated. This may have been better with some sugar but I’m loathe to add sugar to tea that is actually made from Camellia sinensis because I want to taste the tea – unfortunately, this fruit masked the tea, and the tea watered down the fruit so neither was strong enough to taste.

It was still drinkable, and I did finish my mug, but I did not resteep it. I probably won’t buy this myself after the sample’s gone.

Supposedly there is apple flavoring in here. I can’t really taste it though. Brewed for 6 minutes but I could not drink it without some sugar added. It was pretty bland without it. (One day I will find a rooibos that I can drink without doctoring it…)

With the sugar, however, the apple came out a bit, especially at the bottom of the mug where I guess the sugar accumulated. And the last few sips were absolutely delicious, and reminded me of a baked cinnamon apple. Yummy. Just a bit unhappy about how much sugar is needed to bring out that flavor. (I’m drinking this stuff for its health properties, and adding sugar seems to defeat the purpose for me.)

drank Plum Green Tea by Ten Ren

This is a sweet tea – a very sweet tea. The first few sips are almost overly sweet but once my taste buds got used to it, the flavor mellowed out and turns slightly salty (did you know plums are salted in Chinese culture?) so it tastes almost like the salted plums I had as a child – salty sweet.

Unfortunately, as a tea, it tastes weird. I’m not sure if I’ll buy this again.

Thanks chrimbro for the sample!

I was a bit apprehensive about this because I thought the Monkey-Picked Oolong Christina had sent me was practically tasteless, especially considering how expensive the tea is. This tea is not quite as expensive but still on the steeper side and I would have never bought this on my own.

The flavor was much better than the supposedly “highest quality” Monkey-Picked but IMO not worth the price. I’ve had better oolongs frvom the Asian market that were a fraction of a fraction of the price of this oolong.

However, ignoring the price and value of the oolong given the price, this is a tasty tea. The flavor is not nearly as subtle as I would have liked or expected, but it’s drinkable and pleasantly so.

The Monkey-Picked Oolong I sent you is much older than this one. (Over a year old, I think… eek. This one I got about a month ago) That might have contributed to it’s less than stellar taste.

This is a really nice iced tea.

2:1 ratio of tea to sugar.
8 tsps of tea; 4 tsps of rock sugar in my 32 oz Mist Iced Tea Jug from DAVIDsTEA.

It’s not overly sweet and the fruits all blend together. If I concentrate, I can tease apart the different flavors (mango, papaya, and citrus) but they work really well. Papaya is definitely the strongest and easiest to detect flavor but the mango and citrus are definitely there.

Refreshing. I don’t think I’d like this hot very much, but iced, it is definitely a winner.

This is a great rooibos that I blend with flavored teas. It is especially great with black teas. It makes those overly fruity/flavored blends taste better – it tones down the other flavors to a palatable level for me, and adds its own something in the process. I haven’t tried it by itself.

This isn’t my favorite rooibos. The almond flavor tastes very subtle. It’s not unpleasant, but I wish the flavor is stronger. Maybe some cream would help? I did add in sugar but maybe more?

Steeped for 3 minutes.
The dried tea smelled delicious. Very fruity. The tea itself was a bit lacking in flavor but a bit of sugar helped bring that out. It’s nice but not one of my first choices for tea. I think this would make amazing iced tea.

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: Oolong, almond, coconut, peach
Hate: Ginger
