F is for…Fruit Salad Lemonade

This is my second cold brew of the day. Turns out F was another fun letter with a lot of teas to choose from.

This steeped a nice purple because of the butterfly pea flower. This has a generic sweetness and some lemon to it. It doesn’t scream fruit to me, or at least one specific fruit. Perhaps that’s the point though.

Latte Sipdown (272)

F is for…Forever Nuts

I had gotten some teabags of this tea as samples in my various DAVIDsTEA orders and while I have not enjoyed this in a really long time, I wanted to make a latte with it since I know it can get very pink and fun and was intrigued.

It looks cute. It tastes like Forever Nuts. It’s better as a latte I think but not actually to my tastes anymore. I don’t know why it throws me off but something my my brain just took a disliking to this.

F is for…Forged from the Stars

My brother-in-law and I are separately rewatching the MCU movies in chronological order. It’s hard for us to watch them together because typically my sister is home and she has no interest in the MCU whatsoever and refuses to let us watch. However, today was an odd day where my sister had to actually go to work in person so my brother-in-law finally got caught up on the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We then were debating what to watch so I asked where he’d gotten in the rewatch and he said he just finished Iron Man 2. Same for me so Thor was next and how convenient that it worked out that we are watching Thor on the same day the Thor-inspired blend matches the letter of the alphabet.

Anyways, I brewed a cup to drink while watching the movie. It’s a weird nutty chocolate tea though and I’m not sure how it reflect the God of Thunder. Not really sure where they are going here. And taste wise, it’s cooled a little and is becoming a touch astringent. Alright, a lot astringent which is making the nuttiness come off kind of strange. I have more of this and will need to revisit because this wasn’t the best.

Courtney

We are also doing this! Enjoy! :)

VariaTEA

What movie are you on? I would be much further but I just keep rewatching the Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes

Courtney

Hahah! I have been re-watching Thor Ragnarok over and over, but we also binged WandaVision this weekend. Technically, we just finished Endgame, but then I went back to Thor between haha.

VariaTEA

LOVE Ragnarok! It’s hard to watch the first Thor now that we have awesomely funny Thor vs Shakespeare Thor in the first two movies

Courtney

Right? Thor is my favourite! Lex watched the Falcon & Winter Soldier episodes yesterday and I need to catch up. I just don’t want to turn off Thor!

Courtney

Also, I am SO EXCITED for Loki I’m not sure how I’ll survive until 11-June.

VariaTEA

The new trailer dropped for Loki and it looks soooo good! All the Disney+ shows have been so awesome. Also I’m so sad about them pushing back it’s release. We were supposed to have new marvel content each week for all of 2021 and Loki was supposed to start after TFATWS and now we’ll have nothing for months :(

VariaTEA

Also Thor was my favourite and still is one of my favourites. I think Ragnarok is still my favourite movie. I’ve been on a Captain America and Bucky kick lately though. Also Sam and Bucky in TFATWS is delightful so I just watch the show over and over again.

Courtney

I know! How are we meant to survive an extra month?! I’ve been watching and re-watching both trailers haha! And some other YouTube videos analyzing the trailers haha.

Courtney

Thor is my all-time favourite as well. Lexa flips between Thor and Captain America. Have you watched WandaVision? I was really impressed!

VariaTEA

I have and I loved it. I am in the group of people that found the finale a little underwhelming tbh but I think that’s because every other episode ended on such a high. I appreciated that it dealt with the emotional stuff well and wrapped things up nicely if there isn’t a second season.

F is for…Flowering Feng Qing Tea Cones

This is almost smokey today. Should it be? I have no clue. I don’t think so. I don’t mind it though because it’s a gentle smoke atop a smooth black tea.

F is for…Fall Carnival Apple

I cold brewed this and it’s a weird one. It tastes like sweetened apple chips. It also has an artificial note to it. Not sure what to make of it.

E is for…Elevenses

This was a sample in my Happy Turtle Tea order. I might have forgotten to set a timer when I steeped this though and I’m hoping it’s underleafed otherwise it’s a little bland. It’s supposed to be an oolong with berry flavours but mostly I just get a slight oolong flavor.

Stove Top Latte Sipdown (274)

E is for…Earl Grey Masala Chai

All the effort of making this on the stovetop and its just not very good. I am picky about chai and earl grey and so the combination of the two didn’t really speak to me. Probably why it took all day for me to start drinking teas in general…not really enthused about my “E” teas.

The top is a brisk bergamot flavor. It is reading potpourri to me. Potpourri and cardamom should not be friends. Vahdam tried to make that happen and its not for me.

AJRimmer

That’s such an interesting flavor combination! I’ll have to look out for a blend that pulls it off well!

VariaTEA

I think I have had it twice now. The other was an earl grey masala chai matcha by Three 6 Tea

Tiffany :)

Haha, I don’t like earl grey but I love chais (cardamom is one of my favorite ingredients in general)! :D

drank Hot Cross Buns by A Quarter to Tea

Happy Easter!!! I found a tea to celebrate with…

As Kittena said D is not for…Hot Cross Buns

This is one of the oldest teas in my cupboard, along with Hummingbird and Lemon Poppyseed Muffin. They are the teas I am hoarding from AQ2T since they are favorites. Part of this makes me a little nervous each time I have a cup because I worry it won’t be as good as I remember. Thankfully, it is.

This tea is so bready and delicious but with the most accurate lemon glaze flavor. I have never had Hot Cross Buns but if this is any representation of what they taste like, I know I would be a fan. Sweet. Sticky. Ooey. Gooey. Hot. Fresh. Bread. With. Lemon. YUM!

Kittenna

Hahahaha. This would have been a great tea to have today! I’m annoyed I didn’t think of it, but I don’t think I want a big, fresh cup of caffeine this late at night.

Also, super impressed that these are among the oldest in your cupboard. I basically consider them to still be pretty fresh, which they are compared to the rest of my AQ2T, Butiki, and much of my DT stuff. In fact – I believe I may have the original TOTM packages of at least one (Hummingbird), if not all three of these. Heh.

Sipdown (276)

D is for…Darling Blend Herbal Tea

I was sad that I haven’t really done an Easter tea though as a Jewish person and a student coming into exams, Easter doesn’t really feel like anything in our house today.

I guess this could be my Easter-ish tea since it is a chocolate blend of sorts. That said, it really is more Valentine’s Day if anything since it is chocolate and rose and called “Darling” blend. Flavorwise, it is Valentine’s as well since you definitely get equal parts rose and chocolate. Chocolate up front with a floral rose aftertaste that sort of gives way to the slightest lingering pepper from the honeybush base. One of my favorite blends was a rose blend (Des Roses et Des Bonbons by Camellia Sinensis which is discontinued now) but it had a sweet rose flavor and this is not that – this is more like someone was adding rose perfume to this since its more floral and perfume-y than it is sweet. I will finish the cup but I don’t really need more of this.

Bio

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
