6444 Tasting Notes
Well first thing I noticed was the lack of leaf in my bag that so many others have complained about. However, the smell made me overlook that and made me excited to try. It smelled like pumpkin bread or some other delicious fresh baked good.
Once brewed, before even trying the tea I noticed two things:
1. how incredible murky it was – I couldn’t even see the bottom of the cup and
2. the oil sheen on top of the cup that made this tea rather unappealing.
I decided to push passed all that though because if it tastes good, the oil would not bother me. However, the taste, though not bad is not enough to cover the oily mouthfeel I am getting. This is actually the first time I have truly noticed oils in a tea and it is not something I enjoy. Perhaps I can mask the oils if I make it a latte? I think this might find its way into the swap box despite its intoxicating aroma.
Preparation
Once again another delicious sample courtesy of Dexter3657!
This to me tastes a lot like DAVIDs Pumpkin Chai (which I like very much) but with a bit more pumpkin in its taste! To be honest I was expecting this to be far superior to pumpkin chai because of the rave reviews I have read so I was little disappointed that they were so similar (at least to my taste buds). However, there are worse things than being similar to a tea I really enjoy.
Preparation
I was thinking about that while I wrote my review and honestly I do think this one is a bit better (although I can’t quite put my finger on why?), the two are very very similar.
This is yet another sample I received from Dexter3657. I am really trying to power through them and taste them all before I have even more teas to explore.
Anyways, this tea tastes exactly like what you’d think it tastes like. This is white tea with subtle notes of cucumber. Personally, I like bolder flavors but this is definitely a very nice cup of tea when your in the mood for nothing over-the-top or fancy. Thanks Dexter3657!
Preparation
The two teas I have my eye on from TeaCupany are this one and Sweet Potato Pie (which Dexter reviewed). Thanks for reviewing this one: we seem to have pretty similar taste, so I think I’d feel a lot more comfortable placing a TeaCupany order for those two after reading your and Dexter’s reviews.
Glad I could help! Also, Dexter sent me Sweet Cherry from the Teacupany to try so I can let you know how that tastes once I try it myself if you like.
Plus sweet potato pie sounds interesting. I would definitely be interested to hear your thoughts on that once you try it.
This is another sample from Dexter3657 and it is great! I was worried because I could not find brewing instructions anywhere so I just used 1.5 tsp and steeped it in boiling water for 4 min. Mostly because I was making another tea at the same time using those conditions.
Anyways, the cup turned out great! Not as chocolaty as I would have thought it would be but you get the malt for sure. This is definitely one I will be drinking again. Thanks Dexter3657!!
Preparation
I got this tea in the summertime because it smelled amazing! It smelled exactly like fuzzy peaches. Unfortunately, as a hot tea it was far too sweet but as an iced tea it was not sweet enough. Despite trying multiple times to brew this tea in a way that it would be enjoyable, I never quite got it to be what I wanted. It had such potential though.
Yet another sample from Dexter3657 and so far they have all been a hit. Many people recommended I try this tea, especially after I raved about DAVIDsTEA’s Lime Gelato, and I definitely understand why. The two smell almost identical to me and taste very similar. However, what I like about this is it is a rooibos which means no caffeine and it can be enjoyed anytime of day. Something tells me this sample won’t last long and I will be placing a Della Terra order in the near future!!
Preparation
Try orange cream if you like creamsicles heh. Lemon chiffon is good too, but if prefer lime and orange by just a bit more. That lemon lime rooibos, can’t remember what it’s cal led now, isn’t worth it if you really liked lime chiffon…it’s too similar, though the. Try me packs are treat for letting you try it and not have lots heh
Another sample from Dexter3657; I am trying to work through as many as possible before my order arrives tomorrow. Also I am just so excited that I want to try them all tonight!!
Anyways, this is my second tart tea of the day and I actually was not anticipating the tartness so it took my by surprise. Upon the first sip I find this similar to Queen of Tarts by DAVIDs as the hibiscus really shines through but what is interesting about this tea is how once you get past the tart hibiscus there is a complex flavor that is both spiced and sweet. I am definitely getting the cinnamon as well as the fruits (which I at first thought I was tasting apple but now realize it is a more complex flavor profile than that).
Ultimately, I am really enjoying this cup that has something for everyone – tart, spice, and sweet all blend together quite well. Thank you Dexter3657!
ETA: Unfortunately in my freezing apartment if one does not drink the tea within 20 minutes of it being brewed the tea becomes ice cold. On the plus side, this has now taught me that I really enjoy Kanpe cold.
Preparation
LOL I guess I just like the tart. Sometimes I like this one with a little straight green tossed in…..
Dexter3657 sent me a sample of this and something tells me I will be finishing that very soon! I love this tea. I couldn’t decide which tea I wanted to make because there was so many to choose between but one sniff of this and I just had to make it! It smells like carrot cake with deliciously creamy cream cheese icing both dry and when brewed. I could sniff this all night but that would mean I don’t get to drink it which would be a shame because it is delicious! One of the best rooibos teas I have tried in a long time. I honestly can’t thank you enough Dexter3657!!! I hope you are enjoying my package as much as I have enjoyed yours so far :)
Preparation
Thanks Dexter3657 for this sample!!
This is an interesting tea for sure. It actually does smell like peanut butter to me. When I tried it for the first time I tasted some peanut butter but it almost tasted burnt to me. However, upon my next few tries I realized it wasn’t burnt and I began to taste the chocolate notes a bit more. All in all, I think this is a good cup of tea and I am glad I have enough of it to enjoy another cup (maybe then I will be able to fully wrap my head around it).
ETA: I resteeped this one and whatever I did not like in my very first sip seemed to intensify during the second steeping. I ended up throwing the cup down the drain.
Preparation
Any idea whether this was renamed on the Della Terra site? I tried looking for some to throw in a sampler, but I couldn’t find it (though I swear it was there just a few weeks ago) :S
I don’t have any more to send you. I only got it in a sampler and drank half and sent the other half to VariaTea….
Don’t worry about it at all. I’m just going to blindly hope that they’re tweaking the blend or renaming it or something – and it’ll be back on the site eventually for me to try. But it’s really not a big deal – there’s way too many things I want to try anyway, so it’s probably a good thing (financially, anyway).
