6444 Tasting Notes
I have had this before multiple times and to me it tastes as close to chocolate cake as one can get in a tea. However today I made it in a teapot for the first time and I think I either understeeped it or did not use enough leaves because it came out tasting mostly like weak black tea with a chocolate aftertaste.
Preparation
This tea is huge chunks. I bought 25 g and to make 1 small teapot I already used about half the blend. That was a bit disappointing but the tea itself was quite good. It has a similar pink color to Forever Nuts and has a small strong apple cinnamon scent. My roommate said it reminds her of apple cinnamon nutrigrain bars. The flavor is very similar to the smell, actually, so the apple flavor really shines through. I personally enjoy the apple cinnamon nutrigrain bars so naturally I enjoyed this tea so I may pick up more however I don’t know if I would be running out of my way to stock up on this.
Preparation
I was nervous about this tea after reading a lot of the reviews but I already bought it and so I thought I would give it a try. When brewed, it smelled like liquid nutella so that raised my hopes a bit but upon first sip I was definitely not impressed. Something about it seemed almost bitter to me with a hint of chocolate hazelnut. So I decided to start getting ready for the day and I left the tea and hopped into the shower. I spent the time in the shower debating about if I would try the tea again or simply throw it in the swap box. Anyways, by the time I was showered and dressed, this tea had cooled quite a bit and so I tried it again. Surprisingly I find this tea much better cooled as the chocolate hazelnut flavor is more prominent and the bitterness I was tasting in the hot tea was gone. It’s still not my favourite cup but definitely not as bad as I worried it might be.
Preparation
I bought this tea about a month back because I thought it smelled good and because I used to love Cherry Cola but haven’t touched soda since I started dieting over 7 months ago. However, I failed to take into consideration that even when it comes to soda I am very picky with flavor and I definitely do not like it flat so I am not sure why I thought I would enjoy a drink with no carbonation that was made to taste like soda. Unfortunately, I bought 50 g of this because I was new to tea and didn’t know any better. Seeing as I could barely make it through one cup.
I do have it posted on the swap board. I would be happy to send it to someone who might enjoy it but so far there seems to be no interest.
Take a look in my cupboard if you’d like – maybe we can work something out. I don’t think I’d want 50g of it, but I’d be interested in trying some. Anything from Della Terra, DAVIDsTEA, McQuarries, and Tea Desire I have in large quantity. Most everything else is just sample sizes, but it doesn’t hurt to ask if you’re interested in one of them.
I am torn. I made this tea in my timolino this morning and a cup of blueberry jam in my steeper and I planned to drink this throughout the day. Then my roommate asked if I wanted to go buy ingriedients for food we are making for a dinner party tomorrow and so this got left behind and somehow on our adventures we wound up at David’s tea. I bought teas from the Winter Collection and some holiday teas and of course as soon as I got home started brewing some of my new teas for my roommate and I to try. Then our power went out so we went wandering around the city in search of something to pass the time and some food to eat. Once again my timolino got left behind. When I came back and found my timolino filled with still warm lime gelato I was so tempted to drink it but I am not sure how wise having caffeine at 10:30 at night would be. So I am sitting with a full 16 oz timolino of lime gelato unsure as to whether I should drink it and enjoy the delicious flavor and deal with the caffeine effect or not.
I got to try a bit of this today because David’s tea had testers of this and Ceylon Star. I was a little hesitant because I was unsure how I felt about chili in teas but it was very muted. I liked this tea enough that I was on the fence about buying it but in the end I chose not to so I guess I was not blown away.
It is definitely worth trying out though.
I was so excited to get home and try this tea because something about it really appealed to me. When I got home I realized what…it smells just like David’s Teas Red Velvet Cake. So I figured since I enjoy that I should definitely enjoy this too. However once brewed, although similar, Red Velvet is a bit sweeter and has the delicious hints of white chocolate while this has a stronger taste of tea (this could be due to the fact that the tea was steeped a little longer than usual because I lost power mid-steep) and some hints of fruitiness from the pineapple and cherry. Both are good in their own right but I think I will be sticking to Red Velvet Cake in the future (it also helps that Red Velvet Cake is part of their permanent collection!)
Preparation
This tea smells like blueberry Jam and tastes like blueberry juice. Also it holds up well when resteeped. Not sure if I will be replacing this when I run out because blueberry juice is not necessarily my thing but it is nice to have a cup every now and then.
Preparation
I had this one as a latte when I went in to pick up some of the new collection. The smell of the dry leave didn’t entice me enough to want to buy a whole back but I might need to go back (although I have White Chocolate Peppermint coming from Teavana and maybe that will suffice) because this was great as a latte. It tasted like a frosted mint chocolate from Laura Secord! For those who don’t know what that is it basically tasted minty but with the perfect combination of creamy white chocolate flavor.
I LOVE THIS TEA! It is the first tea I ever got in an 100 g tin and that’s because it is amazing! It smells like vanilla – it could be a candle because it smells so good! The sweetness from the vanilla and sugar are present but not overpowering thanks to the cinnamon and the tea itself. AND WE CAN’T FORGET ABOUT THE GLITTER!! My friends call it sparkly tea and tell me I am like a princess because usually when I drink this I am sitting next to a giant unicorn pillow that a friend won for me at a theme park. All I need is a tiara and I can make my inner child’s dreams come true!
Preparation
haha I think that’s what is interesting about this site – seeing how different people react to the different teas.
We would probably make good swap partners because I imagine we could send the teas we don’t like to each other and the other person would enjoy it :P
Effin autocorrect in ios7. I swear I read it before I hit post and it’s like it is possessed. It should read “I swear it’s like….”. Also, the peanut gallery, stop snickering :p
